Thanks a lot, this is just what i wanted to see and know. I want to buy this Chromebox 5 and upgrade it directly with a SSD to 1TB instead of 256GB. Which 1TB SSD do you advice? A WD like yours or any other?
When I did the research on which ones to use, I tried to pick the best one so that's what I would recommend because I know it works. But in theory other drives should also work as long as the specifications are the same. 🙂
@@brettatenciorn8522 OK thank you very much. I think I go for the WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe™ SSD in 1TB. Last question, I promise : Do you think it is preferable to buy the version with heat shrink ? Will that fit?
My quesiton is in regards to the ram type. I see that you used DDR4 3200, ut I see online that this chip should support up DDR5? Any clarification on that subject by any chance?
If you change the RAM you do not need to backup anything. As far as the chip being able to handle DDR5 I don't remember why I used DDR4 at the time, can you provide a link of where you're looking at that shows the "chip" can handle DDR5?
@@brettatenciorn8522 I've been trying to send you the links, but for some reason UA-cam won't allow my comment to go through. I just looked up compatible ram types for the Intel® Core™ i7-1260P Processor, since I am specifically interested in getting that model later on. If you can help with proving or disproving this I would greatly appreciate it. *One specific website I found was the one from Intel stating that it somehow possible.
@@feelgoodcharlie3822 I think you have to substitute some of the characters in the links to fool youtube that it is not a link as they might not allow links in the comments section.
@@feelgoodcharlie3822 okay I checked up on it and the problem you're going to run into is not the chip It's going to be with ASUS motherboard it's only set up to accept DDR4 memory sticks not DDR5 they are very different the sockets are different the way they function is quite different and they will not work unless the motherboard is specifically designed to handle DDR5
@@brettatenciorn8522 Alrighty! That answers my question! Thanks a lot. I'ma also be looking into the ram you listed in the description of the video for my own upgrade. I apprecaite the help.
Plz help me... - first, u have to backup os to USB flash by Chromebox Recovery Utility - then, change SSD,RAM, plug in USB and reboot chrome os... Is it right? ...Or.... Just change hardware and open chromebox? Reboot will automatically?
How are you using almost 50GB of RAM?! 🤨🤯 What could you possibly be doing on your ASUS Chromebox 5 that would be utilizing this much RAM?! 🤣 I am highly curious.
wow you must be rich........given the fact that you just wasted all that $ when you could have just bought an external drive and been done.....you certainly do not need more then 16 gigs of ram for chrome os.......maybe 32 if you enable the linux enviroment.......as far as the wireless charging goes.....did you buy the one that has wireless charging?.....cuz thats a $20 option according to another reviewer. Also you might want to correct the typo in your title cuz its not 4tb of memory its 4tb storage and 64 gigs memory
Worked great, thanks for the video.

You should do a full review, comparing it to a m2 mini just for funn
I don't know what an m2 mini is?
@@brettatenciorn8522 He means, an apple mac mini with an m2 chip.
@@feelgoodcharlie3822 Oh! No thanks , I stay far away from all apple products due to a personal dislike of the way the company is run.
I'm going to try with the Asus Chromebox i5 upgrading it to 64gb...even when Asus said it only take a max of 32gb...
go for it, I have had no problems with mine.

I have the Celeron Chrome Box 5. What upgrade specs should I purchase? If I do 4 TB, I'd blow it up.
@@dlos1987Celeron is slower but I don't see a problem with one, two or four TB, So you will have to decide what you want.
