My great grand daughter has this disease. She is only 3 months old now. I was kind of fearful of the like she has in front of her. But if she can turn out to be like Samantha what a blessing she will be! Thank you for being an example of how to make the best of any situation that you happen to be in. Being sad and gloomy is the easy way out,

There's a massive range of severity of OI. Samantha obviously has one of the most serious types - type 3 or 4. I have OI and so does my daughter and no one has any idea ( we have type 1 - the most common). My daughter is 10 and has broken only one bone in her life. She has had Pamidronate treatment so her bones are almost normal now, she goes to a recreational gymnastics club, guides,swmming - a completely normal childhood. I broke a few bones growing up as there was no treatment back then. We are both a little shorter than average and if you knew what to look for you'd be able to spot we have OI, but it doesn't affect our lives in any way. It's most likely your great grand daughter has type 1 and with the treatments available now she will be able absolutely fine.
