Some fun stats:
100% of the games were won, where the Red Herring was drawn
100% of the games were lost, where the Red Herring was not drawn

Fish is format
Sierkovitz will tell you the math doesn't lie
I don't know if you're telling the truth or not but I know you're using mathology and I don't like it
It's just like Ceramic Fish from Slay the Spire. Fishy harbinger of good runs
Technically not true? He won game 1 after putting the Herring directly into play from Break Out, which means it was not drawn.
Back to back 0-3 without red herring
Trophy with red herring
Draw your own conclusions.

LMAO thats so good.
The format is solved? Am I herring that right?
Unsure if you red that right
Sounds fishy to me to sail the least
xD @@Cephalopopo
Yes sir, you are herring it straight from the Fish mouth 🎉🐟
Let's not be 2 hasty
KENJI GET WRECKED! OMG RED HERRING IS SO OP! DID YOU SEE WHAT IT DID?!?!?!?!
OMG!! RED HERRING!! SO OP!! DID YOU SEE WHAT IT DID?!!
The fish is growing in our hearts 💕
you should probably get that checked out...
believe in the fish
Love the Red Herring thumbnail... your favorite card!
This deck could cut down the mightiest tree in the forest.
Looks like the dragon was the real red herring the whole time
U/W detectives, W/B weenies and Dimir control have all been good through plat.
@1:01:36 oooooh woah, maybe I have just never paid attention but I didn't know Deathtouch + Trample works like that. Your 7/7 didn't do 4 damage to kill their blocker, but only did 1 damage and 6 trample damage. Sick :\
Me neither
Relive the Past was a bomb in my 5 color control deck. There are plenty of artifacts worth jamming and some great uncommon enchantments that hit the yard.
this format has like 2 types of games, either they are complete nongames where you get runover immediately, or genuinely interesting games that take ages and are full of decisions... until one person draws their bomb. That cloaking equipment thingy that cant be interacted with is the most frustratingly annoying card I've played against since the likes of dreamtrawler
37:30 Scapegoat was lethal too. Suspect your thopter
I got 4 Relive the Past in my prerelease sealed pull. Im still pretty traumatized about it
what in the world 😂 That sucks lol sorry
So did you play Gruul or Boros?
@@DanyF02 opened 4 green cards, had to play grixis, most of my cards were red and blue. Almost no white cards either. It was bad I always go for agro at pre releases and has nothing lol
@@Zauzzie Oof, at least that was probably worth a couple weeks of bad luck by itself, you should be okay for a while now!
Going first is broken! Nerf please!
leaving pick 7 shock/galvanize opponents lets you solve the format got it
Fester Leech is the best card (1/1 for 1 black mana, gets +2/+2 for 2 mana once per turn, when it deals damage to an opponent, mill 2 cards).
Drafted 4 of it in the same game and got my 7 wins. Almost milled myself to death with it several times though.
Let's just hope this is all the beginnings of all sets, when the stronger than agro decks and better strats have not yet been found...
I cannot solve this format for the life of me. Every draft I'm lucky if I break even. I'm trying to play things that arent boros (B/R aggro is the closest ive done) but I'm stuck.
*one huge issue I've had is how many early bombs my opponents have, I just feel I'm always behind
just open better cards bro
Imo a good strategy is to go base green or prioritize mana fixing and just pick up the best cards in each pack. It's very easy to build multicolor decks with the fixing in this set
Prioritize card advantage and removal you can pick up your bombs later on. If you're green, prioritize fixing as well.
A good green deck will never run out of gas in this format
Also, impacting the board before disguised creatures are played on turn 3 is huge.
some might say the real red herring were the friends we made along the way
So, what's everyone's take on making a rule change to help with flood and screw? I know there has been ideas floated and things have already happened to help....but let me know what you think....this is quite specific and maybe it's too specific and wordy, but....
If you have LESS THAN 5 lands in play, you can pay 4 or 5 life(whatever # makes the most sense) to go grab a BASIC land from your deck.
If you have AT LEAST 5 lands in play, you can pay 4 or 5 life(whatever # makes the most sense) to discard a land and draw a card.
Yay/Nay? Any changes to something like this to make it better? What does everyone say?
Personally I would like to see lands in one pile and nonlands in another pile. Whenever you draw a card you get to pick which pile to draw from. Firstly this would eliminate mana screwing from the game. Secondly it would greatly reduce how often you need to shuffle as land fetching would no longer require shuffling the rest of your cards. Scry and surveil would make you pick which deck to perform the effect on. Overall I think Magic would be a lot more fun this way. Though honestly I think it would be even better without randomness of any kind-just let players play whatever they want-however this would be too much of a change and would never get accepted.
@@ZeroG I like at least some randomness in most games because otherwise it just becomes chess and there is a clear hierarchy of players...as it is now, someone only been playing for a couple weeks has a chance against anyone in the game in Limited because of the randomness. With that said, I'd like to get rid of "some" of the randomness like I mentioned above, but i don't want to get rid of it all.
What makes analyze the pollen good? I thought tutors were bad in limited
Early game it's cheap color-fixing, late-game it can get your best creature. Tutors are usually bad in limited cuz they cost too much, 1 mana tutors are great
One herring to rule them all
he likes breakout the card most people rated a f
As a bald man i'm jealous! that noggin looks so smooth and round!
It's just a bummer that we've had so many formats like this recently. It's not necessarily bad to have formats that favor aggro decks, but 3 of the last 4 have been curve out on the play or lose. Uninteresting and feels bad.
Fish good. Fish meme
I miss the old mic, this one makes the "S's" so harsh and has horrible peaking
What surprised me most is that there are commons with less then six lines of rule text.
Oh my god the red herring though!!!
90% of the time in this format I end up in naya. And ive been 1-3 and 7-2 with it. Maybe im just a bad drafter though lmao
Everybody Loves the Fish, at least in the comments.

You know Kenji posted this video while muttering "just know in advance....I hate you all..."
Interesting to go with 17 lands instead of 16 in Bo1 with this aggro deck.
Draft 6 mana bomb... never plays it
And still trophies.
Step one: tell everyone how bad red herring is
Step two: profit
How does every set get faster
Because they do not. Phyrexia All Will Be One was the fastest one and has yet to be beat.
@@WoRMaSTeR64 I disagree
You must have missed out on drafting Scars of Mirrodin, or Eventide.
@@WoRMaSTeR64
How is it possible that these players on platinum/diamond don't know the set mechanics?!
My bronze opponents on day 1 always have perfect decks and don't make mistakes
"format solved" ... gets best three packs possible
Format is looking fishy
OP draft
Hahaha, don't go to fancy with gameplay and interactions.😂
Sometimes the deck just plays well🎉
how did we deal 11 damage in the final game ?
shrug, im already sub'ed...
Good draft
Shock > galvanize
You like Jetsam but not Relive the Past? I'm pretty sure Relive is quite a bit better, especially if you have a good amount of surveil. Relive's biggest problem is that it's G/W, but if you're already playing Naya and you're not balls to the wall 2 drop aggro I'd play it every time. It's 2 or 3 5/5's for 7, which is bordering on bomb territory if you can actually get to 7.
the difference is that jetsam/flotsam can always be played early to fill yard, support artifact synergy or just used to draw later. the 2 mana side just does a lot, and the 6 mana side, although worse then relive can still absolutely crush opponents. its the same case where land cyclers in previous set would border on unplayable if it wasnt for the fact their good early and late game
When you play a seven mana card, you want it to function on its own. That's the problem with Relive - seven mana is already a high bar to clear, and Relive requires additional setup beyond that to even be decent, let alone good.
I will wager you have not played at all. Relive the Past is absolute complete unplayable garbage. Not only you have to have these hard to come by card types in your deck and have plenty you also have to get them to grave somehow. Then after that play a 7 mana card and not die in the meantime. That is absolute impossible to accomplish. Just post a video to prove you win even one game with this card and I will be amazed.
Jetsam is 6 mana and is completely self-sufficient bomb. While it will have variance it will be from pretty good to absolutely game winning (better than 3 5/5).
Relive is good in Sealed. I had it with a Conspiracy Unraveler and a couple of Ill-Timed Explosions, it made for a fun 5c goodstuff pile.
@@whiteboysushi How can a card that needs a very specific deck be good in Sealed when the cards you open are random? If anything at least in Draft you can make it happen. Even if it happened to be good in general it is terrible.
I have more 5+ wins than any other ssts

Disgusting deck :\ Wowa
Did you fart at 3:05?
I'm tasty! 😋 Yesss
This is annoying because it demonstrates how annoying aggro decks are in this format.
