There’s a trend I noticed where there are certain developers who before putting their biggest games on Switch they’ll port a smaller game first to make sure they can translate the engine and those ones almost always end up with ports like this. Crytek has done it, these guys with Chronos From the Ashes, Square Enix and many more. I appreciate these devs who put the effort in to really learn the hardware and fine tune their ports for it.
Incredible game and i had a lot of fun playing it with a friend 3 years ago. Looking forward to Remnant 2. Glad Switch players can experience it as well now!

Genuinely one of the best co-op experiences you can have, especially with friends. Rpg fans will also find tons of build variety to be had once you start unlocking skills.
And from the Ashes, another developer has unlocked the secret to porting a game and having it run well on the Switch. I may wait on the physical, but it's a definite add to the Wish List for me.
I hope this practice of putting ALL THE GAME ON THE CARTRIDGE continues (I hate that cartridge versions don't include everything a lot of the time, it makes the cartridge version worthless) and no i'm not shutting up about this until developers make this a standard practice :)
I have already played and completed this game on PS4. If you have never played it, and you like souls like games or would like to try the souls like genre. Give this a try. The range combat is fantastic. The bosses are tough but not unfair. And it's not a super long experience. I won't be buying this since I already completed it, but I do highly recommend it.

Something worth noting that I don't think you brought up, areas are shuffled and drawn from with each play through, which potentially means different weapons and perks, so you can join someone else game and if they have a different seed to you, you can get different gear from their run
Between the camera angle and build diversity this game reminded me of a combination of Mass Effect 3 Online and Resident Evil 5. The guns are percussive and interesting as hell. The game rewards trying EVERYTHING. A solid game all around but a 10/10 for me and my friends either solo or coop. Glad THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games brought this to this platform too.
If you never played it, this is a very great game that I've spent a lot of time on. And just like the great reviewer said, the survival alone will suck you in. Feel free to ask any questions

I have this on PS4. It's a pretty good game and really surprised me with its depth and gameplay. I'm glad more people will get a chance to play it. It's good when developers actually take their time with Switch ports and don't just throw a bad product on the system. I was worried this port was going to be rough. Like you mentioned, it wasn't exactly the smoothest on PS4. But this looks solid and feels like the perfect place to play. I do love a good Switch port. Been playing it since this morning (physical copy), and I'm very satisfied with how it runs... But disappointed by the lack of gyro aim. I had faith it would be good, the prequel was a good game, and THQ generally delivers very decent ports.
Yep, it's a shame that all shooter don't get the gyro option. When it's well done (Breath of the wild is maybe the best), it helps so much. Makes the game so much pleasant to play.

If you haven't played it and want to play on Switch, it's well worth the price. I do play slow it seems, but it took my brother and I probably 40 hours to complete the base game, exploring everything...not going back where we've been, just not missing stuff as we went. I don't know where 15-20 comes from, but yeah...way way longer for me...and I understand this includes 2 dlc story expansions, tho I'm not sure how long those are as we got distracted after buying for ps4 and never got back to play those parts.
Review speed is a bit of a joke. You end up almost speed running the game. It's much better taking things slow. I also live souls games so this was pretty easy to blast through. Mark

Such a great game, I stumbled upon it when it was free back on PS Plus and had never heard of it before. Sunk many hours into it and the DLC getting all achievements, weapons and armour etc. Very fun game with great customisation and builds with good synergy depending on how you want to play. Would definitely recommend for anyone into looter shooters and will be buying this again
This game was amazing on the PS4, it had so many cool weapons and boss fights. Playing in co-op was really fun as well! Man if this is a good port I’ll double dip easily and get my friends to play again hopefully.
@@AxLWake to me heck yeah it’s that good. I beat it by myself, beat it with friends, beat it with strangers online. There are some really cool weapons and mods to mess with so it never feels the same. Combat is a lot of fun and the pacing is really good. Some of the most fun co-op sessions I’ve had in the past.
As a switch OLED owner who's not a fan of Nintendo first party games, until I get a steam deck, I want to say thank you to third party developers who give us games like this which are specially optimized for the switch.
I can't wait for this game! Preorder as soon as I could also for those interested I bought the first game in the series Chronos Before the ashes. Swords and sheilds and age a year after every death. I found it a great game even tho it was a V.R game first then made to 3rd person.
Fyi. Assuming it’s the same. Enemies scale off your gear level. You can get yourself stuck if you level one thing up and reroll your game. There’s a lot of articles out there on how to level and farm rare equipment.

This game is such an amazing hidden gem, spent 100s of hours playing it on the PC and its great to see it being brought up more and more in expectation for the sequel. Hunting down all the gear is a but rough on consoles compared to PC tools, but that doesn't detract from the overall experience much. Original launch was a bit rough, but the 2 DLC really brought so much to the experience, this game is well worth your time. 2 looks to be even better.
I'll pick it up when it's on sale. Thanks to you guy, I have about 20+ games on my switch that I have not touched yet lol. Can't keep adding to the backlog, especially at full price. Great review as per usual!!
I would definitely pick this up as a physical sale. My only gripe as I’ve recently picked up the Xbox series S is I can play all the Gears Of War and Outriders on game pass. It will be hard going back to something like this after playing Outriders but the main selling point for me is I can play Remnant in the palm of my hands. It still blows my mind now how the devs manage to get games like this onto the switch. Great review.
This was my COVID 19 lockdown game and I cannot recommend it enough. Played it for 200hrs or so, and enjoyed every minute of it. Even considering getting it a 3rd time on switch. One of my favourite shooter games, with a dark souls twist 👌

Ah the relief that the port ended up great, since i refrained from playing this for Xbox on "switch hope" lol. I preloaded yesterday & holding out that it miraculously unlocks at midnight instead of 3am🤞
If everything is going digital later, which worries me tremendously, I'll be focusing on offline physically released games, this port is definitely fantastic and I'm wondering what big port they'll do next, I'd love to see something like First Solis or Alone in the Dark ported to the switch, and dispute the Critics Valkyrie Elysium I think would make a great port on the Switch, it's a fun romp with a short mission based structure, but that combo mechanic I think is well done especially with LVL'ed up magic, I think that's got impressive particle effects, anyway I've waffled enough, have a great day and thankyou for your review on this
Game is absolutely addictive and awesome on ps4...I'm currently waiting for the sequel which looks amazing, for my ps5. I may pick this up to play solo while I wait, since I played previously with my brother. You can have up to 3 co op, including yourself. Some games, even if I finished before, are just cool as hell to be able to play in handheld. I highly recommend. It's unique right away, with a dark ambient setting, and gets better and better as you play deeper and learn more and more lore. It's VERY challenging, especially some bosses.
I feel like the trouble with this game as with a lot of other games that come to Switch after being on other platforms is that so much time has pass that this game is in the Free games lists from places like Epic and humble. In fact I got it free last year(Only the base game). Saying that, I loved it and it could possibly get my money in a sale so I can play through the DLC. Great Video as usual!
I'm actually kinda shocked that it ported over well. Hopefully the online component also does really well and stays strong. I had a lot of fun when I played this one.
Whoever didn't play this game I recommend it wholeheartedly. Platinumed it on play station and I regret not buying it on release. Remnant 2 is coming out winter time and I recommend everyone to go support developer.

I did the first few hours on the ps4 version a year or so back. I really enjoyed it, then found out it was coming to switch.... I stopped the PS4 version and waited until now for the physical switch copy, as I knew I would enjoy it more on switch. This along with the physical of mortal shell in April are probably my most looked forward to games this year.
Christ I can't wait...been checking if playable yet every damn hour since midnight. Literally can't sleep I'm so excited to play this handheld and hopefully get in some nice co op group battle/tactical boss fighting!
I just ordered this! Visually it looks really great! I have been looking for a new series to get into & the 2nd one will come out soon. Most likely on the next Switches hardware. Update for Switch* No matter what I do I get put into Adventure with no story or anything. I switched it but theres still been 0 cutscenes. So im confused cause Idk what the games even about🤷🏼

I LOOOOVE this game and have played through multiple times on Xbox and PlayStation, but there is no way I’m playing it on my Switch. If this is the only console you own, I would highly recommend. The gunplay is so fun. I can’t wait for the sequel. Definitely going to play as the character with the dog.
I owned and beat this solo on the ps4, then beat it again when I cooped it. Both experiences were fantastic. Especially if you know one or two things others don't, you'll have a good laugh with your friends.
I'm super excited to pick up my copy tomorrow and seeing your review so far I'm happy I took the dive to pre order one of my favorite games for switch :)
Although, I do own this game on xbox, I've got to say that such valiant efforts of ports on Switch should be rewarded, so I bought it again. Currently, the Switch is more suitable for my lifestyle (which is to say I'm a dad with two kids at home 😂), so it should be great to play on handheld and enjoy its unique ambient atmosphere. While I do not plan on getting this for the Switch, I can say I have it for PC and have played a LOT of it. Worth the price, and multiplayer is the way to go for sure.
I've enjoyed the game so far for 15+ hours. However, I'm in an area where the enemies are literally invincible. My guns and melee don't register any hits. I can't progress at the moment which is quite a bummer. :(

Gunfire really doesn’t get enough credit for their dev talent. I played over 100 hours on steam and this game runs so so well on switch.

I would definitely pick this up as a physical sale. My only gripe as I’ve recently picked up the Xbox series S is I can play all the Gears Of War and Outriders on game pass. It will be hard going back to something like this after playing Outriders but the main selling point for me is I can play Remnant in the palm of my hands. It still blows my mind now how the devs manage to get games like this onto the switch. Great review.

This was my COVID 19 lockdown game and I cannot recommend it enough. Played it for 200hrs or so, and enjoyed every minute of it. Even considering getting it a 3rd time on switch. One of my favourite shooter games, with a dark souls twist 👌

Ah the relief that the port ended up great, since i refrained from playing this for Xbox on "switch hope" lol. I preloaded yesterday & holding out that it miraculously unlocks at midnight instead of 3am🤞

If everything is going digital later, which worries me tremendously, I'll be focusing on offline physically released games, this port is definitely fantastic and I'm wondering what big port they'll do next, I'd love to see something like First Solis or Alone in the Dark ported to the switch, and dispute the Critics Valkyrie Elysium I think would make a great port on the Switch, it's a fun romp with a short mission based structure, but that combo mechanic I think is well done especially with LVL'ed up magic, I think that's got impressive particle effects, anyway I've waffled enough, have a great day and thankyou for your review on this
Game is absolutely addictive and awesome on ps4...I'm currently waiting for the sequel which looks amazing, for my ps5. I may pick this up to play solo while I wait, since I played previously with my brother. You can have up to 3 co op, including yourself.
Some games, even if I finished before, are just cool as hell to be able to play in handheld.
I highly recommend. It's unique right away, with a dark ambient setting, and gets better and better as you play deeper and learn more and more lore. It's VERY challenging, especially some bosses.
I feel like the trouble with this game as with a lot of other games that come to Switch after being on other platforms is that so much time has pass that this game is in the Free games lists from places like Epic and humble. In fact I got it free last year(Only the base game). Saying that, I loved it and it could possibly get my money in a sale so I can play through the DLC.

I really liked playing coop with a friend on this game. The setting was also interesting, it reminded me to The dark tower series of books somehow.
Looks pretty solid. Not my type of genre anymore, but the port looks good from my naked eyes.
My most favorite "soulslike shooter" ever has switch version. Feels like I'm dreaming. I played this a lot on PC.
I'm actually kinda shocked that it ported over well. Hopefully the online component also does really well and stays strong. I had a lot of fun when I played this one.
My physical copy came through the door and hour ago, very much looking forward to enjoying the hell outta it :-)

Whoever didn't play this game I recommend it wholeheartedly. Platinumed it on play station and I regret not buying it on release. Remnant 2 is coming out winter time and I recommend everyone to go support developer.
Yeah but the developers left us in the dust, there's a lot of bugs out there and luckily somebody patched them all up, unfortunately it wasn't the dev

Just picked this up. Great so far and the load times really aren't that bad.
I did the first few hours on the ps4 version a year or so back. I really enjoyed it, then found out it was coming to switch.... I stopped the PS4 version and waited until now for the physical switch copy, as I knew I would enjoy it more on switch. This along with the physical of mortal shell in April are probably my most looked forward to games this year.
Christ I can't wait...been checking if playable yet every damn hour since midnight. Literally can't sleep I'm so excited to play this handheld and hopefully get in some nice co op group battle/tactical boss fighting!
I just ordered this! Visually it looks really great! I have been looking for a new series to get into & the 2nd one will come out soon. Most likely on the next Switches hardware.

No matter what I do I get put into Adventure with no story or anything. I switched it but theres still been 0 cutscenes. So im confused cause Idk what the games even about🤷🏼

I LOOOOVE this game and have played through multiple times on Xbox and PlayStation, but there is no way I’m playing it on my Switch. If this is the only console you own, I would highly recommend. The gunplay is so fun. I can’t wait for the sequel. Definitely going to play as the character with the dog.
I gotta play this game. I only have a Switch at the moment and really miss playing Bloodborne. This could feed that feeling I have for a challenge.
I owned and beat this solo on the ps4, then beat it again when I cooped it. Both experiences were fantastic. Especially if you know one or two things others don't, you'll have a good laugh with your friends.
I'm glad games like this make it over to the Switch for gamers who can't experience them elsewhere.

Although, I do own this game on xbox, I've got to say that such valiant efforts of ports on Switch should be rewarded, so I bought it again. Currently, the Switch is more suitable for my lifestyle (which is to say I'm a dad with two kids at home 😂), so it should be great to play on handheld and enjoy its unique ambient atmosphere. While I do not plan on getting this for the Switch, I can say I have it for PC and have played a LOT of it. Worth the price, and multiplayer is the way to go for sure.

I've enjoyed the game so far for 15+ hours. However, I'm in an area where the enemies are literally invincible. My guns and melee don't register any hits. I can't progress at the moment which is quite a bummer. :(
