Not that much, really. I started one month ago and had problems only the first few days. I am now level 45 and have 101 slots in my inventory and 110 in my bank. I still have it full nearly all the time due to my "eh, might need it later" mentality but it is far less frustrating than you'd think now. I spend nearly all my money in upgrading my space though, but since i am not yet even near max cp and full equipment that is still not a problem as my only expanse beside inventory are motifs. A quick tip i can give is to farm those beautiful telvar stones for the chests at home, so you can throw inside all the consumables and armors and save the bank for the crafting.

The style material, you don't need all of them, but I would save shimmering sand and culanda laquers for housing. And any other material for housing.
If you don't care about housing, then sell them. But only sell them at a trader, since they are worth good amount.

Thanks for the video! I don't have ESO+ but I have bought 3 60-slot chests by doing master writs. I keep all mats except provisioning in bank. Chest 1 is for misc items (events, consumables, furnishing mats), chest 2 is for monster sets, chest 3 is for style mats (which I doubt I'll use all), and the 30-slot free chest for all traits. It's working out for now as long as I visit the bank and house both after deconstructing.

From a guy that is currently only lvl 30 I went into ESO understanding that inventory management will be a pain. Im cheap and dont have a ton of play time so eso plus isnt a viable solution for me. However I've managed to skimp by fairly well. I focused on deconstructing / selling anything I dont need for research that Im not currently wearing. I toss all of my materials in the bank and sell all mats Im not focused on or using on the guild trader. For the 10 mins a session I put in for inventory review / management its really not that crazy to keep under control.

It's probably worth mentioning that if you just want to quest around in the regular game there's no need to get into the crafting side of things as that's where the huge inventory suck is. There are hundreds of hours of "non-end game" content that can all be easily overpowered by a normally leveled character wearing quest / guild store bought stuff. Sell anything you can't use and go on the next quest. There are so many crafters in the game it's really not that hard to find someone to make something for you if you ever can't find what you need.

So as a player that survive without eso+ for 800cp playtime, there is a one quality of life change needed for crafting: the ability to set where the mats should be taken from. The current situation is that after your eso+free trial expire, when u craft it always take the material from craft bag instead of bank or inventry with cause a bad loop which fill your space to fill quick bec u r not spending mats from your space but your craft bag. This quality of life change will make players life without eso+ much easier. I am nobody so hope u can spread this idea to ZOS ears to make this idea come true :3

There should be a craft bag included with the base game. Just a limited one. Maybe only 200 max of each item, maybe only 100, but it would make a big difference for new players. The fancy unlimited craftbag would still a big draw, plus the DLC access, the good deal on crowns, Crown store exclusive items and deals, the double bank space, the double transmute stone space, the double furnishing space in your homes, gold and xp bonuses, and I might be forgetting some things,.. oh yeah you can dye your costumes with the sub :) The sub is a great value. They don't need to cripple the inventory system in the game in my opinion to sell them. What they need to do is uncripple it so that new players don't get so upset they quit the game before they become hooked and then they'll probably buy the sub at least every once in while. I feel bad for console players that try to no-life this game without a craftbag if there actually are any people like that. I couldn't deal with it without addons.

A personal guild bank, the housing storage coffers, and multiple alts combined with the eso+ free trials make it more manageable. Just hoard everything you don't immediately need somewhere other than your personal bank and your main's inventory until an eso+ free trial comes around and dump everything into the craft bag then.

You still have lots of space for everything. And if you use your brain a little bit you will realize that you don't need every single material in the game to do daily writs, just the more imporant ones. what i do instead is create different characters for each crafting profession (some characters have two crafting professions). that way the inventory space is split up across different bags. then i put things that are used by multiple crafting lines like trait materials and furninshing materials in the bank, since you can craft using materials in the bank.

I would add crafting items for crafting writs- i.e keep a stack of ta runes in the bank since every enchanting writ uses them. Crafting writs are worth the gold, mat, and inspiration rewards.
Also, ETA, there are great add-ons for inventory management that mark things as junk, auto sell or destroy, auto deposit in bank, etc.

You can do fine without the Crafting Bag, but you have to dedicate some time to manage your inventory very often.
    Here are some suggestions:
    - Install Advanced Filters addon, this hugely helps when withdrawing or depositing items selectively.
    - Also install the addon (I don't remember the name) which tracks ALL your account items, Inventory Management I think.
    - One character which carries all runes and does all the enchanting.
    - One character to use as a banker for crafting materials, like metals, clothes, hide and style materials in one or more stacks.
    - Have one main crafting character which carries everything else, like provisioning and alchemy ingredients.
    - Keep in bank the materials more frequently used, like the ones needed for crafting writs.
    - I sell everything else when they make up stacks. The rest of my characters carry sets.

Inventory management - actually allows you to set rules and profiles that automatically let's you deposit and pull out certain items from your bank automatically when you open it. It's great. Inventory Insight is the one that opens a window and lets you see where your stuff is stored on your account on different banks and characters etc.. That one is SUPER important.

I keep expensive flowers and a few other things but only if I'm running out. If it's something worth a lot but I don't need it, I sell it, eg styling mats. Even with a subscription. ESO stuffs your inventory with incomprehensible junk. Especially "Treasures". There are many kinds of "treasures". Is this useful? Does it relate to some collection achievement? Can I sell it? Do I need to keep this stupid thing for some reason? I spend so much time dicking around with my inventory, and I subscribe. All of the crafting mats you could keep in chests in your house as well as trait gems or styles, this should give you an inventory that is filled with around 50 different items wich isn't that much so if you have a max inv space you have more than 150 space in inv, you should also have space leftover in your bank

This may not be useful for a new player, but once you get to max level getting gold becomes easy. Even though I have ESO+ I still often buy crafting materials from the guild traders. Sure, you might pay over 100,000 to make a gold quality weapon, but you have so much gold that is nothing. Despite making lots of items, buying lots of items, and never ever farming ever, I still have 12 million gold and it only ever goes up. Also - big tip - never gold out armor. It’s only marginally better than purple quality but it costs 10x more. Gold weapons are a lot better though, so gold those.

If you are going to do crafting writs to make gold you are going to have to keep the mats for those in your bank and it's a lot. I recommend using mule characters to keep gear, motifs, other odd items so you can have room in your bank for the mats you need. For provisioning writs just keep the food you need need in your bank. Destroy or store on a mule character the provisioning ingredients, you don't really need them all. If you are on PC use automatic banking addons like inventory manager or bank manager revived and to auto destroy items that are worth very little I recommend Dustman addon. It takes a long while to set these addons up on several characters unfortunately but it makes it so much easier. There is also guild bank storage if you make a guild with 10 people. There are housing storage chests you can acquire various ways as well. Also if you can afford it pay for the subscription once every blue moon or wait for a free ESO plus trial which usually last like 5 days. because all your mats with go into the craft bag and you don't lose the stuff after the sub ends. You can take out but not put in is how it works when you are not on a subscription.

What if 80% of my inventory bag and bank are items waiting to be researched?

  • @matthewpaul583
    @matthewpaul583 5 років тому +1

So I’ve been playing for about 3 weeks, I’m about to hit level 30. My bag, bank, and the 30 item chest in my house are all full of equipment I have yet to research. Problem is every time I go on an outing I come back and then have to decide what to keep and what to deconstruct. I’m deconstructing pretty much everything that has traits I consider outside of the general playstyle of what they’re intended for so like sturdy light armor, or Mundas heavy armor. I’d just like to know if you have any further advice relating to this conundrum of having too much gear to research and how to prioritize it so I’m not spending 30 minutes in between dungeons and quests managing inventory. Thanks!

    • @dottzgaming
      @dottzgaming  5 років тому +1

Using an add-on like research assistant or other trait research management add-ons will help alot with this. It marks pieces you're saving for research with a red dot, pieces you don't need for research with a gray, or pieces you need to research but have a better item to use for it with a yellow (each addon uses it's own color coordination system). That's what I used when I started

Ive been using free eso plus trial for the past week and I noticed that with the huge craftbag i spend most of the time scrolling up and down through the massive lists and im starting to miss the old non-plus way of managing inventory whic was simplier and lists were shorter too.
I would however pay one month of eso plus when im ready to spend a month farming the same plus-only dungeon trying to get the armor sets that I want.
Right now i got what i wanted, frozen watcher, and i only had eso plus for a week.
Ill have to research which other plus-only (dlc) sets i would like so i can spend the whole month grinding for them, craft bag is good but is not game breaking in anyway, its just for the lazy-hoard it all player.
When i want to craft a set for a low level char id just but a 200 stack of the material needed and be done with it.

Let's calculate the amount of slots you need to craft, for example, an average full set of legendary 160cp gear, glyph-enchanted, with some food and a set of potions (1 stack each).
    1) 3 weapons, dual-weild + bow. Base material : 220x rubedite + 120x ruby ash = 3 slots. Upgrade mats : 4 for blacksmithing, 4 for woodworking = 8 extra slots. Trait mats : up to 3 slots. Style mats : 1-3 slots. Total : 13-17 slots.
    2) Armor. If we go for medium or light over heavy, we will not save up the upgrade material slots. Anyway, 930 mats for the base set = 5 slots. Upgrade mats = 0/4 slots, 1 extra trait slot to be sure, and 1 extra style slot to be sure again. Total : 5-11 slots.
    3) jewelry : 350 mats = 2 slots, 4-8 slots for upgrade (8 if you have leftover unrefined platings), up to 3 trait mats. Total : 7-13.
    4) Glyphs for all the gear (Probably the hardest part because they can vary), but : 1 "aspect", 1 "subtract", 1 "add" stone, around 5 different essences on average. 8 on average.
    5) Potions : 3 different ones, 1 stack each : 9 stacks of ingredients, 3 stacks of solvents. 12 slots.
    6) Food. Let's keep at 1 type for 4 slots for ingredients on average.
    Materials total : 49-65.
Now for all the stuff you've just made, discounting the ideal situation that you've just made it and have no mat leftovers, let's add it up. 3 weapons + 7 armor, 1 amulet, 2 rings total to 13 gear pieces, with glyphs being an extra 13, making 26 slots. Add 3 potion stacks and 1 food stack, we have 30 slots.
If we have leftovers (Which yes we will), we'll need up to 95 slots for a single order, maybe more if it's more complicated than average. If you think we're living in an ideal world where there is only 1 order, think again, you'll need a lot more aspect runes, ingredients for alchemy, a couple of thousands of each refined mat, about a stack of every trait mat and upgrade mats + their raw jewelry versions sometimes even style mats for picky orders. The list goes on and on. Oh and you need extra slots if you wanna gather mats for furnishing stuff which sells well, and free slots to refine everything raw. The list goes on and on. And somehow you need to carry a couple of gear sets as well. Being a crafter and doing orders is hell without eso+ and the craftbag, if you say otherwise, you're a madman

    1. All "base" top tier crafting mats (one stack only).
    2. All upgrade mats.
    3. All reagents (one stack only).
    4. Top tier solvents for potions & poisons (one stack only).
    5. All "effect" types of glyphs, for the level material - only top tier.
    6. All provisioning crafting mats, since they can be used in high level food / drinks (one stack only).
    7. Style materials - Base crafting "racial" style (for daily crafting quests), and all others "rare" too (again, one stack only).
    8. All trait material, again, for daily crafting.
    9. "Main" Raw materials (top tier only) - I keep in my inventory, not in bank. Jewellery raw trait material I keep in my Bank.
    10. All other materials I keep in one of my housing chest.
    11. All other gear I need I keep in my other housing storage chest & Alt's inventory.
I ended up with 238 / 240. I can still get rid of Jejota & Denata rune, as those have little to no use.

Step 1. Make as many characters as you can. If you are an Altoholic, make 1 of each class for future playing.
Step 2. Give 250,000 gold to each.
Step 3. Buy as many pack expansions as you can while leaving 30,000 gold for each.
Step 4. Park the characters at the Stables.
Step 5. Log each character in each day and get the pack expansion for 60 days.
Now enjoy your 1000+ pack spaces which would allow you to have each type of main material on different mules.
    Mule 1: Blacksmithing
    Mule 2: Clothing
    Mule 3: Woodworking
    Mule 4: Cooking
Mule 5: Jewelry and Enchanting, master writs
Mule 6: trait, style, motifs, recipes

But with a constant membership payment. They now make 2 billion+ every few years. And that's why hoarders have problems with these games they spend thousand of dollars on these games to get gear they want but will never use.

easy way I found, max out your bank first, get a couple storage crates for your house. A 30 slot storage crate is good for all enchanting mats, everythng else can pretty much fit in your bank, and a mod that allows you to just dump everything into your bank just by talking to a banker is a must.
