I love Jeff's answer of "Start with the end in mind. Know what you want and then work backwards." I have lived by this advice and give it to so many. Back to question of when pull the trigger on REI (income threshold vs cash threshold), what are your thoughts on the idea of "it takes money to make money"? A lot of syndication deals have high barrier of entry ($50K plus), which a lot of people don't just have sitting around. If they did, they might prefer to use that as a downpayment on a rental property. So how do you advise people to choose between active vs passive in this situation and when to pull the trigger on investing? If you invest $50 into a syndication, you may not see your returns for 3-7+ years, whereas if you buy a rental property, you can start your passive income stream and at least (hopefully) pay the mortgage with the rental income.
