    Personally I don’t see Rockstar bringing major changes into the driving physics as there’s a high chance it could affect negatively on the whole racing/stunting side of the game. I do however think the damage model will be changed with much details so that when you hit trees they break or small buildings collapsing and the car itself breaking into more parts but still being able to drive without a problem

      Yes they will, you can see in the leaks that the cars' suspensions are better worked. A mix of GTA IV and GTA V. Although until the launch many things can change.

    I feel like it would make sense for rockstar to make more realistic driving and crash physics for the story mode of gta6. Cause you're a criminal running away from the law, it would make sense for cars to give up when they crash. It's a grand theft auto game after all, stealing another car would make sense. For gta6 online they would probably tone down the driving physics or at least the crash damage like they do in gta5 right now with armor upgrades.

    • @charliem4560
      @charliem4560 Місяць тому +21

      I actually really like this idea and it makes a lot of sense. Gta story is usually for more serious gameplay. (Unless you’re stunting) Online’s main purpose is typically to just have fun. So, if you don’t like one, you could swap to the other.

    • @vadimfedenko
      @vadimfedenko Місяць тому +1

      @@lightsfoundry unrealistic not from a technical standpoint. In rockstar engine, when you change the physics, the behavior of the AI also changes. they start crashing, can't enter turns, and so on, because they are tuned to the exact parameters of the physics they have. you will have to make different versions of AI for different physics. but if there is different AI in the game, it will change the logic between missions, as their difficulty will change. The difficulty will also change due to a change in physics. so you'll have to do few times more testing to debug different versions of physics.but debugging a game like GTA 6 is a very difficult task that takes many years (as you can see from the 2022 leak). even in GTA IV, a change in a car physics was breaking hundreds of little things in the game (coffin falling out in a funeral mission, people falling out of garbage trucks in another mission, broken following missions etc). GTA VI testers aren't endless, there's only so much they can do at a time, an increased load on them would lengthen the development.
      Then there's gamedesign stand point. People are always annoyed by inconsistencies. players would go through an offline storyline only to discover that their skills are useless and there is different controls in online. Then players would demand to make the same "realistic" controls in online mode

      @@vadimfedenko I've been modding gtas since 2008, the ai problem was only in gta 3 based games, from gta 4 to 5, changing the handling parameters for cars do not affect any other aspect of gameplay and the ai will drive accordingly as shown in this video, the ai are already terrible at high speed driving anyway so its not even an issue.
      In gta v, online and single player mode are essentially different games that just share 90% the same files, there's already features fragmentation, slightly difrerent vehicle physics is just going to be one more thing to adjust to imo.

    I want cars to feel less arcadey, but not simulator levels. I do hope that they make vehicles take more collision damage. Cars in GTA 5 feel like tanks, and very rarely are totaled.
    If I crash really hard, I want the car to be totaled. But several small collisions shouldn't be an issue.
    This could be achieved with an exponential damage curve based on mass and velocity between the two entities. Slower speeds deal minimal damage, while faster speeds or larger vehicles cause massive damage.

    I think that the driving physics will be a mix to bring a little bit of realism to the game while still having a bit of an arcade feel, however the trailer may actually be a pretty accurate way of driving in GTA 6 because for their trailers they take what they already have in the game, capture it and then polish it, so in the flamingo scene for example, in the real game there may be like 10 less of them but were added to the trailer for effect.

Just imagine you’re in a classic GTA police chase, you wipe out, and now you’re on the run for a brief moment while you jack another vehicle. It’s just more adrenaline.
    I just hope they won’t make your car be totaled forever. It would be cool if you could just recall the car later, and it would be fixed. Like in the case of a personal vehicle. Perhaps with a small in game fee. Something akin to GTA online.

    The problem with GTA IV driving physics is that EVERY car felt heavy and spongy. Driving a lightweight sedan or coupe felt no different that driving a big SUV.
    I'm ok with SOME of the cars having softer, spongier suspensions with worse braking, like the big SUV's, because I'm probably not going to be driving an SUV to get away from the cops, so it could make just a fun, bouncy ride to drive around in if you're just screwing around.
    I'm ok with typical sedans/coupes/regular cars not having perfect, arcade like suspension, but they should still be easier to drive than an SUV. Considering that's probably what most in the cars in the game are going to be, those cars should be easier to drive, but not perfect.
    And of course, sports cars, performance cars, and super cars need to have that arcade style of driving, because that's when you want to go fast.
    Car damage is fine when its just superficial, and I do think there SHOULD be a point where car damage should affect driveability, but it shouldn't be "one or two accidents and you're screwed". Especially not with how some of the NPC's seem to target you when you're driving.
    And car upgrades to make even basic cars more driveable would definitely be nice, but for the love of GIlgamesh, either make the upgrades free, cheap, or give us more money, Rockstar.

    7:31 More realistic physics, yes. But not delayed handling input. It is something that has me really annoyed in GTA IV. U attempt to countersteer but youd have to countersteer before knowing it, so it has an effect, if you know what I mean. I would prefer the physics to be rather cosmetic, like some new off-roaders have it from GTA O. It looks cool. Speed should have a larger impact on turning radius, but I don't think it should be as drastic as it is with DriveV or in GTA IV. It seems a bit too heavy and reducing the fun in speeding through traffic. Different cars should have different weight and downforce, yes.

    the one thing i would want with the driving physics in GTA VI is more realistic crash physics. not like what's in this video, but more like a more advanced version of GTA IV crash physics, or more of a muted version of something like beamng crash physics.

    The game is called grand theft auto, but grand theft auto is no longer a viable strategy... just a relic of a bygone time. You used to grab any old car you saw just to get away from cops. Now, you just call a supercar with armor or a flying bike or a tank from your garage. You used to flip your vehicle and it would explode. Driving used to require skill and was rewarding. I'm all in favor of a realistic driving and damage model to bring back the core gameplay mechanic and namesake of the franchise: Grand Theft Auto. Chases are only fun if there's risk in messing up. Crashes should have consequences to keep you moving from car to car.
    I get that the kiddies want their indestructible supercar which handles like a toy, but just tell them no. What are they going to do, not buy GTA6? Sure, put the supercars in the game, make them fast and grippy, but make them crumple. Put the big bulletproof SUVs in the game, but make them handle like boats. When my car blows up and I'm scanning a parking lot for a new ride as the cops are closing in, make me think about which one I should take for the situation, don't just make them all different shades of the same pedestrian car.
    When you're good at driving in GTAIV, it feels rewarding, just like in real life. If you mess up, the results have consequences and you improve next time. When you're good at driving in GTAV, that's just to be expected, and isn't rewarding. If you mess up, just flip the car over and keep going.
    People are concerned with the racing/stunting communities, but more realism will just add more reward to them. Nobody takes the GTA racing community seriously, but I'll occasionally watch sim racers on UA-cam. The harder stunts are to pull off, the more interest there is. When everyone knows the driving is hard, but someone pulled off something crazy, everyone wants to see it. Who cares if someone did a cool trick in GTAV? There's so many glitches and exploits and unrealistic mechanics to use that it lost its appeal years ago.

    From both the trailer and the leaks it looks like it's literally just V driving ported over. I was kind of hoping for a mix between V and IV. An inbetween. IV felt like driving in slowmotion and on bald tyres, while V felt a little too grippy and nimble when driving vehicles that shouldn't be (like SUVs and trucks).

    I would love if they had realistic driving! Maybe not like Gta 4 though, where all cars handle different, but all of them sort of handle bad. Irl, you can definitely predict the car maneuver you'll have to make and do it, but with Gta IV you can't predict crap! Gta IV cars always just handle in a way you don't want it to at even normal speeds! I've been playing BeamNG drive, and I get that it's not a fair comparison, but in BeamNG drive you can actually get the car language especially since it's trying to be as realistic as possible, while in Gta IV there is just no car language to get.

    I love the idea of more realistic physics, but they have to address the speed issue first, when your top speed is the equivalent of 120kmh and your car loses grip like it's going 300, that's not fun and makes no sense, there's no reason why your car should spin out when taking a somewhat sharp turn at the equivalent of 30kmh.
    When you take that into consideration, gta5 actually has the more realistic physics, the game just lies about the speed you're going.

    • @IDyn4m1CI
      @IDyn4m1CI 13 днів тому

      Idk about 'makes no sense', you should try some realistic sims like AC or PC2 and try taking turns at 120kmh, I guarantee you'll spin out a lot if you don't know what you're doing. Even going 30kmh, there's plenty of reasons that could make you spin out. IRL there are a lot of factors affecting the car such as weight transfer loading the tires and affecting grip, changing the center of gravity of the car, etc. which games like GTA simply can't emulate. Now I'm not saying GTA VI should have sim levels of realistic handling, that would be terrible, but a little bit more realism than GTA V would be nice

    • @BxPanda7
      @BxPanda7 13 днів тому

      @@IDyn4m1CI I've played my fair share of AC, but the thing is in gta 5 120kmh is roughly the top speed of the fastest cars in the game, but game will tell you you're going 300+, which is a lie.
      I played with mods that boost cars to roughly emulate real car performance, and the handling felt decently realistic, sure there was too much downforce and you could still steer like crazy even at 500kmh, but at least it felt better than playing gta 4 and constantly losing grip at snail speeds.
      Since they're both unrealistic to some extent, I'd rather take the fun fast one rather than the frustrating slow one.

    • @IDyn4m1CI
      @IDyn4m1CI 13 днів тому

      @@BxPanda7 That's wrong though, the top speed of most cars in GTA is around 120mph, not 120kmh. Some of the fastest cars can go up to 160mph (DLC vehicles). Yeah that is not realistic but its deliberate a gameplay design, because if the cars were as fast as their real life counterparts, the map would feel very small. If you drive shitboxes with street tires in AC (like most of the cars that you'll find on the streets in GTA IV), you'll quickly find out losing grip at snail speeds is not entirely unrealistic. Frustrating, sure, but I don't mind it. What I don't like about GTA IV is that even sports cars have this absurd body roll when turning, and low grip at slow speeds just like the big SUVs, which is stupid. GTA V is the complete opposite, almost all vehicles are very nimble, have very minimal to *negative* body roll, and have absurd amounts of grip everywhere. I wouldn't mind the compromise of having most normal cars being shit at handling and slow (as you would expect), and sports and super cars being fast and nimble
