I just hit act 2 in my honour mode run and am thinking about this fight coming up. The invis for surprise and Scratch to free Aelyn is a great trick. After that, seems mostly like a damage check before things start to get hairy! Oh, and knowing you can skip to the Myrkyl phase with that roll is nice, too. Thanks for the vid!
In order to get that that option to skip his human phase in this Myrkul fight, you need to get him to agree to surrender in the first fight at Moonrise. I have the explanation in the video before this one. And it is pretty much a DPR fight, try to get as much in as possible and hope that Nightsong gives him a good whack and you should be good.
What really helped me in this fight on honor mode was the arrow of Ilmater. Stops him from healing. Then I threw water on him and hit him with a ton of lightning. Getting Scratch to go to Aylin was genius!
BRO. THANK YOU FOR THIS. Even with the "noble" art of barrelmancy at my disposal, this fight was insane for me because I have been keeping my honor mode party hamstrung on purpose by keeping my main character out of most fights. I wouldn't have been able to get through this with my three level eights (fighter, cleric, rogue/ranger) without the surprise element and scratch tip allowing me to wail on him before any skellies even made it to the platform. Kudos, bravo, blessings unto your playthroughs. I'm SO GLAD I'M DONE THIS FIGHT.
Oh god no one is ready for what I learned. Fun fact I learned when fighting him. Remember the ring you get in the Chest at the top of moonrise tower? Well that ring’s command… actually affects Myrkul. So if you use Command: drop on him using a high charisma character… he drops his scythe and practically loses all of his power. I’m not messing around. It works.
Tested this on tactician playthrough before doing it on my honor mode run and initially has issues with triggering the dialogue but figured it was the distance I was attacking from, got it to work on my honor mode run and I totally mopped the apostle of Myrkul. Thank you! 😊
Ran into the same problem in my first honor run, i did however not test it and believe me when i say i started to panic. Thankfully 2 paladin and a monk were strong enough to power through anyway
To anyone needing any help with this that maybe did not prep as much as these help videos reccomemd you do. Here are some tips for what helped me on honour mode. 1) have someone , either cast or use a scroll of a wall of fire right across his pit, it does pretty good damage and will help wear him down. Have your caster be someone with good saving chances so as not to get interrupted. 2) ignore the summons. Just try and focus him with everything you have as hard as you can 3) cast anything which will help you get advantage attacks on him. If you can get something like faie light, moon light butterflies, guiding bolt etc... or anything like that on him, even better. Fire and radiant damage do well against him. ( for anyone on console ) cheese tip If you are on honor mode, and your party is about to die, or the fight is not going well. Hard quit your game , go back to dashboard. And reload your game. It will start from last save depending where you saved, but will save your honor run.
@thedude5193 yeah if you are at a point where you know the fight is lost, if you press the guide button, then force quit the game you can avoid it saving after a bad fight and loosing your progress. You can load the game up again, and it will start you off from your last save point.
@nyxxn7198 The game automatically saves the second all your characters die. So catch it before they do. Even if you have one character left that's barely alive. If you hard quit, then it will go back to the last save before the fight began, but the second you all die , it will save it as a failed honour run. So you NEED to do it before it's too late. If you see the fight is not going your way, and it's probably likely you will lose, just hard quit.
To everyone watching this video: the dialogue will not always trigger this way. It's not a bad set up but be prepared to still fight the first phase regardless. Use the surprise round to free Aylin with scratch and kill the mind flayer. I completely forgot about the mind flayer and just skipped everyone but Scratch's turn to just get to the dialogue.
