My review of pop punk (at the time) band Fall Out Boy’s breakout smash hit album "From Under the Cork Tree". I initially reviewed this album in 2013, and it was horrendously bad. Here’s the redemption review for my first video of 2020, and for the 15th anniversary year of this amazing release. (PS, do yourself a favor and listen to the AMAZING bonus tracks too)

I miss times when I could anticipate FOB album knowing I'll love at least 80% songs. But hey, it is what it is

For some reason I listened to this album in summer of 2019 and thougt "holy S$$t this is better than most of the pop charts today" I gave it a 4.5/5

I've Got a Dark Alley is SUCH an underrated song, also your favorite tracks in the description, same haha. FUTCT is a pop punk masterpiece. Honestly, its right up there with Enema and Dookie, idc what any of the elitists might say.

The album that got me into pop punk music, and one of my favorites of all time. My introduction to this album was when I was trying to start a band about four years ago, and the guitarist and bassist suggested I learn how to play “Sugar We’re Goin Down” on the drums. After getting it down, I knew I had to check out the album from start to finish, and I was blown away. The dark lyrical content and the amazing music in this album was exactly what I needed to hear at the time, and I still have a lot of good memories when I hear this album. 5/5 rating for me as well.
This, as well as American Idiot and Enema of the State, is one of my favorite pop punk albums. Constant bangers.
There isn’t a bad song on this album. This is a masterpiece that I wish fall out boy could still pull out today. This is my second favorite album of theirs behind infinity on high, but I could see it becoming my favorite of theirs in the future. Great review Jon, I look forward to more!
I had such a hard time picking which FOB album was my favorite since both this album and Folie a Deux are masterpieces in their own ways. I'll listen to this album when I need more songs to get me pumped or angsty. Never a dull moment!

Anyways, I love this album so much. The opener is kickass, XO is just amazing (and kinda reminds me of Helena), and well, I’d go on but I’d end up gushing about the entire record.
This-Infinity-Folie is the golden trio and one of the best consistent trio of records I’ve heard.

I’d add Take This to Your Grave in there too. Highly underrated first album . TTYG-Cork Tree-Infinty-Folie are as close to a perfect run as you can get.
this review made me so happy. i absolutely love this album. besides the three main hits, i think people tend to overlook this album. every single song hold a special place in my heart for different reasons. but even from an unbiased standpoint, it's still a fantastic record.
Sugar We're Going Down is one of my favorite song of all time. Even if I think it's an overrated song, it's one of the best for me. I played it all the time, times when my crush don't usually talk to me or ignore me. The song just drive me crazy.

In 2005 I was 9, this album was my favourite album, but since the second album I went off them. I got into metalcore and more heavier stuff. But the fall out boy first album is their best album ever
I remember not understanding the praise or love for this album. At my first listen, I was disappointed and it didn’t really stick with me. But then I gave it a second listen, and oh dear, it hit me like a truck.
It never gets old, and still keeps me excited when I listen to it. The lyrics was out of the world and still to this day some of the meanings remain a mystery to me. I absolutely cherish and adore this album, and 100% agree with everything you said in the video

People are lying if they say there isn't at least one song that they love off of this beautiful album. Sometimes I forget how much I loved this album. I mean c'mon Champagne for my real friends and real pain for my sham friends? Pete never disappointed with those titles and sassy lyrics. Patrick was in his vocal prime and even though I didn't always understand what he was singing I never missed the sentiment. What an inspiration 😭
I hated this album so much when it first came out! It was NOT the fob that I fell in love with! Now as an adult I truly appreciate how beautiful it is!

I personally think this and "Nobody Puts Baby" are the best songs
You should have put the score in the description as “duh/5”. I think we all knew what your score for this album would be.
this was the best album by fall out boy in my opinion. with songs like dance dance and our lawyers made us change the name of the song so we wouldn't get sued being some of the good fall out boy songs

Yeah I've been trying to get into their first album.
Joey Flight I’ve started with Kill the House Lights and didn’t bother trying to go in chronological order…I listened to their split with Envy next and Common Existence after that (so apparently I did go in chronological order after all LOL). I still like Kill the House Lights best so far
I love this album. Major classic.

I remember first hearing SWGD in the summer of 05 on someone's MySpace, then hearing it on the radio and immediately blindly buying the album without hearing anything else on it. Fell in love right away. What a classic. 15 years already!? Cruising around listening to this album front to back on repeat. What a time! Still hear sugar on the radio and it makes me smile.

I drummed this entire record and It was one of the most fun records to play in it's entirety

thedrummerkid archives I can see how my back would hurt if I were to play the whole album. Haha. I was jamming with a friend a couple hours ago and we actually played “sixteen candles” I actually have most of that song down on drums too, minus a few fills.
So glad I can come home to this awesome review after a hardass shift. This album is near flawless any way you look at it
They have been on the biggest descent over the years... so sad to see how much they have turned into commercially friendly music without that effort. All their old music was an absolute joy to listen too, so catchy and full of energy.
You should do a throwback review for Rise Against's Siren Song of the Counter Culture or Billy Talent's debut album

From Under The Corktree was my first FOB album and definitely still holds up! I am constantly coming back to it and is definitely one of the best Pop Punk albums of all time

Mania was the first album by them that I didn't LOVE. I was 8 when this album came out, and I remember listening to it in the car with my dad who passed on his great taste in music. This album is AMAZING!!

just dawned on me this came out when I was 7 wtf, insane but this is definitely my favorite FOB album. Don't listen to them much anymore these days but I wouldn't mind hearing this masterpiece any day.
This is my personal favorite falloutboy album and it's easily in my top 10 favorite albums of all time.

Pre hiatus FOB and P!ATD with Ryan Ross and Jon. Two of the greatest bands in the world had they only continued the way they once did. Such a shame
