Back in 1959, just prior to the publication of Naked Lunch, I lived in the East Village,. I was next door to Alan Ginsburg, on 2nd Street near Avenue D. I never visited, unfortunately, and missed my chances to catch Burroughs when he was in town. I'd read "Junkie," and knew he'd get a lot of press when it came out. Just one of many similar missed opportunities.
