To Palmiras 100 I agree this is rotating modulation. However, I am not sure what you mean by forced or trite.

@@eddyvideostarHi! I simply meant that it could have been a cliche. instead, the modulation is incredibly smooth; it doesn't feel like we're going to a distant key. EWF never ceases to amaze me, after all these years. I mean, perfectly-pitched hand percussion (in "September")? Here's a recent commentary on them: ua-cam.com/video/FAgYcO_wTTo/v-deo.html

You have to tip a nod to Foster, Graydon and Champlin...,yes, EW&F, did change the song to suit that high falsetto from Bailey, etc. but the basic chart has got to be considered one of the best jazz/rock fusion ballads ever......,but...,that extra modulation that EW&F thru in is unbelievable. This is the meaning of "lush life".

This is very good practice. For the advanced ones such as this, I would encourage you to display the chords as they would appear per their style of key signature. For example, when the chorus is going up by 4th's (the root note), once you get to measure 6 of the chorus, don't be afraid to display the chords as "Db..." :Gb...." & "Cb..." Just a thought - again, I like playing along with these. Thanks for posting.
