Unutterably lovely and very moving. A first class arrangement that never loses sight of the beauty of the melody, performed by what appears to be over a hundred singers and musicians. A real sense of community here also which adds to the impact. Sublime.
if you were born in ireland you are irish. if your parents were born in ireland, and you in america, you are irish-american. if your grandparents were born in ireland, your parents and yourself in america, you are american -irish . I don't know when the IRISH came about this song, or when this song came to spread in america. i don't think my dad ( IRISH-AMERICAN))knew this song until my brother and sisters and ( AMERICAN-IRISH) introduced it to him. After 'Danny Boy" this is quickly becoming the Most-Popular 'irish' Song in America now. Non-irish that happen to hear it for the first time at a gathering are universally floored by it. All My Opinion, but take into consideration I just drank a shot of Paddy while listening.....
Now one of my favorite songs to sing, this is a loving rendition of companionship, life, and love shared in chorus. Thank you uploader srollans where ever you are!
Check out the High Kings version for a more modern arrangment, Liam Clancy's for a more traditional version. If you can find a local Irish bar that's actually an Irish bar you'll be able to hear this at the end of the night
The basic arrangement is by the Wailin' Jennys, with some on-the-fly modifications by our choir director. So, I'm afraid there's no complete sheet music available for this particular version, but the Jennys are a good place to start looking. Good luck!
Does anyone know what arrangement this is? Composer? Link to where I can buy the sheet music, perhaps? This is the arrangement I'd like to perform with my seniors for graduation, but I cannot find this arrangement anywhere! Help, please!
Rich full bodied sound from a massive choir.Lovely soloist.Great acoustics.Pity the orchestra lurched about in places ...Too much of the parting glass?
Hi, i've been trying to post the link for the arrangements but it won't allow me to post web addresses. Google seoltamusic and the song you're looking for is THE PARTING GLASS. Very best of luck with the graduation.
What a sound! A performance that makes my skin shudder...
Brings tears to the eyes. Heavenly.

Very nice. We (Mayo Male Voice Choir) sing the Thomas Juneau arrangement but I love this one with the band.
@looneytoohey It's partially based on the Wailing Jennys' arrangement and partly based on the High Kings' arrangement. I hope that helps! :)
