I have to stick up for Billy. Almost all written accounts of his looks by people who knew him said he was fairly good looking, with even features, blue eyes, and slightly bucked teeth. The famous tintype was said to be a very poor picture of him. Enjoyed your video very much tho! Thank you.
In a nutshell Henry McCarty, his mother, and maybe a brother/cousin showed up in Silver City indirectly from NYC when he was about 13. The mother married a dead beat miner and supported the family doing laundry and running a boarding house. At some point the husband leaves and she dies from tuberculosis, the boys are farmed out to friends and eventually go their separate ways. The now named Billy falls in with the wrong crowd and commits petty crimes. Young Billy probably did kill men who may or may not have deserved it. He was now a man (boy) on the run and was befriended by an entrepreneur from England named Tunstall who was later murderer by a competitor. Billy and friends took revenge on the killers and vice versa that became part of what we call the Lincoln County War. Billy was eventually captured. While awaiting trial he killed two jailers and escaped. Pat Garrett a sheriff and maybe a friend to Billy eventually tracked him down at a girl friends house and the rest is history!!! Some have suggested Billys death was staged , Garrett got the credit for killing him and Billy disappears into the wild young state of Texas! Of course their are many versions of this story! Billys biological father is unknown and is thought to have died sometime before the family arrival in Silver City
Totally NOT BORING! Ive watched this video at least 5 times, or more. I love history, and Brandon Dixon was SO interesting and knowledgeable. Please do more of history with "guest" speakers., where ever you go. Thanks, Rusty.
My buddy and I took a tour there in 1996. It was one of THE BEST guided tours that I've ever done!! The tour guide we had was awesome!! With the information he gave us, it seemed like he did pain-staking research. It would tell about the way a building sat, ex. the McSween house and where the pit was that they made to keep prisoners. It was great!!!
Rusty, the story of Billy The Kid is really interesting. Apparently you were in a hurry. That poor guide had to jump back and forth in the story, you didn't get half of the story.
So, Billy the Kidd had multiple escapes locked up. Considering the cost of food and fuel these days and the cost of housing, staying locked up with a roof over my head and meals provided would tempt me to stay a little while!
Hi Rusty an Brandon I think you both done a excellent job giveing that there was outside sounds along with your interview. Rusty you have always done awesome. And please continue on as you do. I am very hard hearing. An I heard yall just fine. Unless a vehicle came by or truck. I love that you are just you. So thank you both for inspiring me to hopefully one day be able to visit there. THANK YOU MY FRIEND!!!!!
Just visited Lincoln last week. It was raining something fierce. It really added to the experience. Such a great place to visit. Thanks for the video Rusty!
Great video Rusty and Brandon. How awesome! Rusty volume problems happen to everyone. We’ve had issues with some of our videos as well. Keep up the great content! We are long time followers. 👍
The tour guide was excellent, although I can't say the same thing about the tourist. He needed to let the guide do his job, and not try to do it for him.
The puppy is just adorable! Got me by my heart, wrapped around all four paws! 😁😁😁❤️❤️❤️ Sorry, but I hate to disappoint those “in the know” about Billy History, but he was indeed married, with four children. I have all the family records. I am Cousin to both Billy and his Wife. I still stay in contact with the Grandkids. By 1877, Billy and his Wife had been married 7 years, and already had home and family.
This is a good video. Of course, Rusty could have done a painfully long video with a complete thorough tour, but that isn't the point. Rusty was giving us a good sampling of the tour. Go pick up a book if you want the full Billy the Kid story or go take the tour. Do something. Don't expect Rusty to live your life for you. He's sharing things and ideas for you to try out or look into yourself.
@@rusty78609 Yeah, it was a little off, but you captured his presentation great for doing it on the fly. This dude has really researched the event(s) and gives a unique perspective of it. I enjoyed it.
That very unclear picture was not indicative of his looks. I hardly think he was ugly as a mud fence lol. Albeit he didn't have anything on Elvis with his looks haha

Licoln was so NOT the most dangerous street in America in the 1870s, the most dangerous street by historian facts was the town of El Paso Texas, namely El Paso street.
I noticed the tour guide has a service dog, If he is a Veteran a Big Thank You for your service to our free country!

Terrible volume on this one. Don't like complaining but someone needs to let ya kno. Might as well be me.

Let the man give YOU the tour. "youre the boss" is right. Let him TALK.

Thanks for the tour Rusty and Brandon, that was a great tour! Loved it!
Dang. Wish I could have heard what you were saying to each other. Love hearing about history.

There’s a new series on EPIX about Billy the Kid
I loved this. Great history lesson. I am planning going that direction next June. I'll have to look him up. Thanks!🙂
Wonderful! thank you I love history. :)

Cap cap cap oh and a few lies on lies
You claim to be psychic and an outlaw that saw big foot yeah? You look exactly like that sort of person should you are nuttier than a bag of nuts
Audio is barely legible Rusty, fascinated by the history, but could not hear the Tour Guide's wonderful storytelling...
I didn't know they were doing guided tours again. The last couple of times that I've been there, it was a self-guided tour.
Excellent video Rusty! Seems like quite a knowledgeable and quality Gent 👍👍
Hi Rusty .im billy Fernandez..from Carrizozo
hi

I wonder if Billy the kid had a favorite between plywood or osb .
He once shot a man for calling his tiny home a shed.
@@Sedden_Terry 😄
This would have been great with audio.
I'll be taking this tour in November.
😀thanks for the tour👍👍🇺🇸
You bet
👍👍 Very interesting. Thank you sir.
Glad you enjoyed it

Could you ask him about THE Baldwin cowboys....
Is the bar open
I could hear everything just fine.
Would of been better if u just let the man speak

This is awesome history yes the volume is a little up and down but there's not much he can do about it just watch the video enjoy the history
Great video
Darn it, 30 seconds I'll never get back. Need a better phone.
Hi Rusty 👍
Hello 👋
My friend in a bar there ..shot a picture ..shot billythakid in the head at the picture ..his name is Danny Narvaez from Carrizozo
Cool video talk Rusty lol
Rusty you need a better mic ,maybe a remote for the persons you interview. Sound quality not good.keep it in mind.

I might have missed it. Is Billy the Kid buried in Hico, TX or in New Mexico? Or someplace else?
Fort Sumner Cemetary N.M.

@@hookem7030 Brushy Bill Robert's was born in 1879. Lincoln County War was in 1878. Haha, Brushy Bill wasn't even born yet.
Rusty knows sod all about billy the kid 😂
Noticed sound out of sinc with picture. Strange. Yes, volume low but just max out sound, heard OK.
Maybe good story ,if I could hear the story , oh well I guess it was a good try 😥😴
The audio is terrible
I know...

Personally.....your tour guide didn't no sh💩t. I wouldn't recommend him as a tour guide.
