About 100 Days My Prince (백일의 낭군님):
A political coup sees Lee Yul (D.O.) become a somewhat reluctant Crown Prince of Korea - after his uncle is disposed to make way on the throne for his father.
His father’s cruelty and the death of his mother have left him emotionally scarred, although most of the court think he is cold and aloof.
As part of his duties, he issues an edict that forces all of the throne’s subjects to marry before they turn 28.
One woman struggling to stay on the right side of the new law is villager Hong Shim (Nam Ji Hyun), a woman with a secret identity even she is not fully aware of.
Hong Shim works tirelessly in her village to support her ailing father. A bizarre twist of fate brings her together with the prince whose edict is burdening her so much, unaware that their paths have actually crossed once before…
While on his way to an official function, Lee Yul’s party is attacked in an ambush while passing through the village. His life is only saved by a quick-thinking official, who dresses the Crown Prince in peasant garb. Regardless, Lee Yul is struck by an arrow and hits his head, falling unconscious.
When he awakes, Lee Yul finds himself in Hong Shim’s house. Unaware of who he is, she and her father treat his wounds. The attack has left him with memory loss, and - taking him for an unmarried commoner - the villagers wonder if he could possibly marry Hong Shim, saving her from her predicament, unaware of his true identity.
Will anyone ever discover Lee Yul’s true identity? Will he ever regain his memory? Will Hong Shim and Lee Yul recall the time they met before these events, many years ago? And can a royal prince really find true love with a common villager?

This was the first historical drama I have ever enjoyed. The chemistry between Nam Ji Hyun and Do Kyung Soo is to die for. And Do Kyung Soo's acting is amazing! Fell in love with him in this drama

I have watched it four times now. It is my favorite and the acting by Nam Ji Hyun and Do Kyung Soo is suburb. The entire cast is great. I'm a Joseon Korean drama addict!

Very underrated. I often rewatch this when there’s nothing new of this quality.
Is it really underrated? Others who have an eye for this kind of oustanding work of artistry couldn't praise enough the acting of the leads tho.
Plus, the four leads are now being recognized. Han So Hee, Kim Seon Ho, Nam Ji Hyun, Doh Kyungsoo. They are in their great places now in the industry.

I had high expectations with this drama but story is extremely weak .I watched it for all the actors. They are good at their work.

I'm watching it again for the third time. I love all the actors. But the one thing that distracted me from the first time until now is the casting of the female lead. They don't match. D.O. is the cutest man but Ji Hyun is not very feminine. She has a strong jaw that makes her look older than she is. She seems to dominate over him, not just in the writing but physically. The Crown Princess and the gisaeng were both very pretty, feminine, and suitable for the lead. I don't know what they were going for when they cast Ji Hyun but it doesn't work for me and I would have enjoyed the series so much more if they hadn't cast her. When there is romantic interaction between D.O. and Ji Hyun, its cringey. It doesn't work. I know what it is...not only does she look like his older sister or even his mother...she's written that way too.
I respect your view. We all see with different eyes. But I myself found them to be a great match, and her strong personality seemed a logical part of the story. The Crown Prince says it many times that she doesn't look like his typical ideal woman in terms of physical appearance. But it's her intelligence, bravery and compassion that makes him fall in love with her. For me it was refreshing to see a clever and independant female lead, and Ji Hyun portrayed that perfectly.
@@luxgemini8931 I see your pov. But, in terms of refreshing, it seems to me that in nearly all instances the female lead is intelligent, brave, compassionate, in charge. I don't find that refreshing but rather redundant and disappointing. Occasionally they're not but usually they are. D.O. is a sweetie and I just don't like that he was bullied, though it does seem to be common for Korean females to be written as bullies and/or fighters who eat like pigs...lol. I am female myself.

I can agree that D.O. is a sweetie, but when did you think Won Deuk/Crown Prince was getting bullied? Could you give me an example of a scene, so I can have a rewatch? It never crossed my mind to think so when I first saw it.
@@luxgemini8931 Remember, even as children she called him a"stupid idiot." As adults, she was constantly running him down, emasculating him, pushing him to do what she wanted. Remember when she found out that he was literate, even she realized she'd been bullying him to excel in a direction he wasn't suited for. All of this was offensive to me and made her seem like a hard to please mother or teacher. When they would show a close-up where they were about to kiss, it was cringeworthy because it was like kissing his mother. I felt sorry for him.

In contrast, I found it reasonable for her to call him a stupid idiot the first time they met because of the way he behaved with the other kids, and it inspired him to become a better person. Later, after he lost his memories, I always interpreted it in a humorous way. Anyway, happy to know a fellow fan of 100DMP. Thank you for taking the time to explain your thoughts :)
