JJ is not underrated-- he might not be as famous to the general public, but to those who've been in the community since the 90's, hes an absolute legend.
Btw. My brother was boxing at this point. Was 100% done with mma and wanted no part of doing Abu Dhabi. He did it so a couple of the guys from our team could go they didn’t want. He told the promoter I’ll go if you let Troy Waugh in. He could have cared less about going. Taking nothing away from JJ but Mikey didn’t even train for this. Couldn’t wait for it to be over. Said he didn’t want to stand with JJ Bc he knew he couldn’t take him down so he shot in and took him down and said f it. I was there before he left. Know exactly why he went. People mooched off of Mikey Michael more than you’ll ever be mooched off of for 2 drinks.
I agree Scott, this was no big deal to Mikey. I remember this because I trained with you all in East Tulsa at the time. Mikey was a great guy and I still have a lot of respect and admiration for him
Whether it wasn't a big deal, or that he didn't care doesn't really matter. Even if he had trained hard the outcome would have been the same. No disrespect to your brother who was a solid fighter, but JJM was another level grappler.
God bless you for looking after that bum, mikey has been though some bad times, like a lot of humans.we need more people like you sir!thankyou and god bless.
You sound like a little troll bi+ch! Did you fight Pat Miletich for the ufc ww title? Did you have a jiu-jitsu match with Machado? Did you train with Mezger, Bohlander, Telligman, White, Ken, and Frank? Did you beat Saunders and Tadeu? Were you on the Ultimate Fighter? Have you done seminars with Ken Shamrock and Chris Lytle? NO! Shut your bi+@# a$$ up!

He was so smooth. His transitions were beautiful. His mount control was solid. Just an under rated grappler.
yeah JJ is the MAN!

Far from underrated. Back then everyone who did BJJ knew JJM. Guy was great
Old school HBO tune at intro. Nice!
Ha ha cool right?
JJ a legend

I trained with Mikey 2006-07 in Tulsa at Apollo’s .Great coach. Strong as a bear. Miss those days.
You saying that makes it make sense why he would get smothered the way he did. It was surely an honor to roll with a legend.
Why wouldn't he have just tapped with the first americana?

Jean Jaques: MITO!!!
Anyone else notice Bruce Buffer announcing in the background?
Apart from the beautiful double leg it was a very one sided match..
I think he knew the double was coming and let it bring him to butterfly.
what was the finish?
Ezekiel
If it was a mma fight a real fight Machado would have lost
Maybe
That's irrelevant. If punching and kicking were allowed in basketball, MMA guys could win that, too.
Is that what your crystal ball said?
the great gama would have beat them all!
who?
Mikey Burnett...was a bum. He was trying to mooch drinks and sleep on our room floor every ufc I went to

Michael Lavazza why didn’t you kick his bum ass then? Bc you would have gotten butt taped by a bum. When you saw him why didn’t you call him a bum?

I've been to Mikey's gym, he's a legit guy. He knows his stuff.
