She has a very curious mix of traits. She moves a lot like a forward, but handles the ball well like a guard. She passes pretty well, rebounds well, can fast break for a layup. It's quite unusual, but a little like Nika Muhl, but with a better 3pt shot.
when they lost against Nd last time their problem is aggressiveness and offensive rebound that I feel like Cheli might provide or Quandance. Uconn needs past plays like this last time. Paige might heard my thoughts, I shoots unconsciously tonight.
No, against ND the main problem was the defense which allowed a lot of open shots and rebounds. On the other hand, UConn's poor 3-point percentage allowed ND to defend more lightly. Excluding Paige, today the team shot less than 30% from 3 and around 43% from 2, and you pay for that with teams like ND. Lots of work still to be done, let's not fool ourselves
@@FabrizioPati-i6f I did not fool myself regarding aggressive approach to the game. Rebounding is the weakest part of UCONN this season coz' Jana and Ice is not aggressive enough inside. w/c Chelli or Samuels might provide as a role player. ND game Sarah was held to get rebounds as she is on early foul. Paige was not "aggressive" enough to shoot the ball and try to create some open shots for her teammates even if the team is struggling shooting the ball. When I said aggressiveness you can name every little play/skill basketball should be played that UCONN did not do against ND. And BTW, they play ugly or poor shooting against ND but still lost just 11.
@@FabrizioPati-i6f Agreed. The team was working on non-Paige offense until the ND game, then she came into the offense. So, they're just now getting to the point where everybody can eat...if they can manage the knife and fork.
Fair trash talking -- Paige got pwned and I think she knows it and owned it. Good news is I think it might have been what she needed to refocus on basketball and forget about Nike show debuts... As a longtime UCONN fan -- both women and men -- I don't mind losses in November/December at all. Sometimes they're good for you. They wake your ass up to what you need to do. It's what you're doing in late February and March that matters.
@@DirectionlessStudent Owned?? Are you kidding? Paige scored 25 on 55% shooting despite being guarded extremely aggressively ( too much so, she didn’t get 4-5 calls) by a great defender AND they doubled her on every screen. Literally both Citron AND the player guarding the screener covered her, leaving the screener ( usually SS) uncovered. That’s not something done to anyone else in the NCAAs. Her teammates missed 6 open shots that Paige created for them, that’s not her fault. Moreover, Paige is trying to get everyone involved because she’s worries about March. HH choked last March and ND was bounced in the round of 16. PB was NOT the reason they lost. Has anyone ever shot 55% and scored 25 while giving up only 5 points and been blamed for the loss? Lol, that is ridiculous. The expectations on her are ridiculous. HH played her best game ever and will never go 6/10 from 3 again, ever. She shot 2/6 from 2, both layups, and was basically allowed to shoot 3’s because she had never shot like that before. Won’t happen in March, count on it.
@@cbrend22 But Hidalgo played better TBH and ND won the game. At the end of the day superstars gotta come up big in big games. Paige is the consensus #1 pick in the upcoming draft -- she didn't look it in that game. If she has Azzi it's probably a different story, but still...
If PB had been this on @ ND, it's a win. She shot 55%, zero 3 PT, and 0 steals. But as a whole the team court awareness, passing, pick and roll, give and go, the extra pass, the steals -- all crisp, focused, electric vs GTown. Keep going!!!
PB scored 25 against ND while being guarded every possession by Citron, a great defender, and doubled off of every screen. She was also fouled constantly and the home town refs refused to call it. PB was NOT the reason they didn’t beat ND, they got nothing from anyone but KK, and SS disappeared when it mattered. 55% for a guard is GREAT and given they way they played her, even more so. No one else coukd throw it in the ocean. Moreover, she have up 2 hoops( on on a close out 3 if you want to assign that to her). The reason she’s not getting as many blocks this year is players aren’t shooting against her, she shuts them down and they can’t free themselves. Same For steals. Her points against and fg% against are amongst the best in the NCAA
@@cbrend22 UConn talent has to be developed into a real team. This game with Gtown is a real starting point for winning. They're going to get much better over the next games.
We know Sarah Strong and Paige are a lethal combo!!!
Cheli looks like she's playing her way into more minutes. Which is good -- her length is very helpful on defense.

Hey Uconn, season greetings from Hannah Hidalgo.
How kind Hannah! Please remember to reciprocate.
