Scott, you should consider putting on a water talk at Permaculture Voices in San Diego in March 2015. What you are doing would fit in well with those who are creating Permaculture farms and homesteads. You would be reaching an international audience.
The water thing really reminds me of the water issues here in Chile. To the north it is very dry (the driest desert in the world is in the far north) and to the south it is very wet 104" of rain a year. So no matter where you live water can be an issue! Kind of nice to visit though in California eh?
Golly! Wish I'd known you'd be in my backyard! Well, almost. Yeah, the desert does have its stark beauty. I'm an ocean baby, born and raised in Galveston Texas, but....I love my desert. Next time youre out my way, let me know and we can "do lunch", LOL.
Oh. man! I ...Arggg.... You were at the bottom of my mountain! Mt.San Jacinto is where some of those CESA people are from, I know, I give away USDA food with them every month! I wish I had known you were so close, I would have been there.... Waaa!
Gheee, Scott, between you and me... How was the espresso? A good one or dishwater? I hope you enjoyed it and say goodbye With my favorite line from DDP..." The experts from practical preppers have assest your preperations. ..." Save flight home and all the best Kay
California needs to put mandatory cistern on all new construction of at least a couple thousand gallons. Then they could have water release dates on certain zip codes or odd/even address on certain days for a certain amount of water. Commercial bldgs should be 100,000 gallons just to water their lawns , flush toilets, mop floor and fire water storage. Really in the IBC
junior vinsonhill I agree. Check out www.lifetanks.com They offer a flow-through water system that has an "isolate" function keeping your drinking safe during an emergency or interruption. Californians need to "get on the ball" in their preparedness considering how the drought is affecting everyone!
AND, what was their response to you? Did they shun you or welcome your idea's? They have lot of questions? What I found interesting about the people(who where affected by Sandy) who thought preppers are crazy for doing it, like New Yorkers, was that they now prep themselves, after Sandy came by for a visit. Since they are in a huge drought, how are they feeling about water now then before?
I was very surprised at the responses. At first I felt like I was going to be made the laughing stock of the conference but the questions were great, 50 lined up afterwards to thank me and have me sign a book. It was great to have the opportunity to dispel the myths about preppers and I tried to share the importance of preparing for versus reacting to an emergency.
J Doe My name is Cameron and I was the guy representing LifeTank in this video. From my impressions, he was welcomed with open arms! At least from us, who always appreciate a guy who knows what he's talking about. I bought his book and he even signed it. We appreciated everything he has to say and are big fans. So glad we could be a part of that day E775!
Better you than me mate. I wouldn't have said anything that they would like to hear as frankly I distrust the government more with each day that passes by. Just need to get to the new homestead when I can get pass the bloody bankers. Goal is to be completely off grid in ten years.
I believe you could make that work. There are some bells and whistles on the life tank that I did not have the chance to dig into that make it fool proof.
WOW..my lawn is brown and crunchy because I'm told there is NO WATER TOO SPARE for such frivolous things on the West Coast anywhere....yet in Indian Wells (in a desert basin) the golf course is green and lush. Such are the priorities. Not to take away from your speaking and sharing your insights with these managers E775...just the irony of how things are handled in California
Yes, we in northern California are rationing our water so southern Cal can keep their desert golf courses green. Hope you had a chance to hop into that pool !
I live just up the hill from here. the "Indian Well" you say you can't find is because a developer, that is still active in the area today, FILLED IT IN. this is what the well was said to be like ua-cam.com/video/N14Q-9jpAPM/v-deo.html
I bet they pay a Massive Premium for that water. It's a Retirement Area and actually it's where all the wait for it wait for it gay men retire - Yes, you were in the Gay Mecca I bet most of you folks who follow this channel didn't know that tidbit of info. All the Wealthy Real Estate or mostly from San Francisco retire in Palm Springs.
Thanks for being a sound voice for community.

It's good to see you finally get out my way in cali.
Looks like great water management by the locals in Palm Springs, when they run out of drinking water they have grren grass to get planted under....
I'm glad you could be there to represent us.

Will you be getting LifeTank video's?

Would a 119 gal Pressure Level Tank, work just as well for $550 vs $1400 LifeTank?
