I feel the same way mate, just reminiscing and watching this great video. I went there 6 times with my parents from 75-81, from 8-14 years old, usually june or july, loved every single second of it, Happiest childhood memories, I can remember we stayed in Windemere chalets once? Dining hall was huge and the food was great, Played table tennis and snooker in the games room, Dennis Taylor did an exhibition there one year. Ive still got a pontins round white badge lol What great times we all had, The good old days. How times have changed. All the best to you and also to iansradios for keeping a record and showing this brilliant video.

Stayed there in 1969, the year before my dad died. Never forget as we drove in my mum pointing out the perimeter fence & my dad telling her it was to keep us in until our holiday was over! Happy memories.

I remember going there a lot when we were kids, and the blue coats used to line the entrance to the restaurant and sing all the holidaymakers in for breakfast, dinner or evening meal, the song I remember most was " Good morning starshine " from the musical Hair, fantastic magical memories

Middleton Towers Holiday Camp, I came here, 2 or 3 times in about 1954,55,56, remember seeing Bruce Forsyth? I think, he took his jacket off on stage it had a bright red lining, everybody went Whoooo! Saw Tommy Docherty (footballer manager) answering questions on stage one afternoon. I palled up with another boy my age, 9, or 10, called Bobby he came from Barrow In Furnace just across the bay, if I remember, his mom and dad went drinking with my parents while we went round the camp on bikes we had hired. I think he lived in a paper shop in Barrow. I remember a car getting stuck in the sand when the tide came in, next day a tractor pulled the car back up the beach, totally wrecked. Still got the badges we bought with the years on. Happy days, happy memories .

We went on holiday there in 1988. Our girls chummed up with two other wee girls from Ayrshire. A few months later I recognised their Mum in our street in the village we live in. Funnily enough they had moved in a few doors down. We’re all still friends more than thirty years later. We had a great holiday there!

Went here on holiday twice in the eighties when my sons were small. Really great holiday both times. The first time the resident band was KAOS, second time it was a big band sound. Sad to see how it ended up.

I worked there as a 'bottle boy' in 1977-78, including the Christmas season, (my mother worked on reservations and reception). Basically restocking behind the bars every morning and taking away the empties to 'bottle back' into crates. It was really interesting work... I'm not surprised Susan Maughan complained about your sound system, half the sound's missing here, too.

@@johnsandland2900 were you working there when my dad, Jason Blake, was General Manager? I used to go to that little hatch upstairs every Saturday I think (?) and they would give me my own little wage packet (which was just pocket money!) and I would go and spend it in the shops on site. I must have been 5 or 6 I think..

I worked here in 1983, waiting on in the dining room. Split shifts, you felt like you were working all day and evening. Still have some photos. I remember the staff accommodation, I was in a room with my boyfriend, showers/toilets at the end of the row. And weren't allowed in the pub which was just off site.
