I was so glad he went back to using the Modulus live by the time they got to Australia when I saw them in 07'. I've seen several concerts where he pulled off pretty awesome distortion solos using the Jazz. They were more Bootsy Collins-esque (much more smooth) than his usual BOOM style though. The only thing he couldnt do with the Jazz was use the Q-Tron LIVE. It sounded horrible. Studio it was fine though. Interesting.
@ilovestacks34 I guess Fender is a love it or hate it thing... although Im not sure what one could dislike about them. I have a Modulus Flea, two Ernie Balls, a Rick... and guess which bass I always come crawling back to? My American Deluxe Jazz. Such an amazing instrument. But I guess its just a matter of personal taste.
Its called years of practice, good timing and dexterity. Its actually not that hard to do if you spend enough time trying it. Whats crazy though is he prolly pulled that off on the first take in a jam session.
@bassplaya2008 how long do you play bass? its just training and everyday repeat... at my first slapping my fingers where like exploiding too...so i tryd oftener and softer im still bad in slapping but my "stamina" increased alot just doing training :D sry 4 bad english =/
is flea playing the main riff slightly different? i can hear clearly the 2 notes in the higher octaves, but can't hear the 2 bass notes.. it seems that he plays only one bass note..
although a gd bass player i don't think that shows his skill, i think that just happenes when you learn to slap and pop, i don't play bass but pretty sure that the bassist in my band was showing us his blisters from learning to pop and slap. i can't rember though, was ages ago.
2:02 minutes of pure awesomness
i love the beginning :D everyone's booing, and then they start rocking :D
