  • "You know that song ‘if body catch a body comin' through rye’?"
    Hi again!
So you can guess the title is from "The Catcher in the Rye", by J. D. Salinger, I read the book a few years ago now, almost at the same time I discovered BTS's music, and I remembered liking it quite a lot.
But in reality I got inspired by this really well-made edit by manggaeteok (mangaetteok.tu...) when I stumbled upon it on tumblr, which took me back to remembering when I first started liking BTS and decided to give this a try! I hope you like it! xx
Alsoooo,, the clips where Jimin has pink hair and is alone is the reality. And the clips where he has brown hair or the clips in which he has pink hair but the members are there, are supposed to represent his wishful imagination/thoughts.
Annnnnnd, I just wanted to clarify that I don’t mean to represent Holden’s character as Jimin or smth like that. I took that extract of the book because it resonated with me at the time (and I guess it still does in a way).
I just wanted to depict the floating-like sensation I felt and the image that printed my mind when I read that specific part, through the beautiful cinematography that BTS’s videos have gifted us (although I know the edit is not as pretty). So, basically it’s not so much a portrayal of Holden’s character or the book itself (I know how much the writer or Holden himself would hate that lol), but of the emotions of my younger self. So yeah, this feels like tmi so I’ll stop now lol

My dear American friend, you confused American short story "Cather in the Rye" with a poem of British poet Robert Burns "Comin thro' the rye".
I like both, but now about "Comin thro' the rye". Now study Russia and then read few Russian translations of that lovely poem, i.e. by Marshak. What is another nation where a 300 years old Scottish poem would be translated at least ten times and so beautifully?
Imagine, Soviet Union, 1975, provincial movie theater, there was no popcorn back then in "backward" Russia, instead a hundred or so people were listening to an artist reciting translation of "Comin thro' the rye".
