There was an odd sort of stillness in the air of this place. The ronin could hear the sound of birds chirping, but they felt muffled, distant, as if the forest demanded silence and the world around it obeyed. His feet were gentle on the ground, his eyes peering out from beneath the sugegasa he wore, quietly taking in the world around him. The black bark of the trees contrasted vividly by the brilliant crimson leaves that drifted from the trees like the petals of cherry blossoms. Tennos breath was slow and measured. This place was one of stories and legends, and it had taken the wanderer a great deal of effort to find. He wished to take it in as it was, with as little sound as he could to disturb it, even from his own breath if he could. At least, for now. He needed the experience before he could begin.
This place was known as the Forest of Crimson Eternal, and legend claimed that on this site, two ancient spirits had done battle and the blood spilled in their conflict had stained the leaves of the trees to the eternal red they now displayed, and that ever since, these leaves have remained red, and that they would be red until the end of time. Some said the trees had been so steeped in this blood, that if one were to cut a leaf, it would bleed as did the spirits who once fought here. Tenno breathed in. The cool air filled his lungs. His eyes closed. his curiosity had been piqued. He had to know the extent of truth in this legend. Time seemed to slow, in a way that it had long ago when his hand hovered above his sword. When he was called samurai instead of ronin. His eyes snapped open, hand snatching sword and drawing it in an instant, a flash of steel, a falling leaf sliced clean before him. A splash of crimson on his blade, and a tiny pool of it where the two halves of the leaf had landed. So it was true then. Tenno smiled, and sat where he was, just before the leaf. This forest was an incredible thing, a place of beauty that had risen up from a moment of violence. Death, creating a new kind of life. This place touched his heart closer than some of the others he had roamed. Perhaps because of his time as a samurai, but it resonated with him. His sword returned to it's sheath and his flute came out. This was a place that deserved reverence, he thought. Tenno lifted his flute, and began to play, a song to stir the heart as this place had stirred his own.
An incredible work of art my friend. Something about this one just touched my heart in a way I can't truly explain. It brought up an odd nostalgia, like it was calling up memories I had long forgotten. It made me want to write something that touched just a bit on the history of the ronin who has set out on this journey, a fleeting glimpse of who he was before becoming who he is. Your music never fails to inspire me, and I am ever grateful to you for your work in creating these masterpieces. I wish the best for you, and never lose that spark of inspiration. I look forward to every track you make, and I'll see you on the next track with another tale to tell.
