Description: "Norwegian Romantic Landscape Painter Anders Monsen Askevold was born in Sunfjord in 1834. From 1847 until 1854, he became a student of Hans Leganger Reusch. He opened his first exhibition in Bergen. Painter worked with H. L. Reusch. In 1855 Germany went to Düsseldorf.
From 1855 to 1858, he became a student of Hans Fredrik Gude in Düsseldorf. During this time he worked on dramatization of reality. Besides Gude, he was influenced by August Cappelen and Erik Bodom.
19th century is the most important painters of late romance in Norway. All his work reflected motives from Norway. It was often compared to contemporary Albert Bierstadt by art critics."

I really enjoy these LearnFromMasters series. Although not my usual tastes, many of the paintings in this video were quite captivating verging on an almost magic realism with both the color and light contrasts. Thank You for bringing so many artists to our attention that we might not have had another way to see before. Best Wishes All !
