White Plaster is a good choice for most homeowners. It is the classic look for a pool. The white plaster is also very durable and smooth to the touch.
The only drawback is that it will react to chemistry changes and could easily stain if you are not careful.

This was a great video demonstrating that white plaster does not LOOK white when the pool is filled with water!
My brand new plaster white just filled with water an the start up guy adds acid day one no filter on no diatamatious earth he says if he start filter the pool can turn purple because there’s metal in filter ??
Sounds like a hot start up but you will need to turn the pool on in a couple of days. I would get the filter installed.
I am sorry to ask you so many questions..."Coming from Seattle, our pool was a water trough for the cows!" I had my pool resurfaced and tiled 6 years ago, in plaster, I take very good care of it, but there is a place where the plaster is coming up, about the size of a small tangerine. Is there anything I can do, while my pool is empty, to try and make this so it won't get any worse? I am afraid of it starting to spread, and I just can't ask my parents to foot the bill AGAIN for this to be all chipped out and resurfaced. They support me financially (due to cancer), I just can't ask that again. There must be SOMETHING that can be done to flake this out and do something? Please tell me what I could possibly hope to have done or possibly hire or do myself? Thanks again for your answer, you are the best source I have ever came across!!! So much detailed information, I so appreciate this!!!

It is the Sun reflecting off of the white plaster. Makes it look blue.

It's the mix. You can get it from any pool plaster company.
