We had our Frat Christmas party in The Welland House in the late 60's. The tear down of the Wright House, the YMCA, Diana Sweets and lots of historical building disappeared and on and on. St. Catharines was pretty a long time ago but has changed so much. The downtown core was full of clothing stores at one time it was the place to be.
You cant get insurance on a vacant building that has been vacant for 5 years, no insurance company in their right mind would insure a building like this and that would have roof leaks, broken windows.

It’s been a year this this devastating fire, and still it sits a mess and nothings been done, I only wish the city council asked our opinion on what is to replace our historic areas, the residents need to have more to say, we do pay taxes, remember that 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
You have to accept the reality that the building was simply an old structure, its appearance was sad from a time that will never return. It also had no use for the development of the city and had no place for the future. I already burned it in the past.
