  • Functions of File Menu in Photoshop
(Photoshop Mein File Menu Ke Kaam)
The options we are going to study in this video are New, Open, Browse in Bridge, Open As, Open as Smart Object, Open Recent, Close, Close All, Close Others, Close and Go to Bridge, Save, Save As, Save a Copy, Revert.
NEW (Ctrl + N): This option is used to create a new Photoshop document or file with PSD extension.
OPEN (Ctrl + O): The second command given in the File Menu is referred as Open. This command is used to open a required image file in Photoshop.
BROWSE IN BRIDGE (Alt + Ctrl + O): The Bridge window displays a variety of info about your images in collapsible panels. Bridge displays its contents as thumbnails in the Content panel in the middle of the window.
OPEN AS (Alt + Shift + Ctrl + O): This command is used to open a required image file with specified file format in Photoshop.
OPEN AS SMART OBJECT: Photoshop Smart Object is never let lose the quality of any vector object or an image, even if we rescale or resample it or change its position or rotate it however we want in our document.
OPEN RECENT: This option helps to look for recently modified files for further modification.
CLOSE (CTRL + W): This option is used to close an open document in Photoshop. This option is very rarely used by Photoshop users.
CLOSE ALL (Alt + CTRL + W): This option is used to close all open document in Photoshop.
CLOSE OTHERS (Alt + CTRL + P): In this, except the present file, all the other open files are closed.
CLOSE AND GO TO BRIDGE (Shift + CTRL + W): The file is closed and the bridge opens, from where we can find and open any file.
SAVE (CTRL + S): This option is used to save any document created or modified on Photoshop in any required format.
SAVE AS (CTRL + SHIFT + S): If you want to save an image file two or more than two times with two or more than two different names or formats you can use the option named Save As.
SAVE A COPY (ALT + CTRL + S): Save a Copy automatically creates a copy of your work and allows you to export and share in your desired file format like JPEG, EPS, and so on, without overwriting the original file and protecting your data in the process
REVERT (F12): When things go wrong, sometimes the best option is to simply “revert” the file by selecting Revert from the File menu, or by pressing f12. This will undo any changes that you've made, and bring back your file to the way it was when you first opened it (or the last time it was saved).
