I’m in the middle of being p1ssed off and frustrated while fixing my vehicle as usual. I don’t know why “dance party under the steering column” had me laughing out loud but it did haha. Also, thanks for the tutorial!
I have a 2012 Nissan versa and I accidentally took the shelter shaft off and when I did that I moved the Sterling column. But the second shapes to align with wheels, not the stereo. How can I fix that without taking it to alignment
Hey Jimbo. This video saved me from so much trouble i made for myself. I just replaced a blower motor and pulled the steering column so that i could get to an unconventionally placed ac blower 😂 i put it back on but i think i moved the steering wheel while it was off so it came out crooked so - back to it
Thanks. recently replaced a clutch in my 2018 civic, this is why my steering wheel is off, I kept seeing videos messing with tie rod ends but I never adjusted those but I did indeed remove the steering column as shown here. Gonna try to fix it tomorrow. My only concern is getting that bolt off, it was so annoying threadlocker and all 🤣
Ahh gotcha yeah thread locker in that right space is no fun… hopefully it’s easier the second time! Good luck! Also… might need an alignment (or other new parts) too especially if it keeps pulling left or right after you make this adjustment… but hopefully this fixes it!
Hi! first of all thank you for the video, and I have a question, I got alignment but my steering wheel is about 2-3 degrees to the left... Should I use this method? or just move a bit the tie rods ?
The wonderful previous owner of my cl type s LEFT THE BOLTS OUT OF THE INTERMEDIATESHAFT! It a type s so I definitely drive it in a safe manner always and to think that at anytime I could have lost steering is horrifying. I accidentally bumped it while doing a code scan last night and it fell off and I have no idea where it was set too originally.
You will need to check your ball, joints and tie rods and everything else related to the suspension/front end. And then do an alignment. After you get all of that done and the alignment done, then this might help you.
Two options, one take it back to them, have them hold the steering wheel straight and redo the alignment, or two is to do what we did at this video and just adjust the steering wheel yourself
i try doin this its very akward position to reach so i gave up, i end it up messing the toe alingment to get my steering columm back to normal instead ,,your idea is genius though
I recently had to replace a part in my power steering motor (2009 Hyundai Elantra). Once I got everything back installed, my wheel in off kilter by about 45 degrees. Wheel alignment is fine. When you started this video, were the wheels 100% straight? Then once disconnect, you center the wheel, then reconnect? Appreciate the help!
Let me guess, the $1 power steering flex? The rubber part? Just did that on one of my Hyundai man. What a pain for a cheap part 😅 If this wasn’t what you replaced, I recommend buying it ahead of time lol
Would this still be the same on a dodge ram 1500 1996 my wheel is upside down the stage wheels r straight so I’m trying to bring it up right with out messing up my wheels being straight
Once you take the bolt out that runs sideways, follow the shaft up and you’ll find another one you need to loosen. Once you do that the shaft will slide up and off. Sorry for the delayed response!!!
But what is this all about? Didn't show why he was doing it, didn't show the steering wheel at first or the position of the tires, just remove the shaft and then put it back on?
Thanks for the comment! Correct - Just showing how in this video. As for the why… I had to disconnect & pull steering shaft to get it out of the way for access to the transmission for removal. Fun times let me tell ya.
Thank you! This was a very easy fix! I was going to pull the steering wheel off which means taking off the airbag, but this was way better.
Yay! So glad this was helpful :)

Ha! Lol! Praying your project gets easier!!! YOU GOT THIS!!!

@@JorgeGonzalez-gw8sm unfortunately I’m not familiar with the Versa setup, so I’m not much help in that one… sorry!

Awesome! Thanks for the video. This technique also works on 1999 Honda Accord.

Hi! first of all thank you for the video,
and I have a question, I got alignment but my steering wheel is about 2-3 degrees to the left...
Should I use this method? or just move a bit the tie rods ?
In my opinion if you adjust the tie rods it will no longer be aligned. I’d try this. Depending on the size on the teeth you might get it pretty close!

Thanks for sharing!
that’s not good! Hope this vid helps you out!
thanks this help on my 07 acura TL and i assume the acura tsx is the same
@@blaze2051 same or similar 👍
Matchmarks placed pre-repair failed, so im here. Have a general idea to count teeth on both rack & steering wheel, but trying to avoid that
Yeah these things are finicky for sure!
I hit a curve the other day and my steering wheel is all fucked up. Will this help or do I need a wheel alignment or is it something more serious?

Had my wheels aligned on a hunter machine steering wheel is off now my van drives straight not pulling to one side any advice?

Yeah, when I started this, the front wheels were aligned already, it was just at the steering wheel had gotten off center
Disconnect, straighten wheel, reconnect?
@@tylerdibastiani8511 pretty much! But if it’s not already aligned then don’t do it - get an alignment first!

Thanks for the video
How do you guys even get a knuckle to seat right someone did mine and they left it at 90 angle
Yeah it’s not easy and takes a lot of patience to work with it!
I assume this is also away to recenter your steering rack, with your steering wheel
Yeah but you definitely want to get an alignment first
Would this still be the same on a dodge ram 1500 1996 my wheel is upside down the stage wheels r straight so I’m trying to bring it up right with out messing up my wheels being straight
I would guess it would similar. Honestly I have not done it on a Ram so I can’t be sure.
Thanks dude
what did you do too straighten it?
To straighten out the wheel?
Dumbest question
How did you pull it completely off?
Once you take the bolt out that runs sideways, follow the shaft up and you’ll find another one you need to loosen. Once you do that the shaft will slide up and off.
Sorry for the delayed response!!!
He cut out the most important part of the video … how he actually got it off
Yeah that part did get cut out… pretty easy though, just loosen the nuts, pull out the bolts, the. pull up to separate the shaft…
But what is this all about? Didn't show why he was doing it, didn't show the steering wheel at first or the position of the tires, just remove the shaft and then put it back on?
