Watching this, it's easier to see the difference between Jonathan and him as Jesus. Such a difference even in his physicality and face! I know there is a bit of costume and makeup that helps but he looks very much like him. Same with George and John. I can see the acting in their character work. They are great professionals.

  • @karen_hockaday

I love how every season shows another side of Jesus. I love "scolding Jesus" in sons of thunder when he gets frustrated with John and big James. "You think you're so much better? Well let me tell you something. You're not. And that's the whole point" . My favorite lines in the whole series.

  • @joannazaleska5316

Thank you George for this interview with Jonathan. For me his Jesus in The Chosen series is actually in the voice….. I do not know - other people say “his eyes, his acting, his looks” but for me it is HIS VOICE and words he is saying in each episode. Obviously you can call it technique but what this “technique” has now produced worldwide for people watching him as Jesus…you just wonder now how this is possible just from acting technique and stillness? Sometimes he complained in his interviews having only 5 lines in episodes BUT … those 5 lines spoken in HIS VOICE are liquid gold and ethereal.

    • @glo3139
      @glo3139 8 місяців тому +4

Liquid Gold. That was a perfect descriptive phrase!! There is something very special about Jonathan’s portrayal of Jesus. Not to sound hokey, but his portrayal of Jesus brought me back to prayer. I always prayed, but in my own way, and now I’m seeing the rosary again. So whatever the magic is, whether it’s in the story or the actors, or both combined it’s helping me spiritually, and I’m very grateful for that.

His voice sounds like a rumbly lion with a golden heart, which is very apt.

      Yeses yass yas!❤🙏💪
Those 5 lines, 5 seconds of hearing him, I'm like almost speeches.
      But then I'm like, no!
      I wanna engage back 😆 🙏🙌

Wow! To Jonathan, I was entranced the way you dissected the formula of becoming a character, to watch it unfold in real time. I didn't understand about the lunchbox until you gave life to it! You should definitely teach. This is amazing. I have a new appreciation for the art of acting.

    Hi Jonathan and George.
It often takes time for a SENSITIVE and SPIRITUAL PERSON to get used to their OUTER BODY (shell): what it looks like, what it sounds like, etc.
No matter how old we get, we never stop learning.
God Bless you and good luck with all your future ventures.

    Mr. Xanthis, (dear Sir)
I've been watching candid interviews of various actors of Jenkins T.V. Special. I especially like your (even though it's a year after you published this in youT)... you dive into deep questions with acting itself.
What I think I love the most, is not only how comfortably you respectfully ASK questions, but how you make the person feel, as you are interviewing . Kudos (as it's said, these days) to you. Please continue with these v.good interactions and interviews. I hope others gain insights as deeply as Roumie and you get (and share). Thanks for this perspective.

This was fascinating. Your questions and answers depened my already big respect for the work of actors.
And also, with some people, as soon as you start looking closer, they go: „Poof!“, just hot air. With Jonathan it’s the exact opposite. The closer you look, the more you'll end up finding deep layers, all built up with humility from the ground up.
Thank you for your own respectful way of allowing that to surface. Looking forward to the "to be continued". :-)

I just watched Jonathan's conversation with George Xanthis on Act Up! I learned so much about the techniques and skills Jonathan uses as an actor - so illuminating! It made me admire him more - the ways he has developed to keep his own self separate from his "Jesus Character" - and the way you both use your professional skills to let the Spirit work through you. Thank you for this most amazing interview. So much hard work and learning involved in your profession that most of us don't know anything about.

I truly don’t think another actor could’ve done Christ in this manner. He was so human but yet spiritually connected to his craft. Love you . May all the glory go to the living God.😊

So rapid learning in short period of time. He's a fast learner great job on that! . Like summer school season cram in coursework. Each day a week worth of learning. Learning skilled work. Awesome! Obviously shows in the Chosen art acting skills . Emotional and non verbal cues to use . That was like inside World of talking shop between actors . It was interesting. And with famous actors as he mentioned during your conversation on that topic. Over all , a better perspective of Jonathan Roumie as a person. . The whole cast has so much knowledge and experience. I didn’t know actors were this intelligent and well read. Where I live nepotism is the norm, and actors’ kids who dropped out of high school become actors with no qualifications.

That was Great job on interview with Jonathan . You asked good question s and he gave good example s and his experience also. As well as name dropping actors he worked with. Like Al Pacino talents and skill. And Clint Eastwood also. I could tell conversation was getting exciting recalling those moments. God bless on your other pod cast. 😁🙏🇺🇸🎼🎶🎵🏜️

I see a young Pacino in Jonathan's face. Pacino did some amazing films! I really liked Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico, And Justice For All.

Thanks for making a place for this podcast on UA-cam!!! This discussion/interview has stirred my long-forgotten theatrical thinking.

Very interesting discussion about acting from the both of you. Very talented and I’ve been interested in acting since drama class in 8th grade. Love The Chosen!

Yes I remember seeing that show episode with Russell Brand and you Jonathan it was a funny scene I was surprised because you and Russell Brand looked almost like each other . I said to myself who's that guy? As I knew Russell Brand from his late night show as guest for different late night shows . He was very funny guy . With his English accent . I was glad to see that episode that you and him were on it was very funny and good entertainment . It made me laugh alot . It's amazing how God works mysteriously ! Because I wondered who you were? And now I know it was you . And Now your Jesus Christ on The Chosen , so God answered my question who you were! To me that's a mini miracle of faith for me. Thank so awesome . Builds my faith as well. Your interview with George was great Job! Thank you for sharing Act up Video with me today . God bless you both .

A former acting student, I loved acting and can relate to the conversation. Love it!
