- For their first video game soundtrack project, noisy instrumental band 65daysofstatic certainly picked a blinder. Exploring the uncharted universe of No Man’s Sky needed a suitably sci-fi audio accompaniment and 65daysofstatic rose to the challenge of creating a soundtrack that included procedural elements to match the many and varied choices the player would make in the game.
For the first time, Laced Records, 65daysofstatic and Hello Games are excited to unveil the first live video recording of three tracks from the No Man’s Sky soundtrack. The live video was recorded at 2fly Studios in the band’s native city, Sheffield in the UK, and includes live performances of Red Parallax, Monolith and Asimov. - Ігри

I don't understand the dislikes here! I know the game has its issues, but come on: the soundtrack and sound design in No Man's Sky are perfect!

Sadly we live in the days of instant gratification. . Even sadder its spread to game companies. Great things take time, plus Hello games is doing the amazing feat of continuing on this one game. :)
Mário Lopes I've seen them live many times, been following them since 05 or 06. Can't describe how pride and in awe of them I am every time I see them live.

Mark Pentler everytime I see them live it's like a drug hit or witness an upgrade. They used to be a brilliantly made steam train, watch them today and it's like seeing a super fast mag lev train (if you get my meaning).

I skimmed through their music and I honestly choose to standby their performance of Asimov for No Man's Sky is the ultimate culmination of their talent. Nevermind it's a video game. It is so easy to get captivated by the emotions that are brought on by listening to it. The first time I played and the song began, I actually teared up. It's such a powerful song, even without any vocals. Going back and listening to this, outside of the game, it delivered just as powerfully as the first time.
Possibly one of the best game soundtracks ever. Whatever you think of the game, the music fits the vibe of it unbelievably well, just perfect. Huge influence on me musically over the last year. Awesome to see a studio session, even if I don't really understand 3/4 of what they are doing :)
Agreed! I miss the days of awesome original soundtracks for games, as in Bungie's Oni and Atari's Tempest 2k ...
Oh no look at all the dislikes. No Mans Sky may not be the most impressive game, but people have to admit the game had one phenomenal soundtrack. Well done 65daysofstatic...

"asimov" might just be one of the best "postrock" songs ever written. this live performance is flawless..

Well they really fucked up a lot of aspects.
That's what happens when you try to make a game with a budget larger than you have. I saw it coming. 2 updates later its already much better. Don't regret my purchase at all.
I love how their music sounds so obscure. It's different.. sounds like nothing else. Very unique.
Not really. You just don't listen to a lot of post rock. Nothing in the music world is original. That ship sailed 100s of years ago.

Asimov is an absolutely stellar track from this amazing band!
Despite what people may think of this game the sound design was beautiful. It was just the right amount of electronic and orchestral to give it that trippy sci-fi feel. well done
UA-cam algo apparently wants me to be reminded of my commitment to NMS circa 2016. Good game. Then and now. But, the music is what swept me away in those early days.

Wow these guys have definitly understood percusion. Anyone who likes this should also listen to their other albums. Not quite the same but equally as awesome, if not better.
I had a meet and greet in the Netherlands with them once. We had an awesome conversation about the science behind the game and how that correlates with the music. The concert after was was amazing. Very different from what I ever experienced.

I read this right as that point came up. Imagine zooming out of a galaxy and into another as a sort of mid in game achievement. That's the intensity here. And where I've heard it in game. One of the most beautiful communities as well. ♦️🫡
I never played this game and I don't know if I'll take time to play it one day but I listened many many times to the soundtrack and it is really good

One of my favourite game soundtracks of recent times; Such an amazing soundscape to loose yourself into. Heck, I haven't even played the game yet, but the soundtrack album practically lives in my CD changer.

I love the music in No Man's Sky, especially all of the opening music at the startup screen. I wish I could find hours worth of it to listen too.

Say about the game what you want (I like it), but this is one of the best bands out there and one of the best soundtracks to a game.
The soundtrack is awsome, so trippy so fitting with the atmosphere and the texture of synths drummashine and guitar is unique.... But what the hell they are doing on the pc... Are they coding there music automation?

Plus the game is bad for an 80 dollar game but 20 and under it just feels like a decent early access game. Im sure over time it will become better.

As far as I'm concerned, the game's detractors are eating their words. They may still compare Hello Games to triple-A developers who can't put out a finished product, but they don't bear in mind exactly how small of an outfit Hello Games are. Three years later, that small team have exceeded their original pitch; the game may be slightly different, but it is everything Murray promised and more. The last three years have just been transit. If they had sent it to early access, people would say it was just a three year crutch. Murray made the right call. I love No Man's Sky for what it is and for what it isn't. Easily one of the most important titles of the decade.
Sony doesn't allow EA. There was no other call. It was cancel the entire project and never sell it. Or release it when they did. Despite popular belief Sony and NMS had no contract. Nor can they. HG turned them down after the flood. Company policy makes it legally not possible. Sony simply did advertising for them like they do many indie game every year. Except with NMS they recognized how much money they would make them, so they made them one of their indie showcases for an extended period of time. But Sony couldn't back the game in any other way. It was strictly Advertising of the PS4 version of the game. As they have rights to do with any game digitally published on their store.

Longtime 65dos fan. I've been looking to branch out to different bands to follow for the latest in experimental sounds but 65dos just refuses to give up the baton. I guess 25 years of pushing the limits means you're at the forefront.
Had no idea these guys did the music for this game... then again I never played it.

I love this band,too bad they got dragged into this epic overhyped mess of a game,i thought it is gonna help them,more exposure for them,but bcs of Sony that pressured the developers to release the game premature it only hurt them,the dislike ratio is not even fair for such an awesome session,ohh well what can you do :|
Sony didn't pressure HG at all. Fans didn't pressure HG. HG wasn't scamming anyone. HG just ran out of money. Rather anti-climatic I know but its the truth.
I think the game's got them the exposure regardless of its reception.
The only redeeming quality of NMS is its soundtrack and resonable people recognize this.
And among those there's a big bunch that didn't know about the band, but now do.
It's a net-win for 65dos boys in my book.
This is not the last time we see them doing a soundtrack, i'm sure of it.
After 7 months without playing the game, I went to play it yesterday, installed and performed all the update of the game, started the game normally, spent 10 minutes the game locked and turned off my PS4 PRO, detail, I am using External HD, when I called The PS4 again the system had to recover the database of my PS4 PRO and my External HD, disappointed with the game.
Yes, but I moved the game from the External HD to the Internal of the PS4 and when I play I will disassemble the External HD to avoid future unwanted disconnections caused by the game.
Elvis Seibt I have no issues at all playing this on my PS4 Pro, I have not played since the last update though, is there issues with the new update?
So, after a while without playing, I installed the game again and updated it to 1.24. The game I installed on the External HD and playing 10 minutes locked everything and turned off the PS4 PRO, without any error message, nothing. This morning I moved the game from External HD to Internal, but I have not played again yet, I'll try tonight, if I make that mistake I'll uninstall, unfortunately. This error happened some time ago with my old PS4, but then it did not happen anymore, I hope it's the same situation.
Elvis Seibt Hmm, sounds very strange, I don't see how the game could cause the issue, surely that's the new console firmware? I don't use external hard drives though as I put a SSHD into my Pro

Jose Morales well it does change during fighting, being chased by sentinels and occasionally while arriving at a new planet. But I agree, not too much...

Yeah, I've heard a couple new songs since the update but it I thought it would play music continuously throughout the game. Not just when you arrive at a Atlas station or fighting a sentinel.
It plays music even when you are doing nothing, it just doesn't play music 100% of the time. That would sound kinda dumb.

A player is the Biggest critic a game could ever have....fix the game by delivering what was promised and lied about THATS what players wanna hear is goin on with no mans sky maybe actually give us a player model instead of a floating camera with footsteps.
