    from 2:35 to 2:45 the elephant is like "STOP IT! Let me eat the watermelon!!" and the lady keeps kicking the watermelon away.
    Then after she lifts up Jimmy, she's right back to the watermelon. Poor elephant :(

    It's important that people learn about elephants but it's also important that people know that this is not a good situation for an elephant to be in. Hopefully they only have those bull hooks as a precaution and never actually use them.
    The place where Jeff said Roxy was from has most of its income come from renting out elephants for parties. That doesn't seem great for the elephants. Although I'm sure it's better than circus life it's not awesome.

      Well, you don't have to be an animal behaviorist or specialist of any kind to know that one of the greatest threats against elephants is the tourism and captivity. Absurdly many elephants are taken from the wild to learn tricks, like the one Roxy did there, to entertain humans, most of them under unacceptable circumstances.
      Fallon and his audience is not to be judged, because they obviously don't know any better and just want to be entertained at the expense of dear Roxy. I just hope that he and his audience will soon be informed of the truth behind their entertainment, so elephants one day might be left in peace

      It can't be in captivity. Elephants live in strong families that all look after each other. All the adults look after and teach the babies.
      Their bonds are so strong that they visit the bones of dead family members and often stand for hours in silence caressing the bones and skull with their trunks.
      Depriving such intelligent animals of these freedoms is a form of torture.

    • @amemestar6389
      @amemestar6389 2 роки тому

      @@distanceismyplastercast but do you realise elephants are losing their natural habitat from illegal logging, poaching, the pet trade, circuses, pollution and climate change. That is why we need to preserve them in zoos, sanctuaries, national parks and safari parks. But mostly we need to protect their natural habitat. Sure elephants won’t have the same behaviours as they would in the wild. But just as long they have a large enclosure, food, water, herds of elephants, not made to perform tricks, social interaction and company I will assure you that elephants will have have a happy and long life and maybe could breed them but not forced to could save them from extinction.

I watched flipper and Mutual of Omaha ( show about animals) and that's how I began training dogs for free to help owners. Yes there are people and trainers who are mean but there are good people who love animals who train also. You know, if all you think or write is negative then you spread negatively. Think about it.

    Dear Jimmy, I love your show. You make me laugh. But this particular video made me sad. I do not know what qualifications Jeff Musial has in terms of handling animals, but to wrangle that poor albino alligator on the floor, just to show him off, was in bad taste. Animals feel a lot of stress when being transported or handled and just to do so, so that one audience can gasp and clap, I feel, is not worth it. It was not even educational. Had it been for the sake of educating people, then this may have been worth it, but just to bring an adult elephant onto the show for the sake of sensationalism is cruel. She may be trained, but Roxy is a living being who does not deserve to be paraded and prodded by her trainers, so that she can do some "awesome" tricks. How did this raise awareness, besides making us aware that Jimmy seems to be pretty scared of animals?

    1) they live 60 years or so in the wild, so she's probably alive and still young and healthy.
    2) doing tricks and poses is not abuse, Elephants have been domesticated for too long that more elephants lived with humans than the ones who lived in the wild, they were transportation, workers, show animals, pets, holy animals, and ancient tanks in the battlefield (e.g Hannibal), so they get along with humans just fine.
    3) some Elephants were abused in some circuses, but an elephant is a smart animal and not all domesticated ones are abused, they are smarter than dogs and cats, and among the top 7 smartest living beings on earth.

They must be terrified not knowing what's going on , all the screaming, all the noize, the lights, and i'm sure they have to use some tranquilizer to keep them calm so they are also drugged.. Don't like please stop. Leave the animals in their homes, how would you like if someone take you from your house against your will just to entertain a bunch of something from another species? Even if they treat you well.. And also btw I've seen many times how animal trainers work.. especially the circus/sea world ones..They have to beat and many times torture an animal in order to teach them to do what you want. That's the only way. You think an animal would ever wear a tutu and dance? They belongs to the nature!!!

Living my life as I should, in the wild. Not in a cage, not in a circus, not with stupid costume, not with chains on my foot. Elephants, when free, walk around 50 miles per day. Here they keep them chained on the floor pretty much all the time. That's why you see many times elephants swinging on side to side, it's an hysterical reaction for being immobilized. They go mad. Can you imagine? It's like if someone takes you and keep you tied to a chair all day long, talking to you in another language and beat you if you don't do what they want, and even harder if you rebel... And dragging you around so others can watch you.. yeah they feed you and maybe sometimes you get a caress but.. Would you like this life? .. Well it's actually much safer than living in every city these days...

    That elephant has been tortured to learn circus things. Wild animals, as the name says, are wild and even if some can be happy domesticated, are not able to learn tricks

    • @shannonbest6982
      @shannonbest6982 8 років тому +1

      Roby Quay although it isn't a preferable method, when used correctly, the elephants feel no pain from it because the hook isn't sharp. It's pressure guidance like horses use in reins and on their sides.

    • @98Gummie
      @98Gummie 8 років тому +1

      Its called an ankus and its used by trainers as an extension of the arm, because of their size its just used to point to certain areas of the elephants body or to help guide them. Never to hurt them

    • @blablabla2847
      @blablabla2847 8 років тому

      So , why should an elephant follow "the trainer" ? The answer is : because it hurts. In Western circuses and zoos, some keepers or trainers tries to hide the hook point with a shaving brush or smaller, but sharper spikes. The effect remains however the same.

    • @blablabla2847
      @blablabla2847 8 років тому +1

      And that is not pain? Even a single jointed snaffle can hurt the horse. The double jointed snaffle adds pressure to the side jaw bone. The jaw bone of a horse is sharp as a knife and applying pressure to push tissues down along this sharp bone can cause excruciating pain.

    • @bige8949
      @bige8949 7 років тому +4

      Haven't read up about the horse jaw bone part, but I've talked to elephant trainers when I was volunteering in India and at least from my experience the reason elephants follow the trainer is because they've developed a relationship (of course there is a "do good = get a treat, do bad = don't get a treat" thing going on, but that's how you train any animal). Elephants are highly intelligent creatures, much more so than dogs for example, and once a trainee relationship has been established they are nearly inseparable. One guy even told me of an elephant that when it's trainer suffered a heart attack and died, the elephant refused to eat to the point that they had to force feed it to keep it alive.

    This is so sad and disheartening to watch...Elephants are meant to live freely in the wild or at least at an elephant sanctuary; not to do tricks for the amusement of humans. It's modern day slavery. I want to beat that lady with her bullhook!

    This is one of those scenario's where yes, the elephant has clearly been mistreated, but that may well be in the past. There's no way they'd even consider actually using the hooks unless something catastrophic happened. Without having an actual elephant on the show they simply aren't going to be able to deliver the message anywhere near as effectively as they have to the millions that have seen this clip. It's a minor wrong committed for a much greater good.

    • @astronomyfan8145
      @astronomyfan8145 5 років тому

      @Tom Robinson Yes. While I too noticed those hooks and how she lifted her foot up when she came out, I'm willing to reserve judgement on Musial and the trainers until I see undeniable evidence that she was treated inhumanely and abused. I read PETA's story on her, but I don't believe them half the time. At least I don't believe them about Musial. Until I get credited, undeniable evidence.

      A creature that amazing should be in the wild where it belongs, not on a stage for amusement, Jeff bringing birds on the show and spiders and whatever is different but imagine what that elephant went through to become that obedient, alot of them are tortured just so they can be used for our amusement.
