I had never had an American Staffordshire Terrier until I adopted my Lucy about four years ago. She is, hands-down,a genuine part of my heart and soul. We have four dogs total, and I love and adore them all, but my Lucy is my constant companion and my heart. Something about this breed is just so special and they honestly are so loving and smart. I can’t imagine how I’ll ever recover when her day comes to cross the Rainbow Bridge, but the one thing I do know is that she will take a piece of me with her and I will never be the same.

I don't know why I'm just finding this now! My tv recorded it and I was showing my Kukki - also an AmStaf. She was sooooo excited to see Trouble!!!! And When he won, we were BOTH very excited.
Currently own one, after owning red nose pitbull, boxer and have experience with German shepard's. I would bet my life on well trained Amstaff overall all breeds, very close to German Shepard( Germans have natural intelligence and instinct thus do not require as much off certain types of training, any German breed) The more they are pushed the more they get fired up a great benefit if using them as trained family protector or K9. Great with kids and people as well with other dogs without even socializing them as with my current one I did not do anything extra). Their physical strength is unmatched and their cardio is great if trained weekly. That one was a beautiful example of the breeds lines, very pronounced strong neck and more square jaw and head line. Bad rep as with any dog has nothing to do with breed but their upbringing/humans. Perfect "nanny dogs" as Their name has been known for long time.
Troubles owners should be ashamed of themselves. It is an abhorrent act to cut dogs ears. Then again it is the USA where nobody seems to care. Also it seems the rest of you who commented don't care either!
Question: all white Americans staffordshire terrier can still be register, i know that but can they compete? Reason being the UKC also shows these dogs and registers them but will NOT allow an all white ones to compete. The AKC website isn't clear, and ive never seen one compete in show.
For Amstaff or Apbt its better to have ears on,even in the dark past of fighting,best dogmens knew secret and kept ears,they said dog could take way more punishment if he or she had ears,so for this breed its for the look I guess.
@6ix6ear I've seen many more muscular amstaffs with thinner bellies so I agree this dog is on the heavy side around his belly. What a beautiful dog though.

Watching this with my amstaff puppy and might’ve cried a little. They really are the best dogs. Ty for breaking the mold, Trouble!
As an amstaff mother I cried tears of joy! Trouble and Blair were amazing and this is a huge win for these amazing dogs! Good Trouble!!!!
In 52 years, I have never cried watching a sporting event until today. As an amstaff dad I hope this helps to bring positive attention to the breed.
