The Old World's main release has come and gone and with the new edition of Warhammer Fantasy now in full swing, i decided to take a look at how we can quickly and efficiently make some bases for our new old Tomb Kings and Bretonnians.

MillenniuM shirt invites the question: Season 1 or Season 2?
Season 1. Definitely went harder. 2 got off track, and season 3 couldn't pull up fast enough to avoid the crash. At least xfiles gave a wrap up episode.
S2 had Jose chung and "somehow Satan" which are all time great eps for me
Season 2 got Jose Chung, Somehow Satan and Curse of Frank Black which are all incredible, Christmas special was also great. However Season 1 is such a rock solid consistency. Gotta be season 1.
Lance is such an awesome guy in person too. A shame they didn’t get a proper wrap up.
Watching that chunk fly off then hearing you say “okay guess we’re gonna put some grass tufts on then” 😂 made me feel a lot better about all the times I break sh*t on my models on accident ❤
It’s just so nice to see square bases. Makes me all misty and nostalgic.
It’s my first time doing them properly! Definitely a bit of a head scrambler
Some pro tips for anyone doing those tomb king bases:
While the filler is drying you can place your minis in it to create footprints - and create the spot where the mini will stand which adds some believable weight to your minis, and helps with glueing.
The filler reactivates with water, this is great for sculpting, cleanup, and adding more details later - but you do need to prime it before going in with paint! Adding water to your tools, or the feet of minis, is handy for sculpting.

Damnit Tony!!! I was painting fine details when Tony started up with the stutters and mistakes.... laughed my way into repainting a good portion of my fig! Good stuff, love it!
Dang, that sand dune chariot base alone makes me want to start a Tomb King army.

Simple but effective! I really love the way you did the sand dunes. They're very pretty on their own and really bring the tomb kings to, uh, unlife!

Looks great! As I've been getting into Warcry, basing vids like this are quite useful as the skirmish games are a good way to play with different basing terrain.

Well done on the skeleton archers bow string, I've gotten into using fly tying wire. to me it's easier to handle than string or fishing line and it can be colored.
Useful for the forthcoming Silver Bayonet : Egypt supplement too. Cheers.

That chariot base is awesome! I don't need dessert bases but may need to find a reason for some. OR try a similar style on snow bases.

Lovely stuff. Very effective in the final shots. Got me thinking re my pointy eared boys and their upcoming re homing on inch square bases. I phwoared at the mini natur stuff. Fuck me I need to get out a bit more.

Square bases seem to offer a little more space for basing than round bases, too. And when ranked up should look even more impressive.

Where’s that tall shrub from on the peasant base? It’s hard to find tall tufts and it looks super dope!
I think it’s like a foliage bush thing from woodland scenics. It’s not the fine leaf foliage or anything like that, but it’s similar! All I can currently remember bud!

Hey Dave! Love the idea, but do you have any tips for making those sand bases so that the wheels from the chariots makes tracks behind them? When you just stick them on it looks like the chariot is hovering on top of the sand.
I’m torn about basing Tomb kings with desert or just make it same as all the others, I think they will look a bit wierd during gameplay if they are all differently based

Honestly can’t remember. They’re easy to find on my mini factory though.
Do you find that your minis come off the bases often with super glue? This is the main hurdle for me getting creative with bases because they become to flimsy on the attachment to the base. Maybe I'm using bad glue?
Yeah sometimes. Depends how big the point of contact is. I don’t use accelerator on it as that can often be a weak bond. Usually no problems though!
being the absolute nuthead I am I also use filler for the bases... mixed with cheap acryls and PVA glue (that adds durability in my experience)

Nice basing! I panned the old world for a number of reasons. The chief one is I was getting started in Warhammer with both of those factions when they nuked the setting and game. I cannot stress how beyond p*ssed that made me. I quit GW games after that. The second reason is the prices in the part of the world I am in are nothing short of extortion levels for old models. Just not worth it in my opinion. You also have to worry about how long before GW cans this game and screws the people who bought miniatures for it? Anyway enough rambling great basing ideas.

GW killed any momentum they could have got with this game as you can't buy the rules. I don't understand how you can release a game and not have the rules available to buy. Rant over, cool bases.
