I am also Mexican descent with a bit of Scot-Irish and English to boot. I've been doing Scottish Country Dance since 2013 and loving it. Viva Mexico! Alba gu Brath! God save the Queen!
As an American of Mexican descent, my primary school was populated by Anglo-Saxons. Yet the only cultural dancing we did was Mexican. I would've loved to have done other cultural dances. BTW, my elementary school was called, Sunny Brae.
I love being Scottish too :) I like Canadian Strip the Willow. I always seem to go to Ceilidhs with the same Ceilidh band and they always do that last. I remember learning the military two step in primary school and I think I was the only person enjoying it :)
Joanne Biscuits Ferguson Aye not many people in school like the Scottish dance music/dances, always enjoyed the music and learning the dances myself as well! - Thanks for your lovely comment Joanne!
Scottish music is amazing! I'm a quarter Scottish so it's in my blood! I've never been to a Ceilidh before but I've recently moved to Scotland so I'm hoping I can get to one!

I remember having to do this shit round Christmas time at Primary. Gay Gordons, Strip The Willow, the whole 9 yards. And I hated it, so, much. At least I can vibe to it and dance in my own way.
Can you please tell me the name of the first tune that is played. My dad used to play this on his banjo mandolin as his warm up song. Thank you in advance
You can dance in any of the main Scottish city's, although there are better Ceilidhs at some of the smaller towns and villages! Here's a good place to visit: www.skipinnishceilidhhouse.com/
Actually where I live in Scotland all schools from p1 up to s6 do country dancing in gym (mainly around Christmas and St. Andrew's Day). In high school we generally learn about 14 different dances per year. We have ceilidhs too, like the one yesterday night. :)
I'm mexican and I really like the scottish music. 😍
