I was very young w Larry and Magic years. Jordan was my prime young years. And just like seeing Tyson from front to end, in MY time, not on a film, it made all the difference because you sat at the edge and anticipated. Kobe came at a time when I was older, busier with other things in life. While in my time, he wasn't in my focus, as I'd let a lot of sport give way to work and life and such. I do appreciate now, especially and sadly, after the loss, what he represented and meant to those who saw him in their younger time, when fandom is forged and locked in. I also appreciate Shaq thanking West for making it happen. "My" era was bookended with Larry and Magic early and Kobe/Shaq later. We are too damned short lived and too long gone to not appreciate the moments we get. I still gotta work on that on the daily and fail but... warmed my heart to see the first statue that honors his passion and life.
This what makes Charles great on the show, he stay quiet and let Shaq talk without throwing in jokes or puns. There are many endless opportunities to make fun of Shaq, but this isn't one of those times. Either that or he just ate 2 boxes of Krispy Kreme and was too bloated to talk.

@@J23LA24and sold most of Kobes shorts from high school and stuff like that
@@alfioplays7443 yeah, it was a lot more than that. That was just the worst part, in my opinion.
There’s a reason why people aren’t mentioning his parents. They haven’t been at any of the events.
I feel you big diesel losing Kobe was one of the worst days of my life things won't ever be the same we all got to stay together as a big strong NBA family to get past this if we ever do😔
Great job taking a moment to speak on Jerry West. Afterall he was the GM at the time and made the acquisition happen. Jeanie Buss never mentioned West when she spoke. He was in attendance but for some reason wasn't invited to speak on stage.
Who else gets a lump in there throught and watery eyes when you see something beautiful about Kobe❤
Life's not fair. Kobe, you are missed!
Everything happens for a reason. It was his time. His playing with hid Gigi rn ❤ God got us.
Kobe is my goat... best I've seen in my 49 years. Luv the career and his story. Skills spoke for themselves 💜💛Mamba fan outage🫡 Hope to witness your Spirit again sir,,, shout out to Shaq for the shine
Mamba Forever 💜
I get so emotional when Shaq talk about Kobe. I'm near my mid 40s and met with Shaq and Kobe for a brief moment over 20 years ago, they were extremely competitive but also extremely complimentary. Dang, I miss Kobe.
Shaq is just a bear❤
He is not lmao playing days my guy was a GORILLA fr
Wow How could they Leave Jerry West out of Mix...Without Him None of this Happens..Props to #34 Shaq for Giving Jerry West & Kobe's Family The Acknowledgements that they Deserve...R.I.P. 2.8.24 🕊Gigi Kobe..& All on that Day...
Yes, Jerry West, the NBA logo.
Don't you remember a few yr's ago JEANNIE BUSS said she did not consider MR. WEST one of the 5 all time lakers ? That is why he was in the AUDIENCE !
Still can’t believe that he’s gone man …. Even harder to believe he went out the way he did R.I.P Kobe, GG and everyone else that passed away in that crash
There will only be a mamba day once every century 😢
No there only one and that’s Kobe
Isn't 8-24 the real mamba day?
@@LePuffyRamonCombsThe1stthat’s what I’ve been wondering! Makes more sense
8/24 every August
I love the fact it has the finger pointing up like that, that's a perfect summation of Kobe's attitude. I look forward to seeing this when I get to LA
God bless Jerry West for putting this unstoppable duo together, respect 💯
2/8/24…what a beautiful way and day to pay homage. Also much respect to all that were lost and loved ones that were affected because of this tragedy!!! RIP to ALL!!!
I have NEVER been a Lakers fan, but I'm forever gonna be a Kobe fan!❤️🤘💯💪😎
Jerry West brought Kobe in.. 🙂that was his true vision for the lakers!😌 "Kobe Forever"💜💜💜💜💜
I cried when he passed huge Kobe fan and Lakers fan he deserves it hall of fame hands down rih with your daughter may God rest their souls
Every morning, I look at the picture of Kobe that is on my wall. This picture says, "It's a constant quest to try to be better today than you were yesterday and better tomorrow than you were the day before." Those words carry me through the day as I work and effect how I treat people. They have served me pretty good!
Shaq and Kobe best nba duo
I have to admit that I wasnt a big Kobe guy when he played. Afterwards, once the dust settled and I was able to really look at what he did, man, the guy deserves his basketball status as an absolute legend. Hearing Shaq talk about him, and he only seems to have a soft spot for Mamba, really reminds you that we might be watching sports but these guys are living it. Bonds are forged that become truly apparent when you hear O'neal speak.
That Kobe doc is going to be something else.
when does it come out?
@@robgronkowski947 no release yet. In 2016 a camera crew followed Kobe throughout his last season with the intention of making a The Last Dance type of documentary.
Kobe's legacy will forever be remembered and cherished. May he continue to inspire generations to come.
Salute Lakers for statue! Cool of Shaq for sharing story on playing with Kobe! The 2 Best Lakers IMO
I’ve been a lakers fan since I was a kid and knowing one of the greatest lakers player is gone is just sad af tbh. Rip Kobe Bean Bryant and Gianna Bryant
Happy Kobe day everyone rip Kobe✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
About time West got the respect he damn well deserved.
Im glad Shaq mentioned Kobe's parents and sisters
That's one of those days I'll never forget when I heard about Kobe Bryant's death. It hurt even more when I saw that his beautiful
daughter GiGi and the other passengers had also lost their lives. I shed some tears but still have a lifetime of great Kobe memories.
He was the next best player to remind you of MJ. This statue is a well-deserved part of his legacy.
I LOVE YOU, SHAQ / U STAYED 💯
These are some beautiful words Shaq. Continue to rest peacefully Kobe & Gigi 🙏🏿💜💛💜💛💜💛🥹😭🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
THE GREATEST LAKER EVER!!! KOBE!!! I LOVE U BRO!!! MISS U!!!
Used to be a big NBA fan, just a casual observer these days. But this was great. Much respect for Shaq here. Humility. The respect he showed to Kobe, West, and others. Just a great moment.
"Shaq, tell us what you think"
"Me me me i i i me myself me myself me i i i..."
Yeah that’s what I was thinking too.
Completely.. so annoying
Kobe was such an impactful player I never saw him in person but when he passed away it was like losing a family member.
He had on a Jordan Jersey and I said Playa, “it’s time to take that jersey off and put your own on now.” Cuz I knew then that.. He was the man
- Shaq
As a Warriors fan, I love that Shaq gave Jerry West his flowers too. That man is a basketball savant, he not only made the Lakers dominant like they were in the 2000s, but he also helped turn my favorite team around. Kobe absolutely deserved this, and we all wish he was here to talk to you as well
Long live The Black Mamba ❤️
Damn Shaq that was mad love. Could tell they were like brothers. He said let me give these roses get in line with the interview shit. Fav duo in history
TNT should have gave him the Day Off to go to LA.
Shaq doesn't get "days off". He can do what he wants. He's very wealthy.
As an LA native, Shaq and Kobe are two of my heroes. Nobody could ever lip up to to legend of these two men.
it aint a speech unless Shaq gives himself flowers first lmao
Exactly! Bringing the subject back to himself always
Truth be told Kobe and shaq did make up and were cordial but they still were not super close and Shaq tries to say there was no beef when it clearly was
Yep. It took losing Kobe for Shaq to get past his own ego. He’s praising him now but he used to get big mad when people said he couldn’t have won 3 rings without Kobe 😂 Kobe was always cool with him but Shaq was the one with an attitude. As the saying goes “you don’t appreciate what you have until it’s gone”. Happens way too much.
He has big confidence issues. It would be good to solve them one day!
That 5th ring broke Shaq
Glad I watched this , I learned something new about Kobe.
R.I.P champ.
Happy Kobe Day everyone
Appreciate all of you ! You are what human beings should be ! You bring laughter , love ,an knowledge to all of us every NBA season . Mad respect for you all ! R.I.P Kobe ❤
I'm gonna walk from Chicago to LA to see it 💜👑
I'm so glad I grew up watching the Kobe/Shaq era one of the GOAT duos
RIP Kobe The 🐐
Thank u Shaq, happy to see Pam and joe Bryant be recognized

Kobe Bryant Was Alright But Sad 😭 He's Gone Also Shaquille O'Neal MY All Time Favorite NBA Player
Or both 😂
He was probably strongly holding a fart, focusing on that is a job in itself
🤣
I was thinking the same thing 🤣
