The Need for Speed Series as Described by Michael Rosen

- As someone who's pretty much played just about every NFS game in the franchise, I wanted to take my spin on the "as described by Michael Rosen" meme with this.
This is all just for fun and shouldn't be taken seriously. The internet is too serious as it is.
Enjoy. - Розваги
nothing in the nfs franchise could be as dark as Carbon Own the City storywise. the revelation at the end was dark af.
I had Rosen's line of "I could kill you in 5 seconds with my bare hands" in mind originally for Carbon: OTC, but passed on it because I feel not everyone would've gotten what I would've been sneakily referencing.
The ending has me just 😂😂😂
FREE AT LAST
FREE AT BLOODY LAST
THREE BLOODY YEARS
And started crying..
That's exactly how that game was. Great, living as the prisoner of the moment, then after a month of beating the story, you are disappointed
@@sambeezy007 Pretty much how I felt. Got really into the game when it had just come out and admittedly I DO like the campaign, but once you've beaten it.. it just feels hallow and empty, like there was a huge missed oppourtunity.
What makes the 90s NFS so special:
1. The game series first entrance was thanks to the publication of the car magazine Road & Track. Pretty unique for it's time that a magazine got involved with games.
2. NFS II's car list is mostly centered around concept cars. So the developers could design them however they please.
3. NFS III Hot Pursuit have a clever type of music composition. Instead of just playing the songs, they all change tone & depth throughout the stage. Carbon did this too.
4. High Stakes damage model on PC leans heavily towards more realistic car behavior. Should you hurt your ride enough it will showcase different types of damage.
Imo The Run was amazing, it was very short, but for the time I played it I absolutely loved it, the best story I've seen in a Need For Speed game
The run is a truly awesome game, it’s pretty much perfect in all round
If it’s not so short
@@lhoujikasdfbjklfasdhbjkas7696 I agree
And Carbon own the city have better story
@@lhoujikasdfbjklfasdhbjkas7696 I like The Run, Most Wanted 2012, Rivals, Shift 1 and 2, and Heat and Hot Pursuit and No Limits
@@Behruz120 Carbon Own the City had a great story, but not as good as The Run
Need For Speed Porsche (PC release) holds special place in my heart
NFS III Hot Pursuit and High Stakes on the PC were unbelievably gorgeous to look at for its time. Hands down some of the most detailed games from the late 90s
I was expecting the "and everything was lovely once again" one on Heat, I was not wrong
1:13:My first Need For Speed game.Sometimes I still play it now.
I really, really do not get why many people disliked Undercover. I think Undercover is a very underrated game in the franchise.
I don't know why many people dislike Shift and The Run, I personally really enjoyed these games when they came out, they were something new to the series and weren't that bad at all
a lot of the nfs games people shit on are actually some of the best in the series
I don't dislike Shift at all. I feel its aged poorly, though this is a fate I feel shared by most sim-racers due to time.
Its also been years since I've gone through both Shift games properly, so that can always change with a re-playthrough.
The Run to me has always stood as a great concept executed poorly. Its far too short for the sort of game its attempting to convey, and the handling physics feel very weighty and all over the place. I also felt its main protagonist (Jack Rourke) to be rather bland, nothing that really stood out imho. I wouldn't actually call it *horrible* like in this video, that was just left in there more for comedic purposes, but I wouldn't call it a good game either.
Ultimately as I mentioned in the description, this is just a video meant to be for fun, nothing to be taken seriously.
Totally understandable, everyone has their opinions, and I understand that this video is just for fun, I just meant that I never really understood this. Then again, everyone has their opinions and everyone has different taste which is alright.
Damn shame about Shift, I really wanted to get into it, but the controls and physics just did not suit my play style
The shift series is goated. Had the actual immersion of racing like grid.
V-rally ISNT a NFS game, it just had that title slapped on it in North America to make it sell
I had to make sure to include the technicalities.
This is the best version and the only one to feature the classics , lovely video
This is the best version of Michael Rosen describing NFS games so far! Great job 👍
Solid reviews, couldn't agree more.
Also, that was a clever edit for Underground, you had me fooled for a second there lol
I love how i just denies NfS Nitro, thats the first nfs i ever played and i loved it
I have the least experience with Nitro, so I can't give a proper view on it.
The clip I used was not meant to be "denying" its existence, more just a game that exists.
I am genuinely intrigued to play Nitro at some point.
I think everybody sleeps on Need for Speed 2015
Yes indeed, the last nfs with the supra
bro i wish i wouldve slept on it so i wouldnt have that god forbidden experience in my life with trash tuning options( if you could even select them beacuse they body parts were blocked by other parts) horrible story, trash music, horrible driving physics AND OH THE LOADING TIMES just a bad game i hated it. It had some cool cars but thats it imo
@@Zontacx3 bro it was a stepping stone and the story I don't get why people care about a story and they're racing game if you want a serious Need for Speed story go watch the movie and then come back this suspension tuning was pretty good pulling out the wheels lowering the front and the back individually it had some cool real life car culture elements but again it was a stepping stone but people sleep on it
Indeed, I started playing and I love it:
-The soundtrack is perfection!
-Great tuning as always...
-Graphics that are imo, still better than any NFS that has ever came out.
-Car sounds are weirdly better sometimes!
-The ambience and story is awesome!
-Having real car culture icons in the game is so cool!
-I like the side characters, I even like the fact that Spike is annoying my ass often because of how cocky he is... X)
And I know the physics are horrible (maybe not that much) but I was expecting it when buying it so... It's no surprise, it doesn't ruin my fun tough! And I know the overall AI is garbage, the map is pretty small but I can get over these things.
And of course, Toyota was actually in game babyyy! 🤙
the handling model in that game is just so sooo horrible, its impossible to look past that and see other good stuff
NFS III was my introduction to PC gaming in the late 90s. What a beautiful game.
The run is actualy pretty good
The edge one is so real
Finally! Most accurate NFS Retrospective by Michael. Even Motor City Online mentioned ❤❤❤
He only got wrong the NEF 2015. But it was very funny, nicely done.
Tuning and graphics were awesome, but handling is a trainwreck.
@@chibiy2j775 Can always be fixed with mods, you know..
Nfs most wanted PS3 changed my life. Seriously what a phenomenal game.
I loved the run
I actually loved nfs undercover
Same
especially when you know the drift boost tech
Me too, considering it's actually one of the first NFS game I ever played and was on Wii.
Same, only the reason why is because it was the only need for speed game with a Bugatti
@@goldboy1264 no most wanted 2012 had one you just had to unlock it
1:18 😂
The rest was accurate, but I loved The Run. It was like a gateway to the newer games.
In all fairness, I don't hate The Run by any means, its just a game that I wish could've been executed better.
Very buggy and awkward handling physics for me, personally.
@@ThunderTHR-AW It doesn’t feel buggy at all for me.
channel is really wonderful. Here is a great video.
0:20 it's pretty funny V-Rally was included in here since in here Europe V-Rally didn't have the NFS title, it was just known as V-Rally.
My idea: Micheal Rosen ranks every Blacklist car from Most Wanted (2005)
1:25 I was about to raise the torch and pitchfork until I saw the editing, wasn't expecting that.
It’s great to see some ProStreet DS appreciation
I played NFS from 1 to Underground 2, then stopped following. I didn't expect that I missed so many of them!
NFS undercover was actually quite good (at least the 1st city idk my device which was psp don’t have working memory stick so it crash and I lost progress but ye that’s cos memory stick not game )
2:24:I wouldn't say it's such a bad game, but among NFS, it's possible. And by the way, I also sometimes play it now.
0:55 reminds me of Cicero from Skyrim 😅
3:21 my childhood game
I appreciate Undeground Rivals getting some love
NFS high-stakes music 🤌
Time for Eden to meme this.
Payback is underrated af. I wonder why so many people dislike such a masterpiece. Pretty sure it's safe to say Payback is a masterpiece since the game was very philosophical about cars. I actually love some of the quotes said by some characters in the game.
“Given enough time and attention, an artist can turn any pile of scrap into a supercar” - Rav
“Say you pull up next to a real sweet ride. What do you think? How much does it cost? How fast it can hit a hundred?
I'll tell you what I think.
I see potential. I see the knife's edge. That split second where I put everything on the line.
I see myself... winning it all” - Tyler
I fixed it with my Pursuit System mod. The one thing it obviously needed.
2015 is fire
Most accurate video
Nfs mw 2005/2012, carbon, hot pursuit 2010 and rivals were the best
Oh ,come on!
Undercover, shift (i prefer 2 myself), run and the 2015 are good games, especially now *looks at unbound*
Payback and movie good in their own way
it seriously went down after need for speed the run
I grew up playing Undercover (all pc/ps3/360/ps2/wii). Yes they were terrible, but nostalgic as hell imo. Most wanted 2005 is obviously the goat, and i’d say the worst overall is probably no limits (which is very limited mind you)
Am I one of the few people who actually really loved Rivals? :')
So, admittedly I have very little experience with Rivals, I've only played it briefly.. but most I knew from the groups I've been in weren't particularly thrilled with it.
@@ThunderTHR-AW yeah, people mention the online play and the always online as their biggest peeves with it, I had the benefit of playing it single player (the online servers were basically dead and I didn't bother to connect the game to the network anyway) which is FAR more enjoyable. The always online is a double edge sword to me, it definitely makes the overall experience a bit more challenging because you can't pause, which makes police chases one helluva ride and since I'm one the topic of police, THE POLICE IN THAT GAME OMG, they're amazing, the weapons system is really fun and the music... OH MY GOODNESS THE MUSIC!
@@ThunderTHR-AW the only thing it lacked for me was customization all you could really do is change the car's colour and vinyls... And the car list is a bit small but other than that... It's an amazing NFS game to me
Rivals was great and it was the last best nfs game
I like Nfs 2015 💀
Hot Pursuit wii is a bit rich but ok in my opinion
NFS Undercover ps2 is very good
God, I really gotta know now. Undercover was my first NFS game and I absolutely adore it. Why does it catch so much shit?
I actually personally quite like Undercover, though in a "so bad its good" sort of manner.
Its largely down to feeling like a tired concept by that point after the stretch of games that came before it, and it is HILARIOUSLY both buggy and unpolished.
Probably one of the best soundtracks in any NFS game though, and I will *die* on that hill.
@@ThunderTHR-AW I've never had issues with bugs in it
@@ThunderTHR-AWexplain me why Rivals and The Run are bad
2:01 2:08
V-Rally isn't a NFS game
They were marketed where I am as NFS games, hence why I included them as 'technicalities'.
I'm aware they actually have nothing to do with NFS. :P
NFS Underground and Undergreound 2 are the best NFS Games of all time.
GBA version is horrible
@@maxiquick5738 I mean the PS2 and Gamecube Version.
Payback was good gameplay wise. Upgrading system was a joke.
The gameplay is honestly its only real strength for me.
That whole 'Speedcard' upgrade system and its very one-dimensional characters is a huge turnoff.
Bruh, Payback was great. The cards kinda sucked, sure, but the gameplay was awesome.
Also, i don't mind the movie at all.. it's better than any of the recent Fast & Furious :D

Nfs the run wii or java version is so terrible, but ps3/pc/x360 is way better than these versions
I stopped playing after hot pursuit. Ever since ghost was a part of the development team the games got too arcade sided. So pretty much after pro-street.
??? bro the only games in the entire franchise that arent pure arcade are shift 1 and 2
It's literally an arcade racing franchise 💀
wtf
Payback: QUICK GET OUT GET OUT OF HERE
Heat was not as good as it was made out to be, run was great and undercover ps2 version was a detrimental part of my childhood. Wtf you on bro
Its just a meme I did when this style of video was still relevant, its nothing to take seriously. :P
God, Undercover was such garbage
all wrong PAYBACK is the goat
i don't like NFS heat
First time I finished it it was a bit rich but ok and the 2nd time I finished it for some reason it was NOICE
It’s definitely a top 5 nfs IMO
Same, it was very boring.
heat and payback should switch
No chance, honestly.
Payback's 'Speedcard' system and extremely one-dimensional characters kills any chance of me being able to properly get much enjoyment out of it.
@@ThunderTHR-AW the game is about cars not one- dimensional characters and speedcards. tuning is just as shitty is every need for speed game
dude agree with everything but heat even undercover was better than heat imo. Heat was just a worse wannabe burnout paradise and the story was really boring not the worst but still meh
i think youre somehow confusing the gameplay of heat with most wanted 2012, either that or you have a very strange memory of burnout paradise
heat is nothing like burnout at all
