Charlie is just a really refreshing and amazing guy. Just wildly talented as a guitarist, singer and writer, but to me he just seems like a great guy with a deep soul. Blackberry Smoke oozes his deep soul and down-to-earth ethos, which is such a rare quality today. I just saw them live again the other night in St. Augustine, FL and boy they still brought it! Thanks Charlie and the Boys!
Don't "lose the magic" Charlie. Delightful interview with a genius guitar player, singer and writer of beautiful songs. Thanks for the autograph in Tacoma, WA for Dig a Hole. What an incredible human being. Thank you Guitar Interactive Magazine for this clip.
Charlie so relaxed; in shorts! Fell asleep from jet lag. Oh my! Re-watching this great interview. Thanks again Jonathan Graham and Guitar Interactive Magazine. Charlie is the real deal. He's magic. Blackberry Smoke are magical and it's a band you want to see live. Full throttle live shows or acoustic shows are also brilliant! Don't miss the Smoke.
Jonathan, imagine you know but: RIP Brit Turner... damn we will miss Brit beyond belief. 3 March 2024. Tears as I write. Blackberry Smoke's beloved drummer has passed on. So so so sad. Hope you'll have a word about him and BBS. Such a good interview as I've posted before. Thank you. Best from France.
I love a band that is still simple like a bar band when they get famous and this is what I see in Charlie. My Dad was a simple man and that is why I loved him so much. I am old now and miss playing so much. Bless you Charlie and the Band.
Thankful that I discovered BBS on a Kid Rock cruise in about 2012. Was able to meet and talk to Charlie, Britt and Paul briefly on a few different occasions since. They were all so down to earth, and cool dudes!
Just saw them in Tennessee last week ! Can't believe I've just gotten into them this year. I feel cheated of all the times I could have seen them over 20 years.
Charlie ... I just wanna know sumpthin .... Where do you find / buy your vintage bell bottom blue jeanz ?!?! I wore em in the 70's man i loved em !!! Cant find em any more .... Just wonderin lol
Would love to see Charlie do some writing and playing guitar with Billy Strings. They are my two favorite songwriters and 2 of a shortlist guitar players
He’s just got that Southern “thing” about him. You Yanks are lucky in that respect, you don’t have to try and sound rock n roll coz it’s already in you. Only England could produce The Smiths or The Clash, and only the US can produce dudes like this….he’s cool as fuck!
Great interview, Charlie Starr is a great songwriter, and together with Blackberry Smoke, every album and every show are fantastic.
The most underrated guitarrist I know. Great artist!
I would say
"southern musician"
guitar, vocals, various and creative songwriting
Saw Charlie and the boys last night in St Augustine Fl! Epic show, love this man and his phenomenal band. If you haven’t seen them live find a show..
Just discovered Blackberry Smoke. What a band!
me too, how did I not hear about them before?!

Probably the best, most informative Interview I've watched.
Love Charlie and the interviewer was great!

His writing with Travis Meadows , the Whipporwill was amazing
Rest in peace Brit. Prayers for Charlie and the band.

One Horse Town was the tune that I connected with.

Charlie reminds me of the Cheyenne medicine man I spent 2 years going to ceremony with
He's a right nice feller
Old 70 bands live together and made the songs together not with technology but each person in the band do their parts.
I'm lost... where is the cellphone?

@@shayh.3556 I’m a huge fan of both and didn’t know that. Any clues to where I can find it??
