Mermaid tails come in a lot of different colors and patternd and with extra fins and things, but I have yet to see a really different one that moves more like a fish or shark, or winged ones like rays and skates, or ballooning ones for jellyfish or octopi or squid
The zipper feature is new to me. I got the very first run of eco tail (blue/black) coloration. Ended up sewing sequins onto the bottom and sides of the fins because the fabric was not a thick as I hear he is making them now. But due to exceptionally bad customer service from him I will not be buying a tail from him ever again. Had to deal with a neoprene (not neoprin) backed tail that had so many issues with it I hated trying to mermaid with it. So I while I'm very glad your happy with the product and I think the idea of a whale shark tail is cool, I'll not be getting one from him.
so Raina...question for you...i have only seen your 32 hacks video and then this one, but i noticed you referred to a diff company for your mermaid tails in the hacks vid and i see this is from mertailor...i know mertailor is relatively new and how i found out getting awesome silicone tails was even an option..so just curious..in your opinion...which is better? to me it seems the mertailor tails seem more realistic looking overall...but i don't really have any in person reference...
im not entirely sure what you're referencing. this is a fabric tail i bought from mertailor to test out. it's my first time buying a fabric tail from him and I havent had a chance yet to swim in it. my silicone realistic mermaid tails are all made by Merbellas. My company uses exclusively merbellas for our silicone tails. it's really up to you what you can afford. I suggest looking at reviews and all the companies out there. there's a website: www.merfolktails.info that has all the tail makers listed
I just tried my new tail on Saturday. Question if you are resting on the stairs of the pool how do you get off the stairs without scuffing up the bottom of the tail or almost bending the monofin?
This is what you do. You can make you body go behind the stairs and stand up then you can position your arms to go forward but also this can make you slow. You can make your body turn around in the stairs where your tail is in the air and the rest is under water bend your legs and push off of one of the stairs since the back of your feet doesn't have something extra.this can make you go in a back motion where you put your arms relaxed and your legs can do the work but be careful turn around when you push off so you can see your surroundings
I put the tail on while sitting on the edge of a deeper area (preferably at least 5 feet) and then slide myself in because fabric tails do scrape a lot (especially at the pool in my neighborhood- it's really rough) without using stairs (if you've never swam in a tail before you might want to use stairs or have someone close by if you use my method since it's deeper and you're just plopping right in)
Ana Mia thanks I am new to using a mermaid tail but I am a competitive swimmer and that's how I already know how to do the kick it just that in my pool it's hard to get in because I kind of have to push off with my tail to get off the wall once I enter the pool

I have all 6 basic Eco tails and my sister has one. The first one I got didn't have a zipper, but then I bought the other 5 at once and the all had zippers. Then I bought my sister one a couple of months later and hers had no zipper. I think some have zippers and some don't and they probably still have old ones without zippers so they have to give people those sometimes

I'm not sure. this one has a zipper, I haven't tried the other ones. You should check out mertailor's website, or ask him on facebook :)
