It's interesting to see well dressed and well behaved shoppers at this Moscow shopping center. In U.S. states like California, shopping malls are in decline and stores are closing primarily because of theft and crime. Crime was so bad at the Arden Fair Mall in California's capitol city of Sacramento that the mall banned unaccompanied youth and teenagers from entering it because of theft and gang fights that resulted in stabbings and shootings.

Best wishes for a happy peaceful prosperous New Year 2025 for Russell and dear wife ! Thanks for sharing another western owned shopping centre in Russia. It is pleasing that they are free of seizing acts. Russia is a most peaceful country.
I like this supermarket a lot. I can buy anything I want. And what I like is that they always have some seasonal staff section. When it's summer they place pools, tents and event camp stuff. During winter they place winter tires for cars, liquids to defreez car mirrows or car/home locks. You can always come to one place and get whatever goods you urgently need. And their restaurants inside the supermarket are gorgeous. Very tasty food and much cheeper than in any restaurant. Last but not the least they have service to pack a bag with products from your order and leave in a box for you. You just order online and collect the ready bag at the box not wasting any time for going around the supermarket.

Strange to see how busy it is and listen to the video with all the western Christmas music in the background. I have never seen a grocery store this busy in Canada before.
Your expression is very strange about music. What does Western music mean? And what kind of culture are the Russian people part of? If we Russians do not obey the United States and conduct our foreign policy (simply because we can afford it), then we are the East and we need to listen to Arabic or Asian music? You should think about how to get rid of the propaganda in your head that has been hammered into you since childhood.
That's not it at all. :) Here in the USA, and probably Canada, we just don't have something like Russian, or Swedish, or any other culture very prevalent in our daily lives.
Such a wonderful shopping center here we call it a grocery store. I shop for groceries every two weeks most of the time. One in awhile I'll run to the store out of something. Thank you for another wonderful video and Happy New Year 🎊
Wow..lots of people there today. Love all the cheeses. My favorite any smoked cheese 🧀 . I wonder how a Globus store would do in the US? Thanks Russell. Enjoyed this very much.😊😊😊. I go to a Walmart once a week on Friday.
Too much fresh healthy food, if i compare it against Walmart. )) Which i know its the pinnacle of American supermarkets. This store has a lot of cheeses. Also one of my wife's favorite foods. Cheese.
I'm so jealous! I could write volumes about the disgusting state of the food here in the US especially baked goods, nothing made fresh on the premises with real ingredients it's all prepackage from corporations full of seed oils, high fructose and chemicals. Very little taste or nutritional value and that goes for most of the food, even fresh vegetables that are genetically modified. Seeing an entire department of a variety of smoked fish in this store made my jaw drop! I love smoked fish but it is impossible to find, if you're lucky you may find a couple of neglected packages of smoked salmon in the corner of the meat section with one small piece of salmon for $10.00 -$12.00 and that's it. I have taken to buying a lot of foreign products to try and avoid the high fructose and other chemicals.
It is a pity that in the USA they do not care about the quality of products. Many of my friends say that they began to recover, even staying on tourist trips for a short time. Of course, I'm not talking about the rich, who can afford expensive restaurants with great food.
I love your videos. In America we have shopping carts. Al stores also have electric shopping carts for the handicapped. You can drive them out to your car when you are finished.
I saw the drive around ones in Walmart's in America. My last cruise ship contract was sailing out of Galveston, Texas. So, Seawall Blvd Walmart was our weekly store visit for a lot of the crew.
This is a walkaround of the local food market where my wife prefers to shop. Very typical, and literally every town in Russia has a place like this. ua-cam.com/video/akCdWSzsFWE/v-deo.html

How popular is food shopping for delivery online Russell? What I've found stunning in Russia is the abundance of food, fruits, and veg. Exotic fruits, Wine, fish etc. Most innovation indeed happens through necessity, and Russia seems to be doing that in Agriculture, Tech, AI, Art, through incentives, and subsidies for entrepreneurs and small businesses. The exit of Western goods seems to have sparked competition internally with new opportunities! To a certain extent it resembles how the Soviet Union excelled in development. Get the feeling they're following similar model to the Chinese now!
Online delivery is EXTREMELY popular in Russia... For example, I don't buy food in grocery stores at all, only online with home delivery directly from the grocery store. I only go to grocery stores to buy cigarettes and alcohol.....
@@Sergey_Bezhentsev I'm from London myself and its the same here! IMO to the detrement of small farmers, markets, and good fresh food though! Online shopping convenience is like a drug and sometimes at the expense of quality! Happy you new year to all the folk in Russia🫡
@@GManzi673 Thank you and Happy New Year to you!!! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 Yeah, you're right. For some products, of course, I prefer to choose my own. And so I prefer to buy fresh meat and fresh vegetables not in grocery stores, but at markets. Thank goodness there are plenty of markets in Moscow, unlike, for example, in New York, where I used to live....
The revenue quota of online food shopping in Russia is about 4%. E.g. in Austria it is 3%, in Finland or Netherlands significant more. Russia has a long way to go to achieve the quality of imported seeds. Still now the domestic seeds are of poor quality. You will forgive me, but what you write does make sense only for russian companies. Without competititors from the West russian companies can sell their products more expensively and of poor quality. This is a low of the market, the consumer is the looser.
@@tarifkunde Come on now, the Netherlands is like the Rolls Royce of agricultural farming! The third largest exporter after the US and Brazil I believe? A standard that is difficult for anyone to achieve! When it comes to quality I probably meant concerning local farming and markets which seem to be very prevalent within Russia. I am from London and am stunned by the quantity and what looks like the quality of fresh foods I see on the shelves in Russia! Open disclaimer I've never visited Russia so am just going off bits of research I've done out of interest! If I'm not mistaken the EU has compelled the Netherlands government to make an ultimatum to all private farmers to sell or face eviction! Which is such a tragedy as corporations will neglect them! It seems to be the trend in the West whereas it seems to be the opposite in Russia where the government is giving large incentives, and subsidies, to encourage development for its new markets in Asia which has already seen a 20% or so rise in exports within a couple of years. The lack of Western competition (From the eyes of an outsider) seems to have only sparked innovation as there is a gaping market ready to be filled which is boosting entrepreneurship. When the West dominated the market it seemed like nobody even bothered... but now there is huge domestic competition and opportunity, together with the necessity to advanced technologically for exports!
I worked at an electronics store when I was younger and I can tell you that the revenue for December 30-31 alone exceeded the revenue for the average summer month. People come from somewhere and grab everything like crazy.
Moscow plus the Moscow region is the Moscow region!! These are 20 million inhabitants in an area 120 km from Moscow. There are uniform salaries, a single network of roads and shops. The same standard of living. There are a lot of cities and towns with high-rise buildings and private houses. There are many forests, rivers, and reservoirs. Almost all families in Moscow have warm homes with gas and electricity in the Moscow region!!! 💥
So so many people. In Dublin you might see a lot of people but only in O'Connel Street and Dame street and up to Grafton Street where main shopping streets are and then there is whole lot of no people at all. And somehow Ireland still has shortage of accommodation for rent, housing crisis they call it. Something doesn't add up.
My grandmother was afraid of such big stores, she bought everything either at the market or in small grocery stores. But grandpa enjoyed visiting the mall))

There were other smaller shops and a few eateries. We'd never go back to that mall.
Thank you so very much Russell for such nice videos
Any time. It's a pleasure to make them, and upload them here.

Russel thanks again for the good video of my lovely shopping center especially Globus which we visit with family every week. Hope to meet you there once. Happy New Year and best wishes to you and your family! 🎄🎄🎄
If you see me, please stop me and say hello. I was thinking I should be making this video either tonight or tomorrow. Today, I was with my wife doing our new year shopping in Aprelevka. My wife still tells me to this day, why she didn't buy one of the apartments by Salaris all those years ago when there was noting in that area.
Happy New Year Russell! Thank you for sharing Russia with us in your fair and friendly manner.
No worries, Thanks !!
A lovely shop! Fantastic merchandise there!
Globus is a very nice store.
Bruh, some of the Russian hating comments are hilarious. Thanks Russell, another great video. Happy New Year from the Caribbean.

So want to visit Russia.
After taking my wife to AviaPark last week, which is the largest in Russia, she is much more at home at this mall. Everything you need in one mall.
Strange to see how busy it is and listen to the video with all the western Christmas music in the background. I have never seen a grocery store this busy in Canada before.
And to think this was 2 days from New Years Eve, my wife and I shopped in our small town today, even the shop here were crowded.
Jingle Bell Rock! That cracked me up, and it's probably my favorite Christmas song to boot.
It's all English words, western culture music for the most part. Not sure we'd know how to react otherwise. It's not bad. We are just not used to it.
The store looks great! The videos you make I would not mind visiting some day.
Glad you like them!
Happy New Year, Russell! Thanks for brilliant videos! Hope next year will bring you more adventures and more followers

Hi Russell, Just wanted you to know that as a subscriber I always enjoy your videos. Your always so good at explaining the area and culture in Russia. I don't celebrate New Years. I just have never cared about it. I have never seen New Years as a fresh start. I see years as just a continuation of time. It is interesting how the culture there celebrates it. Thank you for sharing.
You're doing everything right, there's no need to summarize. But there is no need to deprive yourself of a holiday in an endless series of cases. Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!
He turns something so mundane to entertaining content to enjoy. Happy New Year Russell, hoping for more grocery and shopping tours in 2025 and beyond!
I've always had a strange fascination with Russia, so it's always interesting to see these insights into normal, everyday life. It was also interesting to hear the English language Christmas pop songs playing in the background!

Happy New Year to you, Russell, your Wife and the Russian people from America. Another great video. So many points that you brought forth which I pointed out when I shared this on my Social Media platforms here in America. Oh by the way, I could never go to Globus on an empty stomach. ☺🙏♥️🎊🎉🇺🇸🇷🇺
Exactly why they have the cafes at the entrance. Eat first, then you don't buy too much. I really should do a food tasting video from there cafe.

Cheese.

Happy New Year Russel and beautiful wife 😊 in Pennsylvania USA
So interesting! Happy New Year!
Smoked fish is a typical new year's or party food
You are a great narrator and videographer.
Wow, Thank you. That's such a compliment.
Russell is easy to understand and his enunciation is also very good!
I'm with your wife; no giant megamarts for me. But I love watching your videos! I find it so interesting how much English packaging is in Russia.
This is a walkaround of the local food market where my wife prefers to shop. Very typical, and literally every town in Russia has a place like this. ua-cam.com/video/akCdWSzsFWE/v-deo.html

That is false we clearly see multiple of the same items from the same company manufacturing they only seem full because they have the exact same thing in each shelf instead of a variety of diffrent things for diffrent utility

@@GManzi673
Thank you and Happy New Year to you!!! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Yeah, you're right.

I notice that the majority of people there are on the young side. As an 80 year old person, Iwould have trouble navigating such a large space.
