Hey so I have a question I want to see if someone can answer. My mom was diagnosed with ebv in 2015. I don't remember her having symptoms. I know I probably did drink from her I'm sure sometime. I never had mono nor have I been diagnosed with ebv. I also have never had the symptoms of ebv so is it possible I have it? If so should I watch out for my spit and blood? I'm washing my hands constantly and I'm always worried about infecting others. Should I be worried or not?

Our doctors will not test the reactivation. I had it before. I know I still suffer. Fatigue goes with some sore throat and a blotchy rash in my neck.

I have a question regarding how a patient can further heal themselves from a mononucleosis diagnosis that included an enlarged spleen, and had the patient symptomatically suffering most for a span of time of about a month initially, and reoccurring symptoms at times later. After first being misdiagnosed with strep throat (though without a positive showing in strep test) and given an antibiotic. He apparently has had strep diagnoses this way in the past as his tests seems to usually show neg regardless of infection seeming to be present or in beginning stsges. Anyway, After about 3 days of no improvement at all and possibly getting worse i made the patient (my fiance) call the urgent care who couldnt be bothered for more info regarding a throat culture so i could ensure the proper antibiotic was being administered, i then pushed for a second opinion where mono was immediately diagnosed along with enlarged spleen by another clinic. Now almost a year later from initial symptoms, he still periodically once a month or every other month for a few days or more still suffers from severe spleen pain, exhaustion, etc. Doctors didnt give any type of advice as to a special diet to implement specific nutrients to target a suppressed immune system etc. or to avoid certain foods to prevent further inflammation... So ive been left with researching this condition to find drs explain how mono. Being a EBV can be a precurser to certain cancers, im wondering if it laying dormant can do so even...my fiance a year prior had to have several growths removed..and a year later a growth in the same area was biopsied and showed it wasnt a malignant growth. But can i trust that? I too have had certain health issues i wonder if could down the line if related have caused his issues or vice versa. I feel sometimes when these complex issues arise and couples arent evaluated together since they obviously could re-expose their partner to something laying dormant inside them, this will be a never ending process of sickness. The general public isnt aware of how complex and related viruses and other pathogens can be for themselves but how it can be directly affecting others in your household to get symptoms that seem unrelated but are, based on their own specific makeups combined with the same germs. I think its more common than not to get misdiagnosed with wrong conditions these days as so much is present around us, bc from my experience for myself and family these things get diagnosed often with no lab testing at all or any thorough exam even being conducted. So wrong rx's further depleting the immune system once the trial and error process occurs has made for a very sick population. Along with limitations such as for example exam times as mandated by insurance companies, and being limited to medications and often even what diagnosis can be communicated...the public and drs alike are so very limited. Anyway, can someone please help me determine the best way to look into the pain occuring suspect of the spleen. Theres not much info ive found on how to for example detox the spleen. I want to fix this rather than just mask the pain, which no opiate pain med tried shields this pain for him anyway...along with eliminating this mono from continuing to reoccur if thats even possible now. And what conditions ive had that couldve caused this ultimately...like i was at one time diagnosed with HPV that i was told mustve took care of itself naturally after further examination...but can it still infect if lying dormant? If it never fully really goes away possibly? I am still suffering after many unanswered and unexplained symptoms after specialist visits etc. I dont want him to go through this now too. :((

Hopefully you hv gotten some answers by now but just know that ebv is not something you can pass back and forth.. once exposed you carry it forever.. yes it can reactivate and replicate as mine is right now and during those times people that hv not been exposed can contract ebv.. if you hv been exposed yours will not reactivate unless your immune system is compromised by stress or other illnesses.. please hv him seen by a good functional medicine dr.. I contracted ebv at 25 and am now 43 dealing with reactivated ebv and Lupus.. if it doesn’t go into latency autoimmune disease will creep up Along with malignancies.. ebv is very serious

@@Warriorwomen42621 Jessica have you been diagnosed w/ Chronic EVB? Is it showing in your DNA? I had my results delivered last Tuesday and no one in my family is even trying to understand the seriousness of the disease. I have a number of other health issues but they won't outright kill me like this will. I have 2 seizure disorders one being Epilepsy, the other an inoperable tumor. The tumor isn't cancerous or growing, it's pushing on an inconvenient place on my brain. Other illnesses also. I've been on disability for 9 years and I'm 56. All of this has been extremely difficult for me to grasp b'cause I was highly successful, entertained regularly, had many friends and now I have nothing. My shrink told me years ago that friends and family would distance themselves from me b'cause they're afraid I would have a seizure and het hurt on their watch, so they would avoid the situation (me) entirely. I didn't believe her, she was correct. My drivers license was medically revoked in 2010 and I don't live in a city where mass transportation is available. I'm sorry for rattling on, I was wondering if you have found any doctors that know how to treat Chronic EBV? I would really like to begin checking items off of my Bucket List sooner rather than later. Thank you for any help you can provide.

@@Warriorwomen42621 I'm sorry that you're now living with lupus. Do you recall what you doc used to treat ebv with? My doctor prescribed the antiviral med Valacyclovir 500 mg 2x daily. It's used to treat HIV/Herpes etc. I suppose it's the best there is right now. She wants me to get stared on whatever is involved w/ getting on the bone marrow transplant list. I just don't know if I want to go that far. Honestly, I've had enough. My ebv values were the highest the lab had ever tested, they ran the test 3 times. I never do anything 1/2 way. Do you know how rare we are to have Chronic EBV? I'm also a white female. Highly unlikely. That's what the docs say every time they get some last stab in the dark diagnosis back for me. I tell them, I really might be part alien or some shit. How else can you explain the unexplainable? Thank you so much for replying, I do hope you're feeling stronger. Please take care of yourself with this COVID-19 virus running amuck. If you do recall what helped you kill evb please share with me. I will forever be grateful. Thank you.
