I am trying to reinstall the front window in my camper (Play-More II so a bit different of a shape) and was wondering how you measured and cut the new window taking into account the slight curve that the Boler naturally has.
I just took the old windows into a plastics shop in Ottawa and they cut new ones. They needed a little force to bend them into shape but they fit perfect.
Do you have an episode 8 or more? My boler is getting a ful gut job this May and I am very excited and nervous! Scared most about the floor. Any way I can replace it while it is still on the frame?
I did my floors without removing the frame, just did the centre last, and kept the frame and body on stands so nothing shifted. It’s a crap job, but not nearly as shitty as reinstalling the benches, which I did yesterday
We will have the inside cork sprayed. I removed all of the exterior rivets. Next I need to fabricate supports for the furniture on the inside walls and fiberglass them in. After that I will cork spray :) Thanks for watching.
That fan will suck the farts out before you know they are going to happen! I made a little plate to install an 8” computer fan in the stock vent. Super quiet, and creates plenty of draft. I’m also adding smaller fans to force ventilation behind the fridge, that little thing can really heat the tiny space!
It will come....in time lol. Im going to get the interior cork sprayed. I removed all of the exterior rivets that hold the furniture in so I will need to fiberglass blocks of wood on the interior walls so the furniture has something to hold onto.
Did you do a video of the inside? I watched all 7 videos yesterday they are well done, your did a fantastic job. You and your wife did a great job painting the boiler. What did your wife make the curtains and the covers for the cushions out of as well as what colours are they?
Thats the funny part...we havent finished the inside yet. Its still a shell. This spring we will finish the inside. I live next to a small business that does custom drapery. We will pick the colours and they will refinish the pillows. My wife wants bright happy colours lol
I bought my Lexan windows for the front and rear of my '72 Boler from an auto glass professional. I had asked the autobody guy who did my paint job to install those two windows; he struggled and gave up. So I had the auto glass guy install them. He struggled too, but he got them in. I remember him telling me that although the factory-installed gasket would have had the insert bead on the inside of the trailer, the only way he could get the window in was to put the bead on the outside. I hadn't noticed which side it had been on originally, but you can tell when you look at the rubber -- 40 years of exposure to sun and weather dulled the surface of the non-bead side. So tell us, Mitch! Did you manage to get things put back together in time to take the family camping last year? *Check out my resoration at bigeastboler.blogspot.com.
I managed to make a glorified shelter haha. The exterior was complete. I filled it full of mattresses and pillows to make a huge bed on the floor. We spend the whole trip outside so it was worth it.
Enjoyed the series and do enjoy your travels..
Thanks!
Well done videos! Can't wait to see more...
Thanks!
Looking forward to another update. Looks great what you have done so far.
Thanks, Its a fun project.
Did you finish her?
Fantastic videos!
Thanks!
When will the next video of this rebuild be out?
What fan is that? You didnt have to make a spacer for it on the roof? Does it hang down in the inside?

Butyl Tape is the best, different from Butyl Putty.

Enjoy the progress videos. Where did you find the gaskets for the windows?
Scamp trailers have them!
Hey what are you going to use for the insulation?
The Plan is cork spray :)

Hi Mitch, I was wonder what are you doing for interior wall?
Are you replacing the ensolate?
Yes, Im replacing it with cork spray.
Where did you get the back window?
I bought it from a plastics shop in Ottawa.
What is the tape you put on to seal the window?
It’s best to use Butyl Tape
I used butyl tape.

I may see if I can add a small second fan like you are using for when Im on solar power.
Which room fan did you install?
I believe it was called the Fantastic fan,
Damn, I was waiting for the interior wall Reno episode 😨
