    About the Lecturer: Jeni Hebert-Beirne
    Dr. Jeni Hebert-Beirne is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Community Health Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Public Health (UIC SPH). She is a community-engaged scholar with expertise in community-based participatory action research (CBPR) with an emphasis on qualitative research, adolescent and women’s health, structural and social determinants of health and place-based health inequities with a focus on Chicago community areas. Her federally and locally funded research generates new knowledge on the social processes producing health inequities while building community and academic capacity to build the infrastructures needed to promote health. Jeni’s research uses social constructionist, feminist and critical lenses and employs primarily focus group, interview, concept mapping methodology. As a CBPR researcher, she invests in member checking throughout her research and invests in novel knowledge translation to advance health justice.
