  • In today's video, Bruce and Sam are comparing 2 pedals from Victory Amps: 'V4 The Sheriff' VS 'V4 The Countess'!
    Welcome our new show "Board Or Bin" where we test pedals against one another, in order to get the ultimate guitar tone and build the Golden Pedal Board.
    Only one of these pedals will make it to our mighty Golden Board. The other one will go in the bin.

    Good video but sadly you can't get an idea of the pedal and what it really like without amp through mode (eg they only plugged into the front of the head and cab like a pedal rather then though the actual effects loop)

    Fun but completely missed the point on how these pedals are used to get the best result. Never mind.

    I thought they were preamps and not OD pedals

    Awesome sounds from both pedals. I love the Victory Sheriff amp, so I'd lean towards the Sheriff pedal.

    I have the "Jack" used to be the countess. With a tube screamer, this thing rocks!

    Mr Kidd himself said if you're using the Victory pedals as a stompbox, which you can, you're not using them to their fullest and actually intended design intent.

    correct me if I'm wrong but those are preamps not boost/dist pedals. They should be plugged directly into poweramp

  • @mickhaslam2985

    What do you recommend to do on a valve amp with master?
    1) leave master on full and use volume knob to control?
    Or
    2) have volume on full and use master knob to control?

    • @mickhaslam2985
      @mickhaslam2985 5 років тому

      Or put both volumes on full and control with guitar volume?

    • @SamBellGuitar
      @SamBellGuitar 5 років тому +1

      Hi Mick! Sorry for the delayed response! Thanks for your question . Using your volume control can really help you get a wide range of sounds and tones. If the master is cranked (which drives the power amp section and gives you more sustain) then when you're on full vol on the guitar you'll have some break up and crunch. Pulling back the volume on the guitar will clean things up. This is what a lot of guitar legends have been doing for years. Hope some of this makes sense! All the best!

      @@SamBellGuitar that is a help, I'll try your suggestion. I'm not a big exponent of changing guitar volume mid song, so I'm missing a lot of expression

    • @SamBellGuitar

      @@mickhaslam2985 Give it a go Mick! Get used to it by experimenting with volume swells into notes, bends and chords. Soon you'll find it quite natural. I'd definitely say its easier on strat style guitars.Having said that, what we're focusing on here is tone setting, so even if your volume knob lives a few post codes away on the guitar body, its still very feasible to get used to the geography of your guitar. Good luck and enjoy!

    Why didnt you run this in the effect's loop? All the sound is being colored by the Marshall tubes if you run in the front....So Im not sure what actually the pedals sound like.

    The Sheriff certainly has better articulation vs The Countess has that rounded overdriven sound. The Sheriff partnered with an overdrive or fuzz pedal would be a pretty awesome combo \m/ Great video guys, look forward to watching more. Cheers from The land of the convicts

    Oh dear. Lets choose the amp that old men, stuck in the past want to use. Fuck being modern, versatile or trying to do anything original. Phoning the ghost of a fossil was very apt.
    No wonder rock music is on it's arse with fewer and fewer young people wanting to get into it. We're still pandering to a sound 4 decades old.
    The bias is also obvious. You're using an old JCM 800, so it's not surprising you're going to favor the Victory pedal that is literally emulating the vintage Marshall sound.
    Bin this series. It could've been good, but you've rendered it pointless for anyone who want's create anything resembling a modern or original sound.
    You've just binned the pedal version of probably the most diverse player on the planet's amp. Let that sink in.

    Put them threw a basic little amp threw the clean chanel. They sound like crap. These other people on UA-cam record them with great gear it's a scam

      Put it in the effects loop. It replaces that amp’s preamp will make it sound so much better
