Hi friends! A quick reminder not to post spoilers for "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes". The book isn't out in many countries yet, and won't be for another few weeks, so it's incredibly inconsiderate. Also, many of you have been asking when I'll make videos about it. I won't be making videos about it until the movie adaptation is released, as this firstly gives everyone time to buy and read the book, and secondly will allow us to use the secondary canon that is a movie to base ideas off of. The capitol citizens probably would still have a lavish lifestyle but they'd share there pleasures like their food, cloths and the barfing drink with the poorer districts like districts 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 while districts 1, 2, 4 and possibly 13 would also share wealth. I often wonder if any of the districts demanded independence or secession from greater Panem. I think that would make for an interesting novel or short story. If Collins released it, I'd read it.
I like to think that before Panem was formed the districts used to be their own nations, they were later conquered by the Capitol and made into Panem. Panem is an empire. The districts are mere colonies for the capitol to extract resources so they can live a lavish lifestyle. This is identical to how colonial empires work in our world. The mother country (The Capitol) annexes territories where the native inhabitants work to provide resources for the wealth and oppulance of the mother country (the districts and their principal industries). The capitol owns the means of production and relegates the economy of each district around one thing. This is exactly what Colonial Empires do.
Whilst I can see some secessionist movements forming, I doubt they'd be successful. Snow and Capitol made sure that none of the districts could be self sufficient, and they needed each other to survive. For the first few years, the new president would work to unite Panem, incentivising travel, having elections for some sort of Parliament, and making the citizens feel like they're part of Panem, rather than just from each of their individual districts.

My absolute favorite quote from the book is: there are still moments where I wake up screaming from nightmares of lost children and Mutts and he still clutches a chair in the dining room and refuses to let go but eventually his arms are there and eventually his lips and after when he asks you love me real or not real I say real it’s a excellent quote showing no matter what they went through they still have a chance of happiness

I think the Capitol citizen would have resisted any change. They seen to see themselves as different and better than all the people from the Districts. Like a giant Royal Family. Capitol citizens don't even see the children of the Districts as real human beings. I could see the fence to the woods being taken down in District 12 and the land being used for farming so more people could return there. There could be roads between the districts and all could trade with each other rather than just supply the Capitol. And I know there are supposed to be wild animals in the woods outside district 12, but that's true about lots of places in the world today. Eventually the Districts would become like the United States, as they started helping each other and trading and maybe teaching each other new schools, things would become more equal. All the kids would get a proper education. Schools would teach about all the other Districts. Movement would be free so people could move and settle in other places. It would take a lot of years but eventually they could all heal and move on. There could even be sporting events like a version of the Olympics televised for everyone, but obviously no killings.
Making the Capitol feel like they are United with the rest of Panem would be very important, but I'm sure the rebels would make sure it's one of their priorities. Even something as simple as keeping Caesar Flickerman on TV would make the Capitol feel like life is normal.
They just went through a traumatic war. You'll be surprised what it's like and what it'll make people do. After they lost their loved ones in the invasion of the capitol, it would make sense for them to support change.
This is related to the point that the districts may have been opened instead of keeping them separate. I think Katniss was banished to district twelve, for killing Coin. I don't think Paylor had made it as a punishment but some of the rebels would still be angry with her because they would be thirsty for payback on the Capitol. I think Paylor was protecting Katniss. I also think she lost connection with Johanna, since she promised to kill Snow for her. So this would mean, the only real connections she would have is with Peeta, Haymitch, Her mother, Greasy Sae, Annie, and maybe Delly or perhaps even Gale.
Naturally I think that I'd be more drawn towards one of the more intelligent districts, those that handle the technology. So either D3, D5 or D6. I also grew up on a farm to it'd be nice to live in D10 or D11.
I really wish we knew more about Cressida and why she defected from the capitol to join the rebellion. I understand Castor and Pollux, but did she just have an eye for cruelty? I just wish we got to learn a little more about her
I love this channel so much, the Hunger Games series are some of my all time favorite books and I am always so excited for your videos to come out. Edit: I've reread the books a lot and I'm literally begging my friends to read them.
I wonder if in Paylor's governing would the districts learn about American History: The Great Nation before Panem. (I doubt they'll have any evidence/fossils for the info but the possibility sounds awesome) Digging up the past!
@@StoryDiver if They do that it could work as a spinoff novel focusing on Paylor as the main protagonist restoring civilization back to what it used to be before the Apocalypse
What got me, and I'm referring to the books, how quickly they just threw the symbol and rallying cry for the rebellion to the side is crazy. Basically just go home and stay out of sight and out of mind, is not realistic. A tremendous amount of the country would want to know what going on with her and what she thinks of the direction of society.
Hey I have an idea for a video. What if commander Paylor died in 8 before the march to the presidents house. Who would be president at the end? Would the story still play out? Idk if it’s a good idea but it’s something I’ve been thinking about! Thanks! I love your videos!
I love your videos! You dig into the story in such a detailed way yet present it so simply that anyone could understand it and follow the plot even if they hadn't read the books or watched the movies. Keep up the great work, I love this channel!!
I think I have a good idea for a video: What if commander Thread had shot Katniss in catching fire, when she steps in to protect Gale from getting whipped? If Haymich & Peeta would have shown up even a couple seconds too late, Thread most likely would have shot Katniss. What would this mean for the events that take place as the series progresses? I was just rewatching catching fire and was curious about how this would change the rebels’ plans for the rebellion 🤔
A part of me would like to see a movie about this, more so about when they put the Capitols children in a games. It would be very different and interesting to see how the capitol people would act, how the tributes would act and how the districts would react. Personally I think that the Capitols children that are chosen would be mixed, some would be willing to give it a try but most would be terrified and refuse to fight. I think some districts would be happy with this idea but many people, mostly the families of any fallen tributes would be against it.
5:52 why would panem want or need nukes if they're the only land mass, it sounds to me that panem is an isolationist society like north Korea or early japan. They could be isolationist becuase other societys could be concerned about the lack of human rights there or that the other society's are even worse than the capitol so they want nothing to do with them
Could you do a video on explaining what the games did to the tributes afterwards? You put the videos together so well and it's easier having things explained in one video than reading the book series 5 times to understand a minor detail. Also great video. 👌
Just imagine if Kattnis didn’t volunteer for prim the hunger games would most likely keep going on snow would be president and the rebellion wouldn’t have started also congrats on 4K! A few days ago I saw your channel and you had 3k now you have 4K! :3
I want to see your lipstick collection! I love the creativity you use! You’re like the only person that could pull off blue, green, purple lipstick! Love you!
I feel like it will be easy for the capitol citizens to adapt because Effie trinket was able to adapt to the life of a district 13 citizen which would be way more strict than the new panem
I wonder what would happen to Snow's granddaughter. As Coin probably would've executed her, as she clearly doesn't care if children die if she killed Prim, what would Paylor do?
Great video you are so amazing and you have some great evidence for your theory’s/ideas about this stuff. I only started watching your videos like 3 days ago but I have already watched so many
Idea: What if during one year of the Hunger Games, there was no victor? Like, the last two tributes died at the same time or something. I don't know if you have done this already though.
Could you do a video about what would happen if multiple people volunteer as tribute? Or what if someone volunteers as tribute but the tribute wants to go in the games? Something like this could possibly happen with the career districts....
Thank you! I’m personally a trauma survivor, so I do my best to talk openly but respectful about it to help others understand or heal depending on their past 💛
Cool lipstick color, you look like a Capitol Citizen in a good way. Great essay, I always wonder how all Panem would adjust to a Huge change and your theory just makes sense. Thanks...keep up the awesome work!
The Citizens of Panem's Capital would take an active role in helping in various ways. Helping to create a strong and diverse infrastructure that would balance sustainability and timelessness. District 4 would be a bit of a challenge though being a coastal area open to the Pacific Ocean the architecture needs to be durable to certain conditions mainly storms, rain and fog.
To me it depends on the individual capital citizens mentality such as if it would be a stylist or escort for a tribute who would get to know the tribute a little better with the change but if it's someone who where hands on with the tributes maybe not that easy with the change
I think the Capital citizens will find it hard that from this point forward they'll have to actually work hard instead of having everything handed to them, I also think other countries do exist but communicating with them wont be easy, Plutarch mentions that due to atmospheric conditions high flying jets and military satillites no longer exist, assuming this means that Solar radiation extends deeper into the atmosphere this would make travel to other continents difficult planes fly high to my knowledge to avoid turbulence, people often say if there are other countries why would they allow the hunger games to happen? heres my opinion, not only does Panem have Nukes but what if every other country is a dictatorship too?
Yes they would, and the child / family would be severely punished. Remember that the Capitol tracks all the kids who show up at the reaping, and if you don't show peacekeepers track you down. The only reason you would be allowed to skip the reaping is if you were on death's door
I don’t think he did, instead he chose to hang himself to disobey orders and defy authority one last time, that’s why Katniss made the recreation of Crane hanging in Catching Fire
Do you think that they will ever do a film or book occurring around the 2nd quarter quell because that would be a very good idea on how haymitch became who he is and more backstory on the games.
Story Diver same here but it would be interesting on how the 4 children from each district how it happened and like how haymitch and maysilee became good friends and the stuff after the games with haymitch’s family dying
@@GreenAxo_ i like how you’re like “this outcome might be possible” but once she doubts it you’re like “yeah i was thinking the same thing all along” kiss ass...
maybe this is a dumb question, but i’ve always wondered, what if one of the tributes were physically disabled (maybe in a wheelchair) they wouldn’t really be fit to fight and would probably die right away. there wouldn’t really be a point in training them... what would the capitol do? would they keep them as a tribute or choose someone else??
They would be the tribute unless someone volunteered for them. I have a video all about the exceptions to the reaping that covers this in more detail 😉
I think this is a very good theory. I think that Commander Paylor will make it seem like a normal country again. I think she will also make a very good President! Great video ❤
I'm glad that Hunger Games portrays both extremes of the political spectrum as equally despicable. This story did not fall into the "The Left is the final solution to the fascist dictatorship problem" trap.
I think it's so fun how the leader of District 8 comes to become the new president of Panem, especially when you consider the poorest part of District 12 is called the Seam. It sounds like im connecting dots that aren't there, but like, think about it.
I Would Be On Paylors Side Because Of Alma Making The Nation Look Bad Will Be Like That But For Paylor As She Is Making The Whole Nation Look Very Better And Normal Is Great 👍 Many Of The Refugees Of The Capitol And Even Panems Victims Can Even Be Together And They Can Cross To Any District And Be Together That Will Be A Very Good Headcanon And Very Great Idea. Who knows, maybe they abolished the districts, and assumed that there were other countries (which would surprise me if there weren't). They reunited and formed something similar to the UN. It's just a theory
I feel like even though some of the capital citizens would hold on to their prejudices towards the district citizens, many of them would accept the citizens once they found out the truth of how things really were. And many of them would begin to show the district citizens the luxuries of the capital. Possibly

@@StoryDiver I came across something similar to this on WMG on TV tropes for the hunger games here it is. Panem is Earth-That-Was from Firefly(here’s what it says) Everything about the society seems to reflect very similarly to how societies function in Firefly, with a decadent, aloof Core system (the capitol) and a bunch of outlying Rim planets (the Districts). Panem is what’s left of Earth after the starships left to go somewhere else, thinking Earth was Wholly used up and Panem is comprised of who remained afterward. .The reason for traveling to other systems in Firefly was (amongst others) that Earth became too crowded; in The Hunger Games, there are few humans left and extinction is used as an argument for a ceasefire. (if this is true that basically means that The Hunger Games and Firefly take place in the same universe)

Very true!
I really think that her mother got remarried and she is happy in the victors village
Question: If you had to live in one of the districts before the rebellion, which one would it be?
District 4, as I love swimming / the water etc! What about you?
probably D3 i'm already pretty smart so I think I would do really good there
11 IDK why I just do
Naturally I think that I'd be more drawn towards one of the more intelligent districts, those that handle the technology. So either D3, D5 or D6. I also grew up on a farm to it'd be nice to live in D10 or D11.
I’d say District 7 because the woods.
I really wish we knew more about Cressida and why she defected from the capitol to join the rebellion. I understand Castor and Pollux, but did she just have an eye for cruelty? I just wish we got to learn a little more about her
It would have been nice to learn more about her!
I love this channel so much, the Hunger Games series are some of my all time favorite books and I am always so excited for your videos to come out.
Edit: I've reread the books a lot and I'm literally begging my friends to read them.
I'm glad you like it!
Same
me to
I forced one of my friends to start reading it hunger games are better than alot
I wonder if in Paylor's governing would the districts learn about American History: The Great Nation before Panem. (I doubt they'll have any evidence/fossils for the info but the possibility sounds awesome) Digging up the past!
It's very possible!
america is defiantly not great
@@StoryDiver if They do that it could work as a spinoff novel focusing on Paylor as the main protagonist restoring civilization back to what it used to be before the Apocalypse
@@lunas_gamingworld9422and you are definitely wrong
I watched one video of yours and now I can't stop!
I just love how you explain it all. Trust me thats a talent❤️🏹
Thank you so much!
Very true!
That's the problem I have with her books always the endings seem so rush
Hey I have an idea for a video.
What if commander Paylor died in 8 before the march to the presidents house. Who would be president at the end? Would the story still play out?
Idk if it’s a good idea but it’s something I’ve been thinking about! Thanks! I love your videos!
I’ll look into it!
I love your videos! You dig into the story in such a detailed way yet present it so simply that anyone could understand it and follow the plot even if they hadn't read the books or watched the movies. Keep up the great work, I love this channel!!
I was binge watching your vids when my notification came through 🤗
An extra video to binge watch! Enjoy!!

Always love these hunger games videos!! Thanks for making them
Thank you!
This channel is amazing! I enjoy your videos, thank you for filming them. Stay safe! 🙌🏻
Thank you!
More hate to the Capitol from the Districts I guess. And the star-crossed-lovers supporters probably want Thread dead.
The rebellion would have happened a little earlier, and Snow would have executed the commander for making Katniss a martyr.
@@amitkenan3878 That makes sense!
I love your videos they always get me thinking!
Thank you!
You are slaying that eyeshadow and lipstick color~!
Looking straight from the capitol.
Also nice video, keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Great video, loved it keep up the good work. You so deserve 1million subs
I truly love your channel and how you keep the books alive years later. ❤️
Thank you so much!
Always love your videos
Thank you!
Love the videos THANKS AND IM EARLY!!
Thank you!
They could be isolationist becuase other societys could be concerned about the lack of human rights there or that the other society's are even worse than the capitol so they want nothing to do with them
i needed a break from all the toxic youtubers so i began staning this queen :)))))
Thank you for your support!
Crazy considering that I watched Mockingjay part 2 with my sister and I told her that Prim dies she was shocked
I love how you always reply to your fans
Me too!
Thank you!
Would Caesar flickerman still be alive or would he be executed
Absolutely love these videos and your channel- literally living my dream 💖💖
Thank you!
Could you do a video on explaining what the games did to the tributes afterwards?
You put the videos together so well and it's easier having things explained in one video than reading the book series 5 times to understand a minor detail.
Also great video. 👌
By “what the games did”, do you mean the trauma / PTSD the victors suffered?
@@StoryDiver Yes that. It would be easier to understand if its been explained.
Just imagine if Kattnis didn’t volunteer for prim the hunger games would most likely keep going on snow would be president and the rebellion wouldn’t have started also congrats on 4K! A few days ago I saw your channel and you had 3k now you have 4K! :3
Thank you!
Wooo more hunger games ! Love this videos Jess !💗💗
Thank you!
I want to see your lipstick collection! I love the creativity you use! You’re like the only person that could pull off blue, green, purple lipstick!
Love you!
Thank you! Anyone can pull off fun lipsticks 😉
I feel like it will be easy for the capitol citizens to adapt because Effie trinket was able to adapt to the life of a district 13 citizen which would be way more strict than the new panem
It’s possible!
the lipstick is panem coded
I wonder what would happen to Snow's granddaughter. As Coin probably would've executed her, as she clearly doesn't care if children die if she killed Prim, what would Paylor do?
Paylor would probably leave her alone, as she can’t be blamed for her grandfather’s actions
Story diver true you can't be judged because of someone else and in the m9vies he is shown to be very respectful to his family
Great video you are so amazing and you have some great evidence for your theory’s/ideas about this stuff. I only started watching your videos like 3 days ago but I have already watched so many
Thank you!
what do you think is going to happen on the latest book of the hunger games ?
I have multiple videos about the latest book where I state what I think may happen based on the information i had at the time
Idea: What if during one year of the Hunger Games, there was no victor?
Like, the last two tributes died at the same time or something.
I don't know if you have done this already though.
I have a video about this coming soon 😉
@@StoryDiver Cool! Can't wait to see it!
omg thanks! I've always wanted to know this!
Cant believe im so early 💕 love your vids btw
Thank you!
Could you do a video about what would happen if multiple people volunteer as tribute? Or what if someone volunteers as tribute but the tribute wants to go in the games? Something like this could possibly happen with the career districts....
I have a video called "Volunteering explained" where I cover different volunteering options!
this channel is so well thought out and you cover topics like trauma with such respect and understanding, thank you
Thank you! I’m personally a trauma survivor, so I do my best to talk openly but respectful about it to help others understand or heal depending on their past 💛
Love the video! Keep up the good work.🙂
Thank you!
I know this is 4 years later, but will you be discussing the upcoming "Sunrise on the Reaping"?
Hey do you think you can look into Boggs for character spotlight I really liked him.
I cover Boggs in the Squad 451 Character Spotlight!
Cool lipstick color, you look like a Capitol Citizen in a good way. Great essay, I always wonder how all Panem would adjust to a Huge change and your theory just makes sense. Thanks...keep up the awesome work!
Love it, I was wondering how would it be like after the movies
Thank you!
Actually, Snow did get a trial in the books. If he did, his inner-circle is likely to have received one as well
What would happen if someone didn't enter the tube that takes them into the arena?
They wouldn’t be given the option. If they aren’t in the tube by the allotted time peacekeepers would force them in
@@StoryDiver Thank you :)
That makes sense!
I think the Capital citizens will find it hard that from this point forward they'll have to actually work hard instead of having everything handed to them, I also think other countries do exist but communicating with them wont be easy, Plutarch mentions that due to atmospheric conditions high flying jets and military satillites no longer exist, assuming this means that Solar radiation extends deeper into the atmosphere this would make travel to other continents difficult planes fly high to my knowledge to avoid turbulence, people often say if there are other countries why would they allow the hunger games to happen? heres my opinion, not only does Panem have Nukes but what if every other country is a dictatorship too?
i keep thinking this but what would happen if a child e.g prim refused to actually go to the reaping would the capitol find out?
Yes they would, and the child / family would be severely punished. Remember that the Capitol tracks all the kids who show up at the reaping, and if you don't show peacekeepers track you down. The only reason you would be allowed to skip the reaping is if you were on death's door
You may think i am dumb but why did seneca crane eat nigtlock berries?
I don’t think he did, instead he chose to hang himself to disobey orders and defy authority one last time, that’s why Katniss made the recreation of Crane hanging in Catching Fire
It’s understood that Seneca hanged himself, dying on his own terms instead of Snow’s
@@StoryDiver Okay. Thanks for clearing it up for me!
@@StoryDiver I didn't think about that but hanging himself was kind of like a small bit of rebel because he refused to do what he was meant to do
Do you think that they will ever do a film or book occurring around the 2nd quarter quell because that would be a very good idea on how haymitch became who he is and more backstory on the games.
I personally doubt it
Story Diver same here but it would be interesting on how the 4 children from each district how it happened and like how haymitch and maysilee became good friends and the stuff after the games with haymitch’s family dying
@@GreenAxo_ i like how you’re like “this outcome might be possible” but once she doubts it you’re like “yeah i was thinking the same thing all along” kiss ass...
Man I went through huge trauma a few years ago
I just realized im non existent in the hunger games universe
maybe this is a dumb question, but i’ve always wondered, what if one of the tributes were physically disabled (maybe in a wheelchair) they wouldn’t really be fit to fight and would probably die right away. there wouldn’t really be a point in training them... what would the capitol do? would they keep them as a tribute or choose someone else??
They would be the tribute unless someone volunteered for them. I have a video all about the exceptions to the reaping that covers this in more detail 😉
I think the boy from district 10 in the 74th games was crippled and he still had to compete.
Great video!! Love this channel
Thank you!
Can you do a video similar to character spotlight but with career tributes? I think that would be cool to get a perspective of their emotions.
I have covered most of the career tributes!
I think this is a very good theory. I think that Commander Paylor will make it seem like a normal country again. I think she will also make a very good President!
Great video ❤
Thank you!
I love this channel, it is so interesting and enjoyable! :)
Thank you!
I imagine that they'll try to discover any surviving land mass from the cataclysmic flood
As usual... you’re lipstick is 🔥🔥🔥
yesss i always love her lipstick
Thank you!
Ok, I have another question...
Why is district 3 not a career district??
Just curious .-.
It’s not fully explained in the main trilogy, though the excerpt from the new book does give us some insight 😉
Gacha Flame it’s not a career district because it didn’t help the capitol win the war in the rebellion like 1,2, and 4.
I'm glad that Hunger Games portrays both extremes of the political spectrum as equally despicable. This story did not fall into the "The Left is the final solution to the fascist dictatorship problem" trap.
you make very interesting videos best regards from Austria💞
I think it's so fun how the leader of District 8 comes to become the new president of Panem, especially when you consider the poorest part of District 12 is called the Seam. It sounds like im connecting dots that aren't there, but like, think about it.
Omg if Effie was the President... she’d be like ok this is the mandatory outfits
Thanks Story Diver For Making This! 😊 I Really Appreciate This Video You Made
I was literally just wondering about this
it was amazing how she shot one arrow to execute 2 people. Great video! also you should maybe check Maze runner out. it is very interesting!
It is amazing! I never got into Maze Runner personally
Story Diver you should maybe try it out. you might end up loving it
@@StoryDiver Try reading it! I started reading it before bed and I couldn't sleep at night its so good. (Don't read it out loud in front of your child.)
Story Diver I tried to start reading Maze Runner three times and never really got to it, but one day I forced myself to read past the ONE part which I could never get past and I ended up unable to put the books down from that part on.
Please do what happened to Snow's pretty granddaughter! I think I am her in a sense because
1. I wear my hair in a Katniss-style braid and MJ pin
2. I have a (nice!) grandfather that looks just like him, (he unfortunately went to elsewhere)
3. I play with an Arena my best friends and I made that looks to be a coal mine like District 12
4. I live in Appalachia, Virginia and she likes District 12
I'll look into it!
at first I read that as 'i have a grand father that's just like him' and got really scared for you.
Yes but he was nice to us
Who knows, maybe they abolished the districts, and assumed that there were other countries (which would surprise me if there weren't). They reunited and formed something similar to the UN.
It's just a theory
There wouldn't be any institutions to prop that up in the post-apocalyptic era that panem is a part of
I feel like even though some of the capital citizens would hold on to their prejudices towards the district citizens, many of them would accept the citizens once they found out the truth of how things really were. And many of them would begin to show the district citizens the luxuries of the capital. Possibly
What do you guys think would happen to the Avoxes in the New Panem?
I’d say they’d get their vocal chords repaired and speech therapy, if they want it.
00:01 Panem under new leadership of President Paylor
01:11 Opening borders between districts for healing and freedom.
01:56 Rehabilitation needed post-rebellion
02:55 Survivors in Panem show signs of healing and moving forward
03:44 Panem government supports trauma survivors with help from victors
04:39 Post-rebellion Panem struggles with power dynamics
05:27 Panem settles into peaceful nation under President Paylor
06:16 Potential changes in Panem after the rebellion
Crafted by Merlin AI.
If I were from a career district, I would fear that she would punish us. But I don't think she would. She would definately need more peacekeepers to ensure safety to all. The capitol people would feel a little miffef.
That makes sense!
Idea:what if a victor died before they got picked up from the capitol after winning
I have a vide about this coming soon 😉
Also, depending on how far into the future The Hunger Games is set, there may be colonies off planet.
True
It’s possible!
@@StoryDiver I came across something similar to this on WMG on TV tropes for the hunger games here it is.
Panem is Earth-That-Was from Firefly(here’s what it says)
Everything about the society seems to reflect very similarly to how societies function in Firefly, with a decadent, aloof Core system (the capitol) and a bunch of outlying Rim planets (the Districts).
