If memory serves me correctly, Tarpon is actually like a D school, their members are probably just GREAT fundraisers :p Great show as always, Tarpon Springs!
The reason schools like Tarpon Springs,Harrison, Wando, and others are so successful is the schools dont split and have HUGE enrollments. Plus, the community loves the band as much as any sports team and supports all their functions, fundraisers,etc. The biggest reason is PARENTS!! Parents who are involved and committed to making their program a success. This makes all the difference. You can have all the money in the world but without parental involvement, you are dead in the water!
It's Tarpon Springs. They're like the Ohio State University band of Florida. I LOVE being able to see them every year and get a change to perform even on the same field that they do!!
If you want the true definition of a show band look at drumline the movie . This band is great and their students would be a great asset to any college band progam.
I saw this show at a competition....wasnt in love with it. You guys don't play much....I bet your theatre program is amazing.....cuz thats all this show is. I often saw your drumline hanging behind the sound....but great wind ensamble!
See this show was a lot better at the FBA competition in Florida. I mean just the first movement was 20 times better. Everyone opened their umbrellas at the EXACT same time, arches were perfect. Love Tarpon!
Robert E. Lee HS Marching Band did this show this past year and from what I watched, they had the same exact drill as Tarpon. Whomever did the show design cheated them out by using the same drill -- very unforunate.
I saw the show live last year at boa it was great but it lacks music which ok because it made up in great visuals and colorguard was incredible not one drop
@brown55061 LOTS AND LOTS OF FUNDRAISING! We are blessed to have an amazingly well run booster organization. It takes countless hours of dedication and participation from all of the parents, students, instructors, as well as the alumni & community to make these opportunities possible for our kids.
How do high schools get the money needed to travel with a show like that??? My high school could barely afford to replace broken drum heads or pay their teachers. Cool show!
@drmbeaufort lol wonder who's idea that was... well to NOT have a drumline, then to FINALLY get a drumline... strange band program, I LOVE YOU GUYS [no hatin here]
i know this is a old comment but oh well some schools just give band programs money mine doesnt it all goes to our sucky football team but we have a awesome band booster club
They are sponsored by disney. Thats the end of it. If they dont win a major competition then disney wont fund them anymore. Thats that. That is why they are good-ish.
thery are sponserd by disney so they do their shows based off disney movies like this they did it based off alice in wonderland and disney paid for every thing
I wonder if the students realize they are playing recycled music from their previous shows. I really hope they do because if you watch their 2010 show then this, a lot of the music is the same with minor changes. Wasn't ispecting to see the section features from 8:25 to 8:50 in there because that's recycled from the end of their 2008 show. Someone from Tarpon please tell me you've realized this too!
Tarpon Springs doesn't have a drumline. They use a computer kinda of like VoiceOver thing. Also, unlike regular high school students, they start learning their music and drill in January so that gives them a 6 month head start. This band is a show band and shouldn't be in this competition.
I hate to break it to you but we start learning out actual show maybe in July or so maybe a bit later even then we always change so many things in it. We don’t compete to win we do it to give the audience an experience they won’t forget.
This show DESERVES this many views.
Tarpon did such an awesome job! Congratulations to all of you!
Instablaster.
I LOVE Tarpon!!! Their shows always keep me on the edge of my seat, but since I'm sitting on my roof, this may not be a good idea....
can't beat that tarpon swag
If memory serves me correctly, Tarpon is actually like a D school, their members are probably just GREAT fundraisers :p

We saw this live. It was jaw dropping. A well-deserved championship performance!
so happy this is my field show this year!! cant wait till band camp next week!
THIS IS FREAKING AMAZING. It is basically like a dc and I am like 4 hours away from this school! Awesome!
I'm a Clayton High School band member. I wish we would get a show with this style.
I get a definate American McGee's Alice vibe off of this. I really enjoy the show. Very clean, intricate drill. Hats off to you Tarpon Springs!

A lot of them were working incorrectly, they had survived a whole season at this point and new ones weren't about to be bought.
Very entertaining show.
Our school is doing this this year.

Jaw-droppingly good
See this show was a lot better at the FBA competition in Florida. I mean just the first movement was 20 times better. Everyone opened their umbrellas at the EXACT same time, arches were perfect. Love Tarpon!
well their band fee for each individual is $2000 a year so, there's that
@lehoalananh
Yes, and in years past. Tarpon Springs will have a drumline from here on.
God i hated competing against you guys at seminole every year but your shows were so entertaining
sooo good
Yet so is River Ridge and our band is only 58 people with a 5 person guard.... We don't have uniforms for guard yet either..
Lake Howell Silver Regiment is where it is at. Check us out.
Robert E. Lee HS Marching Band did this show this past year and from what I watched, they had the same exact drill as Tarpon. Whomever did the show design cheated them out by using the same drill -- very unforunate.
Tick Tock. Tick Tock. ALICE!
@choji98 You need to contact Kevin Ford at Tarpon Springs High School.
I saw the show live last year at boa it was great but it lacks music which ok because it made up in great visuals and colorguard was incredible not one drop

@brown55061 LOTS AND LOTS OF FUNDRAISING!

How do high schools get the money needed to travel with a show like that??? My high school could barely afford to replace broken drum heads or pay their teachers. Cool show!
@lehoalananh
Look closely. There definitely is a drumline this year.
@TheMattcarstensen Is there any particular reason for this? I'm curious because I love this show :)
Nine snares! I only hear 3....
is there anyway we could buy this field show? i'd love to do it next year for my high school
@drmbeaufort lol wonder who's idea that was... well to NOT have a drumline, then to FINALLY get a drumline... strange band program, I LOVE YOU GUYS [no hatin here]
@AnthonyKeeter so was that whole no drumline thing only for last year's show?
i agree
Who else thought the title said Tampon Strings?
yeah
i know this is a old comment but oh well some schools just give band programs money mine doesnt it all goes to our sucky football team but we have a awesome band booster club
I guess Blue Stars will do this in a few years
@ASnareM A school for 09-10. B school for 10-11
i wonder what their budget is...
Why isn't Tarpon going to Nats?!
The only form of marching battery to be performed is marching snares, UNTIL...nevermind.
i dont think that he would want to sell his work.....
They are sponsored by disney. Thats the end of it. If they dont win a major competition then disney wont fund them anymore. Thats that. That is why they are good-ish.
We earn and work hard for all the money in fund raiser and what not.
wait so why didn't they have a drumline in 2010 and then they have a 9 person snare line in this video? Or are those not snares?
no theyre not, otherwise it would be shown on their website and such.
thery are sponserd by disney so they do their shows based off disney movies like this they did it based off alice in wonderland and disney paid for every thing
lol sounds like my school
Tarpon Springs Outdoor Performance ensemble is NOT affiliated with Disney, or magical money printing land of pixie dust and fairies.
You lie, you claimed you were from oak grove high school in Alabama in another video
@HaleyB1227 lol well seeing as how they dont include drumline in their budget.....
@brown55061 A LOT of fundraising

They Awesome but but not as awesome as Fort Mill High School Marching Band. Fort Mill has went up against them and won.
No they won
Tarpon Springs doesn't have a drumline. They use a computer kinda of like VoiceOver thing. Also, unlike regular high school students, they start learning their music and drill in January so that gives them a 6 month head start. This band is a show band and shouldn't be in this competition.
