God Help The Outcasts (Jazz Version) - Alan Menken & Stephen Schwartz

Day 293 of my daily video posting project. I have been working on this project since November 2023--learning and posting a video of new piano music every day!
Today's video is a jazz version of "God Help The Outcasts" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The music was written by Alan Menken and the lyrics were written by Stephen Schwartz. This piece is from the Hal Leonard collection: "Jazz Piano Solos: Disney Favorites".
This version is a slow swing waltz version of a beautiful song--one of my favourite ballads from this movie, if not from the "modern" Disney films. (I probably can't use the word "modern" anymore, but they WERE modern compared to the ones I grew up with!!).
The slow swing arrangement makes the melody stand out more, and the jazzy chords add beauty to an already beautiful melody. I love this version because it's really expressive.
