DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HANDBAG DESIGNER! *NYC BASED*

Hi Everyone! This is a day in my life working as a Handbag and Accessories designer for a well known global brand. I went to design school at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in NYC, and then continued on to work for for several brands where I designed footwear, handbags, hardware, jewelry and accessories. I have been designing for this current brand for the past five years and wanted to take you along with me for a typical day working remote!

I have a strong desire for becoming a handbag and luggage designer. How did you get started?

Go for it! I have always been interested in art/fashion/design so for college I got into the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, and got degrees in jewelry design and accessories design(mainly focused on designing/making bags and shoes). From there I was able to have that school on my resume and that helped me get jobs in the industry after graduating! My advice would be to take classes/course or watch tutorials online on how to make tech packs/specification sheets of the design with all of the materials/measurements etc, because you will have to send these specs to a factory so they are able to make your bag, or you could hand make it yourself! I can make a whole video at some point on how to get started if that would help!

Yes! I have traveled to Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Italy and Spain all for work for different design jobs!
