lol - 'where would I wear this? I don't care. maybe to bed.' I have had these thoughts! thank you for articulating them. that cat color work is also on my list of things to maybe knit.
I had the exact same thoughts about the halibut sweater that converted the second I saw the cat sweater 😂 I’m thinking of maybe getting two patterns and figuring out how to make the cat chart work on DK or worsted weight
I knit the Champagne pullover and have worn it a couple of times. I chose a DK weight 100% alpaca yarn, which is incredibly warm. I do wear a top under the sweater, as the eyelets are too large to modestly wear without it. If I make it again (I likely will, since it was so fun to knit), I'll choose a summery yarn blend with linen, to make it more of a 3 season option.
I love the Merle and Pied patterns and the Liv is Asymmetric, it's designed to be like that, almost tunic - like, great with jeggings or jeans, I'd love to try and make that one, thanks for the video 😊
I’m just finishing up a pied cardigan! Just working on that double knit button band. It works up super quickly which is a relief after a bit of a garment slump and I’ve always loved the look of color blocks. I hope it gains more traction over the coming months
The Catknit sweater is my absolutely favourite :D I already bought a pattern and I have the same thing as you - I just need to have it, even if I will never wear it ;) But I think I will, it's stunning.
1000000% I am going to try to tackle the cat sweater this year. I gasped when I saw that one. I NEED it! I also like the pied sweater. I like how it looks, but the weight of the yarn is where I'm reluctant. I find bulky wool makes my hands tired. I might try to reformat it into dk weight . I'm thinking rosy pink and chocolate milk brown
I have that sari pattern on my list and I am thinking of doing it in a cotton/silk yarn so I can wear it in winter with a T-shirt underneath. Like you I run warm and wearing a T-shirt under a winter sweater is a no no. But I was thinking summer yarn + T-shirt might be ok. Btw your eye make up is beautiful. So talented in many ways 🥰
Great episode. I had to laugh because as much as you were oohing and ahhing over cats and insects, I was eewwwing over here.😀 Glad there are the perfect designers for all of us.
Hi Michelle, big fan of your channel. I totally agree about Anne Ventzel patterns. Beautiful but so unnecessarily complicated… I made Halibut and it came out great! And knitting was such fun 🎉. I actually made and episode about it on my channel but its in polish, so.. 🤷🏼♀️ Thank you for this episode 🤗 Kate
A friend of mine just knit the cat sweater and she did it in DK. I think she put notes on her Ravelry project page marjoriess is her ravelry name. I have the Braidy Loop on my list and I love the V neck because I’m not a fan of that back of the crew neck. So I think I’m going with both the Braidy and the v neck as both don’t have that back detail. I’m glad there’s options for all our different tastes!
Thank you for this video - I don't browse patterns often and I don't think I would have known about the pied cardigan. I am getting that pattern today 🧡
I'm knitting the champagne pullover now and it's definitely always going to be a see-through garment, no matter what yarn you use. I'm doing it in a merino/silk/bamboo blend so it's more of a spring knit that I will wear a tank under for a lighter option!
I can see the tunic-y top would look good over skinny jeans or leggings. I purchased the Anker sweater from petite knits so I am going to learn to knit this year. I am using Loops&Threads Luxe Merino wool blend from Michael's in the color Sedona.
@easilyknitfluenced you recommended that one. And even though I live in Florida I run cold so winter is no fun. And I decided to try the sweater instead of the shirt.
Agree love the Pied cardigan - have not seen before. Merle loop in my Queue. Did just finish the tulip loop sweater - did it in Capra dk - a merino cashmere - love it!! (Just wish I knitted on size 7 needle instead of an 8) The pattern is trustworthy but have to make sure you are exactly on the mark when knitting set up row - first time got it wrong. Would like to do the twist loop sweater but will have to wait for fall finishing two sweaters and then moving into spring knits. Interesting line up thanks for the review.
Oh maaan - I’m a Dane like Anne Wentzel and I did a couple of her models (from non-translated version). I give in - it was such a pain. Even as an advanced knitter I find it very difficult to follow her train of thought! - you’re not the only one. Thanks for inspiring pods. 🇩🇰
I just counted that I made 7 sweaters using her patterns (English version)😳. But it was often difficult to understand what was going on, especially at the very beginning. The entry threshold is not low😅.
I’m glad I’m not the only one! It’s such a shame because I LOVE her whole aesthetic. I just can’t be dealing with all the extra work needed to achieve it
Agree with everything you said, especially with Sari patterns being a lot. I chose her Belle and Sebastian design because it's not so see-through and not too intimidating for me
I knit the Ballard Tee by Sari Nordlund last year. I love how it came out and I’m itching to cast on the next project. I like whimsical knits, but I would pick a smaller project.
I wear a very lightweight silk undershirt under my sweaters, they are wonderful and do not add any bulk. That would mitigate the problem with the lacework pullover sweater and not add bulk.
why would one want to tucks in hand knitted sweaters ? Not only it will make the waist larger but also uncomfortable . I loved the Liv sweater, simple yet original . thank you for the links :)
Because of how HLP rocks those Cos knit tops with a black bra slightly visible through, I want to try wearing the champagne jumper in a similar way. Ha! I swatched 3 possible yarns for Checkerplate the day after it was available. 😂 Similar concerns about fit here. But my inner petrol head NEEDS.
I also really like the pied cardigan, just not sure im interested in the bulky weight gauge. Perhaps thats why it isnt as popular as her other designs 🤔
I was worried when you brought up the bug one you were going to be all 'ew' because I love her designs! I'm not sure which I'm going to knit, maybe the cowl but I'm waiting on some of the other designs she has coming up too, so maybe a hat or something with the cowl motifs.
I made 7 sweaters using Anne Wentzel's patterns. Yeah, her aesthetic resonates with me very well too😅, but I often had to change something to make the knitwear wearable. Unfortunately her sweaters are super oversized with very low armpits and that does not fit my coats and jackets. What a pity that the Spot Regular appeared after such a long time. I have already made its previous version. Now I'm leaning towards thinner knits (without mohair), so I won't go back to her patterns anytime soon.
I feel like pieces like Catknit and leafhopper can be more about creating art and flexing that particular muscle for some people, rather than expanding the wardrobe haha
HOT TAKE!? Good, I Love The Cat & Bug Sweater. Bad -I Have Been Knitting For 20+ Years And I Can Tell You This... I Have A Tendency To Knit Crappily Explained Patterns As A Challenge... BUT -If I Find Myself Searching Ravelry Comments For Answers Or Zooming In On Photos, I Finish It How I Want And Never Buy Another Pattern From That Designer. I'm Sure Some Designers Are Fine Without My Money, But Why Just Give Your Patrons A Giant Finger? 😳 Okay, Yes, You Designed A Pattern, But If You Love Knitting & Want Others To Experience Your Creations And Your Passion... Put Some Explanation In There. 😅
The bug sweater is amazing and love the checkerplate sweater!
lol - 'where would I wear this? I don't care. maybe to bed.' I have had these thoughts! thank you for articulating them. that cat color work is also on my list of things to maybe knit.
Any time! I am going into these more eclectic knits with my eyes wide open 😂
Great video, and I'm in LOVE with the Pied Cardigan! Thanks for discovering it : )
You're welcome! Glad you liked it.

The black and white cardigan is really cool - great find 👏
Thank you!
The Catknit sweater is my absolutely favourite :D I already bought a pattern and I have the same thing as you - I just need to have it, even if I will never wear it ;) But I think I will, it's stunning.
It's so good! I’m going to practice my colorwork a little and then tackle it. I just want to have it, knowing full well it won’t be an every day piece
I LOVE Hannah Louise Poston and think adapting this idea is wonderful! Really enjoy these takes
She’s awesome. Thanks for watching!

Great episode. I had to laugh because as much as you were oohing and ahhing over cats and insects, I was eewwwing over here.😀 Glad there are the perfect designers for all of us.
Hahaha yes! I love wearing this fun stuff and not caring, one of the perks of getting older that I never had in my 20s
Hi Michelle, big fan of your channel.

Thanks for sharing! Maybe I can be convinced to go nautical after I knit all these other animal sweaters 😂
I love the bug sweater! This is why I love these videos you’re doing!
I’m glad you liked it!

Oh terrific, ill see if I can find her notes then. Thank you!
Sari is one of my favs! That beige mock neck....no way! :)
I definitely want to knit something by Sari this year
Thank you for this video - I don't browse patterns often and I don't think I would have known about the pied cardigan. I am getting that pattern today 🧡
You are very welcome! I hope you enjoy it!
@easilyknitfluenced I realized it's bulky yarn and I don't have that in stash. I am forced to go to my local yarn shop to pick some out. 🥰
I'm knitting the champagne pullover now and it's definitely always going to be a see-through garment, no matter what yarn you use. I'm doing it in a merino/silk/bamboo blend so it's more of a spring knit that I will wear a tank under for a lighter option!
Thanks for the feedback - this is what I was afraid of. Maybe she’ll use the same stitch pattern in something else one day
I can see the tunic-y top would look good over skinny jeans or leggings.
I purchased the Anker sweater from petite knits so I am going to learn to knit this year. I am using Loops&Threads Luxe Merino wool blend from Michael's in the color Sedona.
Anker was my first knitted garment too!
@easilyknitfluenced you recommended that one. And even though I live in Florida I run cold so winter is no fun. And I decided to try the sweater instead of the shirt.

I bet that’s beautiful. I’ll check out Capra DK! Haven’t heard of that yarn before

@ like limbo dance sort of entry 😂
I’m glad I’m not the only one! It’s such a shame because I LOVE her whole aesthetic. I just can’t be dealing with all the extra work needed to achieve it
Very fun video. I'm up for a colorwork challenge this year, but reject fish, cats and insects. ISO the perfect blend.
Maybe someone else will create another animal themed round yoke sweater 😂
Agree with everything you said, especially with Sari patterns being a lot. I chose her Belle and Sebastian design because it's not so see-through and not too intimidating for me
Great choices. I think I’m going to start with one of her hats and see if I can build up to a garment
I knit the Ballard Tee by Sari Nordlund last year. I love how it came out and I’m itching to cast on the next project. I like whimsical knits, but I would pick a smaller project.
That’s a beautiful one!
I love your knitting hot takes!!
Thank you!
I also did save the Pied Cardigan on my IG. Nice to see that you also noticed this pattern. 🤗
It's so good!
The pied cardigan is gorgeous ❤ I went straight to rav to save it, turns out i favourited it in November 😂
Yes! It hasn’t gotten a lot of fanfare and I really don’t know why
Love this type of video!
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
You can use the chart to make a throw blanket for the Cat Knit
Great idea!
I really like the pied also! It would be cool if the black was boucle and the tan was regular bulky yarn. I might have to do that!
Yes! I think you could really have fun with it. I also think maaaybe I could get away with an Aran yarn for it??
@easilyknitfluenced right! It's so versatile that even alternating colors would be neat. I bet Aran would be just fine!
Imagine that Champagne sweater layered over a totally contrasting long sleeve T? Like white yarn over a red shirt. 😍
I think that would look incredible!
I LOVE the Calm Down sweater and Cardigan from Lily Kate France, so you may want to check those out, too. I really enjoy your hot takes!
Thanks, I’ll check them out! I’m always looking for more to add to the list.
I wear a very lightweight silk undershirt under my sweaters, they are wonderful and do not add any bulk. That would mitigate the problem with the lacework pullover sweater and not add bulk.
I love that tip, thanks for sharing!
why would one want to tucks in hand knitted sweaters ? Not only it will make the waist larger but also uncomfortable . I loved the Liv sweater, simple yet original . thank you for the links :)
Thanks for watching!
Love the cat sweater, don't love small needles 🤷. I do hope you knit it so I can live vicariously.
Small needles are my nemesis, too 😂
Because of how HLP rocks those Cos knit tops with a black bra slightly visible through, I want to try wearing the champagne jumper in a similar way.
Ha! I swatched 3 possible yarns for Checkerplate the day after it was available. 😂 Similar concerns about fit here. But my inner petrol head NEEDS.
It’s awesome. I may stash dive for the checkerplate, tbd!
I also really like the pied cardigan, just not sure im interested in the bulky weight gauge. Perhaps thats why it isnt as popular as her other designs 🤔
You’re probably right. I wonder if you could get away with a fluffy Aran yarn
I was worried when you brought up the bug one you were going to be all 'ew' because I love her designs! I'm not sure which I'm going to knit, maybe the cowl but I'm waiting on some of the other designs she has coming up too, so maybe a hat or something with the cowl motifs.
I love insects - aside from knitting I’m also very into native gardening. I love watching all the critters in my garden beds in the warmer months
Thank you for sharing - I think I’m in the same boat. There is over sized and then low armpits, I need to be able to wear my coats with my knitwear on
I feel like pieces like Catknit and leafhopper can be more about creating art and flexing that particular muscle for some people, rather than expanding the wardrobe haha
Is that leafhopper motif what I would call a grasshopper? Or different?
Yes, I think it’s a grasshopper
I want to do the cat one because I am also a crazy cat lady.
The bug one just looks like roaches so no thank you. 😅
😂😂😂😂
