We've got a real headache to fix (soon™) - The town of Pine Harbour doesn't have any train station! For a city that grew due to the strength of its Fishing Industry in the early days, this is quite an oversight... Which we will need to fix. But help is needed, so I encourage this wonderful community to bring suggestions and thoughts to the table on our community page - so that we can get a good plan in motion for retrofitting a train station! In the meantime, this episode features a few different implementations: we build a new Highway Interchange to better connect the western part of the region, before embarking on expanding an old neighbourhood, building two cookie-cutter modern developments, as well as a small cozy beach with amenities!
- What's the rationale behind this project:
What happens if a washed-up-used-to-be-UA-camr gathers a bunch of "generic" looking assets (though mostly inspired by Australian / Canadian cityscapes) with the hopes of creating a Cities: Skylines region full of towns and cities that both look realistic and are inspired by Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the USA, while at the same time don't really replicate any one particular style? No idea, let's find out.
Join me in this Cities: Skylines modded gameplay series as we aimlessly expand the region, and build new infrastructure, highways, public transit, industrial pockets, NIMBY-neighbourhoods, and bustling downtowns. And of course, use tress excessively to cover up any imperfections!

If my voice sounds a little coarse, it's probably because I was slightly hungover from Friday (this was recorded yesterday, Saturday the 10th).

My vote is to just street-run the train through the middle of town like Chicago’s South Shore Line. That would be interesting, to say the least.
That's pretty straightforward, I like it!
I think either way - it might make sense to just expand the downtown of Pine Harbour a bit, so that it stretches further north/inland - and then place a station at the (new) northern edge of downtown.

Blujitsu's thinking that the railway should extend to the pier while Spartan117ZM is saying the railway should run inland. I agree with Spartan here. The backstory here is that Pine Harbour lost its spur line sometimes in the 1950s when the railroad company running the railway went out of business and abandoned the whole railway. Since then the town has fallen into the metro orbit of a major city that's off the map and the state/province restored the main line as part of its regional rail system. Hence there can be a passenger station and a cargo terminal inland. There are plenty of more appropriate cargo terminals on the Steam Workshop like the Kansas City Southern (KCS) Freight House that City Planner Plays used in his Clearwater County build. 🙂
"expansion of old neighbourhood" I was interested by the street hierarchy, and ample cul-de-sacs, thinking it was anachronistic for an "old" (pre-war) neighbourhood, but I did a little research and it seems these networks actually started popping up in the 30s, not the 50s as I thought. It would make even more sense for a city on the Pacific Ocean. Keep up the good work as usual.

As I suggested last episode, I’ll lean towards a Newcastle light rail style system that connects right up to the harbor/edge of downtown/beach and then runs inland to the train station. Any chance you’d consider using the Sydney Trains assets? They’re a great collection for regional trains
