Howdy guys, my name is Attorney Walter Rudolph Hnot, III. New Jersey born, MBA, JD, Master Mason and a tireless advocate for the homeless and low income who are seeking disability benefits. It's simple, if you are within the law's requirements for disability benefits, you get a check every month, and health insurance. No, it doesn't include a new iPhone, house or cool car, but, with your SSI/SSDI disability backpay, you can potentially get those things...with your own disability money :-). I created this channel because of how many crazy things I was hearing out in the general public on how this system works. I did library seminars, academia seminars, food truck seminars (which I prefer), etc...The online video platform is the best way to reach the majority of you guys.

It took me about 1.5 years to finally get a decision in my case. The county office had it for about 10 months before sending it to the state. The state then took 7 months before assigning a caseworker.
Our government needs to take care of it's own. Never mind other countries
I agree 100%
with conservatives in the house., nothing getting done , and they just hate handouts more than government jobs they have by same people voted against their interest ..not sure which important ..control inflation or let it go and everyone get bigger ssa and ssdi :? with libertarians sure not gonna help you when their government support is very tiny vs republican smaller vs dems ...bigger government but requires unlimited funds to that...besides least we all got money from covid-19 handouts ...least it lasted for everyone but nothing gonna last forever when conservatives are good in arguing in money spending since we all love money...right?? government treat all of us like kings and queens
I couldn't agree more
So many abuse this system and instead of going after the abusers, they punish everyone.
Yes lots of abusers and no one should get disability all their life because no 75 yr old would still be working anyway!! It should last only through your yrs that you could have worked and have a STOP Mark at like age 68 or 70. I know old 80 yr olds that will just keep collecting if they can.
@@joyceanderson8648 i don't believe anyone is collecting disability after they hit full retirement age. i know someone who is 79 or 80 & he still works 10 hours a day 5 days a week, then does work at his church or on his house on Saturdays. he goes up a ladder like its nothing, while when i was 55 stairs were a pretty good challenge for me. he owns an RV repair shop and gets on the top of the RVs all the time. he can lay on the ground and slide under, then slide out & stand up like a healthy 30 year old can. im not ashamed to admit i am jealous, or is it envious? which ever one, i am very much that,....
No there are not a lot Abusing this.
It's the old story they ruin it for the rest of us.
@@SuperMatrix59 I agree.
Your channel is truth. I have been waiting 2 years this March. Telephone hearing set for April 18, it has been so SOOOO SOOOOO HARD in this inflation to wait this long.
Consider yourself lucky, it mostly takes most of us 3 yrs or more!
Good luck to you...your hearing is on my 56th birthday. I got my approval a month ago on Feb 3rd, 13 months into my reconsideration appeal. The way the approval letter was worded. I think they gave me a grid out in the 55y/o category. I applied Feb 2022.
Your hearing is close to mine, mine is April 4th, and yes agreed. I applied I think few months before May of 2022, I think lol, I may have to look again. Good luck to you!
The inflation is hurting me too. The "Business Grocery Store" is so expensive that I mostly use eBay options now.
Update on my hearing…I just called SS to confirm my hearing date of April 4th, and they told me it’s been cancelled due to the ALJ already making her decision. They couldn’t tell me over the phone, but said to call my attorney rep. They also said they have to wait till both them, and I get the letter from SS. I’m trying to log into my SS account to see if it shows, but kinda nervous now. I’m assuming though, that if a decision was made, before my hearing, it must be a good sign?? 🤔
Walter changed my life! Idk he had a channel. I have so much gratitude for this gentleman. He is so good and handeled my case exceptionally. Thank you Walter for everything! Your are an incredible man
All the scammers are ruining it for the small percentage of actually disabled applicants.
The way you took your glasses off and snatched that paper.....sh*t, it can't be good....ok lay it on me...

Love your channel. It took me 8 months to get mine and they found me extremely disabled
8 months is nothing and, you have nothing to complain about! The Social Security Administration didn’t find you extremely disabled, you were labeled disabled by a doctor before you ever filed! The SSA, they aren’t doctors so, they can’t label you such, your doctor did! The SSA is going off of your medical records and, your physical exam whose doctor you went to see for a physical exam to back up your doctor’s medical reports and off of the tests you took for them, common sense! It takes most of us 3 yrs or more to get a hearing and, get our case rapped up and to win our case!
Apparently you cant perform activities of daily living independently. A family member got hers in 6 months. Never went to court.
Who found you extremely disabled?
There’s no such thing as extremely disabled 🤣🤣🤣
@@sr2291That’s because the average timeframe is 5-6 months. Your family member submitted sufficient medical evidence which most don’t.

I have to say out of all the videos I watch to educate myself on disability claims you explain things far better then anybody else I watch..thank you
I filed for disability 9/22/23, I was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma and received a letter stating all of a sudden you were diagnosed with cancer. Make it Make sense!
One of the big box firms botched my first claim and would have been found guilty of malpractice but got an appellate firm to take my case. We won in federal court the AC sent the case back to OHO in Manchester and I'm in the queue for another hearing. I have learned a lot from your channel and others. Hope Sweetie is doing well I love animals had a pug for 8 years til she died in 2018 working on getting a pet.
Excellent, make sure you hit a home run on the AC remand brief demands required of the ALJ.
@@WinSocialSecurityDisability I am fully convinced we will win this time. Plus the AC had affirmed my aod of 10/2/22 but we are still trying to go back to 1/31/20. I won the second case this appeal is to bring aod back

I got mine fast years ago. What took the long time is .They did not believe that I was disabled.
The good ole days
That's when they tried to prevent disability fraud. They no longer give a damn about that either! Far too many people playing disabled. I know 3 personally and turned one in with proof, and they did NOTHING! How does someone on disability drive a brand new Dodge ram pickup with ll the bells and whistles and build a brand new house? He's received a check for at least 10 urs. How in the hell is it possible if he's living on disability alone? He works on the side making cash and LITERALLY puts up tarps around the houses he works on so he can't be seen!! He built his own damn brand new house!! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE OR ACCEPTABLE??
It took me a year to get a denial. Then I scrambled to get an attorney to file the appeal within the required 30 days. I then had to wait another year and 3 months to get the nod.
I thought that they would give you 60 days. Maybe not?
60 days + 5 for each appeal. But even that is not enough time to usually get an Attorney all settled and on board now that fewer and fewer categories of claimants are being chosen for representation.
Attorneys don't do anything you can't do yourself. I'm waiting for my reconsideration. Had my online adult phych appointment. I was honest this time about my disabilities compared to the 1st time because of embarrassment about how pathetic I am. I'm 60, worked 34 yrs for the post office until 2019. I've been diagnosed with agoraphobia, bulimia, extreme depression and grief. I haven't worked since my mom died in Aug of 2021. My bro died in Nov of 2019.
That year I left the Po, both my dogs died. I moved 7 times, lived in my car, and ended a 3yr abusive relationship.2 Yrs before that my sis stole my house and had me evicted from it which I paid my mum in cash for then made it so I couldn't visit her the last 18 months she was alive.
Just be honest about your disabilities.
Chris
@@WinSocialSecurityDisability I went back to check and you are correct on the 60 days. I guess I just felt rushed. They did eventually find me to be "severely disabled" .
I recently found your videos and it's been helpful to be aware and on top of current events.
I applied for disability right before covid and was approved a year later. I went through imposter syndrome for a few years, undiagnosed depression and fear from losing my benefits over any technicality.
I and here now years later, a successful review I did myself and am currently still on ssi. I'm more mentally stable now but it's always going to be a challenge.
I thank you for spreading this information as it helps me stay current.
Thank you for the update
Oh my gosh, mine took forever! The first rejection I expected, the second came back that I was only half disabled and finally I had to hire an attorney and get a Judge advocate hearing. It was close to 3 years to get a final judgment.
I feel for you. I just passed the 4 year mark without a final resolution.
@@itsmezedI was so discouraged and ready to give up, however my long term disability claims adjuster helped me through the process. I think it helped that I worked in insurance and documented everything. I will pray for your case to be resolved shortly.
@@HugsXO Thank you 😄
@@itsmezed Have you heard anything on your claim?
@@HugsXO I got notice a couple weeks ago that my appeal was remanded to the ALJ. So it's just a matter of waiting for them to give me a hearing date. You'd think that scoliosis and severe spinal canal stenosis would make for an easier case.

Hello Walter & everyone!
I have been in and out of work and sick, since age 3.
I lack some units and they say I cannot get disability and I really have never been able to work steady, due to multiple health problems.
How is someone supposed to live, when they have always been sick?
Cross the border and come back. You’ll get money
Thank you Mr.Walter.
Took me exactly three years from initial claim to ALJ hearing.
I was awarded through the grid rules.
But, it took three long years!
I feel you, it did me to and, I had to go to there doctors to be put through a long physical exam, and, I had at the time took the exact same tests they wanted me to take! But, it can take some much longer!
3 years 7 months for me. Had no savings and no income whatsoever. It's a horrible process
I guess I should consider myself lucky. I applied Feb 2022. Feb 3rd, last month I received an approval letter thirteen months into my reconsideration appeal. I received a grid out as well. I will be 56y/o next month. I fully expected to have to do the ALJ hearing, although I felt good about having a winning case. 25.5 years at my last electrical parts warehouse job. 200,000sqft warehouse working our inbound freight side unloading, breaking down then storing material. Heaviest weight lifting solo was 10-str-various color-2500R reels weighing about 90lb's. Severe bi-lateral knee issues. Also lumbar issues.
@@89PWRRAM Congratulations!
I just turned 65.
I never had to do hard physical labor throughout my working years.
But, even just 30+ years of any job can wear you out.
I'm happy that older ones can be approved through the grid rules.
With my medical conditions and at my age I could never do a full time job anymore.
I appreciate that they let older ones get approved for SSDI a little easier.
but you received a fat check in the end right 💨
Hey Walter! I was on the chat in the last video!
I said hi. I was on the chat for last night 's video.
Very nice.
It took me 3.5 years and one denial to finally get my disability and they knocked a year off. I was advised not to appeal the date I was declared disabled as it would take another 3 to 4 years. And I was 58 when I started the process. I feel for anyone trying to apply now.
I applied since 2020, and I just received the letter stating that my medical conditions (severe) are onset since March 2024. (Because I turned 50) it's crazy
Thank you for your help
TY. In the past SSA has taken special action to reduce the backlog. Complex cases (1,000+ pages of medical records) had in the past been expedited due to likely approvals..
That’s not true. There is a list of presumptive disability types, it has nothing to do with how many pages of medical records you have.
I’ve AGAIN LOST MONEY! 😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬My cola was $24. Rent went up $28 and Foodstamps went down $12! WTF?
Count your blessings. My daughter has not been approved; because she is not able to work she gets $.00 foodstamps. Just delays. At least you finally got approved. And got a COLA. I have supported her the last 2 years. I am in my 70s and she lives on my SS check. I refuse to allow her to loose her home. She is broken and defeated taking my money and I survive on crumbs .

@@WinSocialSecurityDisability I am still waiting on the EXR decision from the date I filled my expedited reinstatement application. My claim representative always say she going to call me back but never do. Every time I call my local SSA office and I talk to an agent it funny how they can reach out to my claim rep but yet I call and leave numerous and numerous of voicemails on her phone and still no return calls this can be exhausting. But like you said Walter it can takes years until they make a decision hopefully it won't take them that long😢😢😢😢
@@WinSocialSecurityDisability I feel there is no different between an initial application vs the EXR application they're two peas in the same pot to be honest.😂😂😂😂
When I log in my SSA my medical review says 387 days, in FL. My effective date was Jan 6.
Okay so I just logged in they've changed the numbers.. again. I've been stuck at 90% for the past month. Now it says 394 days for the decision and 11 months for the review. prior it said 10 months for the review. Now there's a little highlighted box saying they're trying to get through the applications as quickly as possible and if they need anything from me they will let me know.
@Blinda41 how can I find out how long my application will take. Because when I logged into my SSA account the only thing I see is my medical information and how much I owe the government. I did a EXR application back in July and waiting on a decision but it should be a way I can see the progress....
@@terrancecooley3165 I didn't do anything special All I just did was make an SSA account and login so I'm not the professional on their website I just know what mine says
Something else I rarely see on UA-cam… SSDI isn’t about whether you can still work your job, or at the career you always worked, or in any job you’re educated for or capable of. It’s about whether you can work ANY job. I was told by a disability physician, “If you can be a greeter at WalMart, you won’t be approved.”
This is correct 👍
Got my denial today. I can't type, I can't manage. I can barely get out of bed. If not for my husband, I'd be on the streets. It's been 9 months. I'm 63. I have several diagnoses. PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO GET APPROVED!
What state are you in and what are your diagnoses?
Get a lawyer
Most work on contingency 👍
At 63 can’t you just go on social security?
@joycewright5386 yes, at a MUCH discounted rate. Over 1k a month difference
@joycewright5386 I took SS but trying to get it switched to disability. If approved, I will get back $$ for 1 year. Plus what I should get at 65. That's a lot of $$$$.
In my case the first application process was denied, even after getting representation from an attorney and I gave up. I immediately contracted with another firm but with the long wait through the first application, I no longer had the credits within the time frame for SSDI. I did finally get approved for SSI. I'm grateful to get it, but I still feel cheated because of the first attempt and because the judge would approve it at the Administrative Judge hearing IF I agreed to change my onset date. My attorney advised that I go along with it and I was struggling so I did agree.
TL;DR: Great videos - just subscribed! I might have some considered questions in the future.
Longer: Thanks for this. Just subscribed and started watching your videos. So far, what I’m seeing is an NON-political presenter who is helping to demystify the disability process. Your mini-lectures are well-crafted, clear, and appear designed for those going through the process and/or those that are helping them. I’m looking forward to watching/listening to more of your material, jotting notes and ideas, and commenting where appropriate. I may even ask a question or two. Before that, I will check out your web-presences and the linked resources you recommend to increase my knowledge base. Thanks again.
Approved for SSDI for over a year. Medical still being processed. Yeah oh but I can get a policy paid for by the government they pay directly to insurance company and I get a $10k deductible! What good is medical insurance paid for with a $10 k deductible. That is a major scam.
Doesn’t Medicare kick in automatically after six months anymore?
I had to wait 24 months for Medicare.
Medicare doesn’t start until you receive 24 months of disability payments. It should start when you get approved for SSDI. After all, people who didn’t work enough (or at all) to receive SSDI get Medicaid immediately after getting approved for SSI. Plus it’s free.
Insurance in general is out of control. My husband was paying $500 a month to insure himself through his works insurance policy and still had a $10,000 deductible. Only basic preventative appointments were covered with a $20 co-pay. It’s pretty much only benefits you if you get cancer or have to have major surgery.
Wow, I have been on for ten years and never had this issue. Do you have secondary coverage or is that what you are referring to? Meaning is this after Medicare’s portion? Medical doesn’t start right away so are you in the waiting phase?
@@ChrisW228it did for me but that was 10 years ago.
Hi Walter, Jessica, miss you all getting back together after new problems. Hope you’re all well. Thank you for your help.
I got approved one year ago, and it was my third try. It took them 15 months to get the approval, and they found me to be severely disabled. What I wan to know is, why did they reject me twice before, if they found me severely disabled the final time. Same disability, and no change at all in how I applied. However, the first two times, they didn't even have me see their doctor. The last time they did. That was the only difference. They didn't even bother having me see one of their doctors the first 2 times. Mind you, the disability was the same each time.
Ten years ago it took me twelve months and didn't get no back pay
Well, no wonder, it usually takes most of us 3 yrs or more! I got backpay all those yrs ago because, it took me a little over 3 yrs to finish and win my case!

I’m on over a year but I’m moving closer towards it. Good luck to you mates.
It took 4 years and 4 attempts to get disability. This is 2013 after 2 heart attacks, a double bypass, and having 2 stents put in my artery because 12 hours after the bypass, the artery started growing clots just past the graft. I was finally approved in 2017 but was not given any backpay at all. It’s BS what they do to people.
@tobimiley that's is awful they didn't give you any back pay. But yet we got illegal immigrants who come into this country and get assistance from our own government and they don't pay any taxes but we as Americans citizens that pay taxes and pay into the system get screw over....

Not surprised. I submitted an online claim for SSDI back in May 2023. I’m in the Philippines and I sent my evidence to the Federal Benefit Unit at the US Embassy in Manila. I had my initial interview last month after a year of waiting. I’m retired US military so all my medical records are in my VA claim file as I have also submitted claims for VA disability which the SSA can request. I was told by the interviewer it would be about 6-12 months for a decision to be made but I’ll get back pay to my claim submission date and one year prior as my disability onset date is January 2017.
It took Arkansas 18 months to deny me, (I'm a lifelong OREGON resident) I hired an attorney, it took Oregon 7 months to acknowledge my application, and another 12 months to deny me. Thankfully I finally received my hearing schedule notice last week, three months after my state's denial. It's definitely a long messy process! I'm lucky to have family who can help but it's getting to the end of that.
It took me 3.5 years in Georgia I’m 61 I’m just glad I finally got it. Denied 2 times, I did it by myself no lawyer!
2023 it took 10 months in TN. Approved SSDI
Very good 👍.. good luck in future. 🙏
17 months for a first-round decision??
Sounds about right…
I hope I get SSDI under disabled adult children disability
That’s SSI not SSDI! SSI is a non-paid into benefit and, your not taxed but, SSDI is paid into monthly disability benefit, there definitely a huge difference between the 2!
@@sonyafox3271 that's not the case I'm already applied for SSDI under my father income taxes
@@sonyafox3271
Yeah there is a huge difference between the two, SSI is something that is impossible for one adult to live on and support themselves. Most people on SSI are now homeless cuz they can't afford to pay rent anywhere.
@@fightingtosurvive6527 I don't pay any rent anymore
@@fightingtosurvive6527 besides that I started to save money
I filed for SSDI in February of 2022. I’m just finally getting a hearing in May 2024 with an ALJ. It took 20 months to get my first and second denial letters. After asking for a hearing it took only couple months to get that set up
I hope the best for you 🙏
See this is misleading because what SSA is talking about is the decision on a new claim which still takes 5-6 months.
Can you please talk about remote onset cases?
Always great info.
What would happen if a SSI, SSDI or SSA retirement recipient made a viral Yoitube video and got paid $7000? Times are changing as is the definition of work and the hustle culture and irregular pay schedules or possibilities. Could something like this jeopardize someone's benefits?
Ty for all you do.
Yes. It would be looked at as self employment and would still count against your income threshold. You need to review the threshold for the benefits you receive.
I have multiple comorbidities including two that are considered life-shortening. SSA botched my original paper application in April 2023 and only uploaded part of it to their system. Since it was not considered a complete application, they just closed the case without even notifying me. I went through a disability attorney and resubmitted an electronic application in September 2023. Finally, in May of 2024 ( 243 days after the September app), my attorney found out that the state examiner approved my claim and that it was being sent back to the local field office for "final review". Their website states that this typically takes 15-30 days. It is now 52 days, and I have not heard a word. The status remains "final review". My grandfather was a proud branch manager of a SSA office back in the day. He would be rolling over in his grave if he knew what is happening at SSA now.
You are awesome 😊
In 1989 it took almost a year. I never got a denial letter. I was sent straight to an attorney and in a couple weeks in a judges chamber. It wasn't 3 weeks, about a year. It was completely and totally physically disabled. I was 28 years old. There was no vocational person. Just myself, husband, attorney and judge. Back then didn't the judge make the decision? My attorney was like "you got this ". We weren't watching the calendar thank God my husband had a good job, but curious why so long.
I filed online myself, no attorney and received mine approval roughly 2 weeks later 03/01/16 and received my first SSI check on May 1st and my first SSD in September. Best thing I ever did was not use an attorney. Everyone I know who has used an attorney has been denied a minimum of at least one time. I filed myself no denial
May I ask what is your disability?
Same here I applied in 2013 I'm pretty sure it was a bit less than 2 weeks and I was approved i was also paid almost 2 years of back pay (that i wasn't even expecting to receive) however I did try to work for over a year but i was ultimately "let go" from several employers because "my disability prevented me from completing my duties"
I know people that applied online and got it in just a few weeks.. wish I would have gone that route
It took mine 8 months and approved on the first try because I am really disabled
lol the rest of us not I guess
I just got letter last week on Tuesday about the letter that social security denied my ssi and i called the ssi and the person i spoke said i can appeal so i did. But why they already cancel my daughter ssi this month if they havnt review my appeal yet?
You don’t receive SSI
@@A-Thomas my daughter have ssi since she's born
@@keiciamae4794 You made it spins like your case and your daughters were connected. If you both have SSI then you’re being stopped and hers being stopped have nothing to do with one another. You need to speak with a claims representative for a clear understanding of what’s airing and what you need to do.
I started the process with a lawyer on 6/10/22. Was informed that having a lawyer would not make SS move any faster. I’m told that they are working my case now ? But have not had any further correspondence in about 4+ months. Very frustrating. Coming up on 21 months. I’ve worked over 40yrs. It just doesn’t make sense.
I have seen the social security administration laugh at elderly people are the social security administration and they are trying to fill out paperwork and they are laughing at them in their faces
I call my local SSA office everyday just to push the issue I feel like if you don't push the issue then they won't even bother to care about your situation.
Well, they need to follow the 5 step elements. Emotional connection is not a part of the job… but I understand what you are saying about the type of career
@@WinSocialSecurityDisability huh?
I have filed twice for disability and it took so long to get an answer, I forgot I had filed.
I started out at the TOP and slowly worked myself down to the bottom.😮
That’s a really important quote right there
It took 3 years to get approved on my first time but now to get my back payments it's been 5 months and still have received anything I've called the SSA toll free number 4 times trying to find out where's my money
TX. they claim to be one year behind, even for 60-61 year old folks who have filed over a year a go and have been denied once already, and have several doctors who have them listed as unable to work.... my wife is one of them, she worked for one company her entire life, earned above normal income and paid in heavy taxes for over 38 years... it's ridicules, seems like they are stalling so folks are pushed into early social security benefits at 61.
People who don't take care of paperwork can be rejected multiple times. But SSA does not tell them that.
@rebecamyott7041 what you meant by that if they don't take care of paperwork....
It took me around 2,500 days to get approved. I have a boatload of medical issues but applied at 38 y/o with a masters degree. I had to fight to the death and see three ALJs. Now, I was approved 11 months ago and am still in the SSI category because they haven't figured out the math on something? They are also fighting an attorney who did nothing work product wise. The effective attorney has already been paid.
You are so right about us burning our bridges while we wait. I lived in 3 different places and depended heavily in the goodness of friends. I still lived hand-to-mouth and always felt like I was begging.
3 year's and 7 months and was considered disabled, I've been waiting 3 months just to get the letter that seems to be stuck in Philadelphia..no one seems to not know what was going on...😮.yeh me🎉🎉
Man, I'm glad I was approved decades ago even though it's too little money to live on in my state. Thx Walter.
I agree!!

Been going thru this since August '21...I got a hearing date for April 25, 2024!! Now my nerves are fried cause I don't know what to do with the judge. yes I have a Lawyer I think LOL, they keep sending me paperwork to fill out and it feels like I keep doing this over and over again. I was on SS, not sure which, from 2009-2016, and I didn't have to go in front of the judge for my approval so this is new!! I feel like I am drowning!!
A 59 year old coworker who went manic and was hospitalized for same filed for disability had to wait over a year just to be denied, but she applied without legal help. She ended up hospitalized again with depression and suicidal ideation after the denial.
I checked the other day and it said 408 days until my case. I am a disabled veteran. Does that speed things up?
Depends on your rating and expedited filing request
I got hurt on job over 30 years ago. Got WC for 10 years. Then I got SSD. In over 20 years I can still not get $600 a month SSD. My COLA for 2024 was $21.00. How is that fair? How are we supposed to live off this? I cant get food stamps or any other help! What are ppl in my situation supposed to do? Any Advice? 💔😭🥵
You would get more on just ssi
36 months and counting!
it took almost a full year from application to denial letter. the person i talked to at the ss office when i applied insisted on, and to put down an earlier date than what i was asking for.
with my knees, neck, back, and heart problems people have been telling me i should apply for a few years. they did send me to a doctor, figures that on that day i felt better than i had in a long time, at 75/148 even my blood pressure was really good.
I had 3 strokes and it took over 2 1/2 years to get disability and then they shorted me on it .
And you will never get the money owed I've been disabled since 2000 they did make a math error took.13 years for them to admit thier mistake then told iwould recieve money owed if ....which there was nothing after the if iwas to getthe money in2023 haven't recieved and probly never would inspite of constant letters by the judge .
I logged in my husbands SSA account and it says "Typically it takes 362 days for a decision." I thought that was a generic, random number, but maybe it is particular to him, and he's one of the Categories you mentioned. Idk which one...I really thought his would be one of the easy-peasy cases. Should have been approved within 60 days, not 360 (+2).
Nothing is quick when it comes to the government. Good luck 👍
Exactly, I agree! It takes most disability claims 3 yrs or more, like it or not! My case took a little over 3 yrs and, they actually are nice enough to take and walk you through the beginning stages once you are approved! I always got a letter to tell me what the next steps were and, yet a lady was nice enough to give me a call that exact same day to also inform me! She also called me after, I filed the first time they were looking at my case very seriously and, I had to file again! She led me through up until it was time where she let me know it was time to get a attorney! You have to do also what they expect you to do as well, if you want to win your case, do not miss a physical exam or medical test, miss them and, it won’t look good! And, you have to go where they want you to go and see their doctors!
That's one thing I can say for them, all the people we've dealt with have been very nice, and as helpful as they could be. So unlike so many other so-called "Customer Service" jerks I've had to deal with in doctor's offices, medical records, insurance companies, etc.
It took me 5 yrs. I ended up getting full disability. I know why it took this long. The judge let my money be drained from the quarters earned until there was nothing left worked. I made to much if given earlier.
Took, there’s no such word as tiik! No, it sounds like you weren’t old enough and didn’t have enough hrs and time in to collect SSDI and could only collect SSI! Heck they do not actually start counting your hrs and time once you are over the age of 30!
@@sonyafox3271 so i corrected the spelling. TY for pointing that out😉. SSDI and SSI did not apply to me. Did you even read it correctly.
They are supposed to retro your application back to the date you applied. So it shouldn't have changed the income they apply it to, but there are some caveats to that. You do have to be disabled a year before you're considered. And you can tell them the date you became disabled but they generally don't agree with that date. I know specifically the date I became disabled because it was my birthday. But they deemed my disabled date sometime the following month. I seem to remember some wording that explained it, but I don't remember it, now. I watched the progress online and it edged up 2%, 2%, 2%, then when it reached 97% it didn't go up any further. Shortly after I got the denial. Then I started the lawyer assisted appeal.
@@sonyafox3271I was 28 and my hours counted.
@@katismithhow can I watch my percentage online....
It took me 2.5 yrs to get disability in 2001, it took my husband 3.5 yrs in 2012. During 2017 to 2019. It was a shorter time wait. At this time, there's no money, it's been dipped into, given to unqualified, and not managed correctly. One will be lucky enough to get disability. Or keep it if already on it. They are giving the funds to others, figure it out.😢
I already have my 40 credits and now after they denied my claim from October 2023, now 5 yrs ago was the COVID-19 I wasn't working because of COVID, now I don't qualify because I don't have the whole 25 credits be cause they didn't retroact my claim to 2023 before the law changes. Plus when I started back working in 2022, I got hurt at work with a slip discs... What's the deal with that???
