Thanks very much for a great video. I absolutely love Pelikan pens. I hope that you enjoyed your kebab and what a lovely thing to do putting positive sayings on the we wrapper. Take care, David.

My M800 arrived just a day ago. It's the first Pelikan that I've ever had. It's weighty, but it's perfect, along with it being more girthy than my other pens. I need only to guide it across the paper. It does everything else. It's like getting new shoes. You know that getting dirt or scuffs on new shoes is like taboo. So, I'll go with it for a while and see how it and my hand, along with lifestyle get along. But on first mention, and after having written a few lengthy letters, I absolutely love it. I would take it to work, out on the farm. It's a worker's working pen.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Yes the M800 is an every pen for me and probably many other pp as well. Regarding weight, I have found that my preferences have shifted towards more weighty pens. It could be a matter of my hand muscles getting stronger (I doubt it) but more likely, a weighty pen is more stable in the hand and is easier to guide through writing and/or drawing.

I have a m600 with blue stripes as well, with a ef nib. My favourite pen yet.

Thanks for your comment.. Could I ask how does your M600 EF perform in terms of line width?
If I ever get the M800, it will be in blue stripes in EF or BB.

@@WrexelsWorld my extra fine writes somewhat close to a Japanese Pilot Medium (compared to my Custom 74). Just slightly finer than that. Its a really good writer and writes really wet as well, which I believe is what makes it write so thick. Would recommend it if you enjoy using Japanese Mediums

@@jarylyip that's good to know. I haven't a Pilot in Medium so EF looks like the nib to get for me for Pelikans, thanks very much.

@@WrexelsWorld I would recommend a Ef for the Pelikan definitely 😅. Enjoy!

I appreciate you show the balance point of the pen. I think its very important aspect of a pen, and its usually not adressed in reviews.

Hi Ain, I am still learning about fountain pens everyday as I am a novice user compared to many others. There are some more things I have discovered e.g. the effect of nib length to the writing experience which I will cover in a part 2 of "How do I choose a pen" video.

M600 is one of my workhorses, got green version also with M nib.
In case of reliability Souveran series is IMO one of greatest FP's ever made
BTW i see M800 in my future some day (-:

I always buy white/rose gold/red/burgundy fountain pens but this time I purchased Black M600 (M) because my teacher in journalism in high school passed away. I looked up to her and she was one of my role models. I never use black fountain pens (only for mechanical pencils) unless there is a business formal event or my days are gloomy.

Have more than one M800, but I do not have the M600. I have considered one occasionally, but I fear the smaller size. I do not have the largest hands, but the M200 was just too small. It was all right if I posted, but I really do not like posting. Every once in awhile I see an M600 in a color or design I like; I cannot afford the special colors in the M800. [I also got extraordinary deals on each of the M800s, prices I cannot find any more. Thanks for the review!

Glad you liked it and thanks for your comment! I was tempted by the M605 in tortoiseshell-black (the latest release) but I have learn't, like you, how important fit is and resisted the temptation. I also like the M1000/M1005 but I think the M800/805 is the sweet spot for most people.

My first Pelikan was M200 marble M right there I fell in love with the bouncing nib. Then I found on sale limited ed M600 orange B 14k smoother, same bouncing. I got a very good discount used in another M200 brown B (as yours) and I consider the M200 my perfect daily writers. Maybe the jump will be 800 or 1000 but maybe for Black Friday ot Cybermomday. I can't believe some jinhaos, moonman, penbbs, etc are over $80 when for a bit extra we can get an M200 that in my opinion is a Quality that shouldn't be compared with those brands. It wouldn't surprise me if Pelikan decide to increase their prices then. I keep asking how long have people been actually using, washing, dropping, etc their pens for months-years to explain if the material, mechanisms, converters, etc keep up or do they have to buy every month replacement parts? Nonesense!

Thanks so much for your comments. The design of a pen is important as well as the build quality. I probably prioritize the function of the pen more than the aesthetics part e.g. colors and materials.
I feel the greatest weakness of the Chinese pens are the nibs which although decent, do not have any character when writing. Nib selection is limited to a few choices for now. Things might change though..

I've had an M600 with a fine nib for about a year and a half. I'm mildly disappointed with the pen. I had the idea that a pen at such a price would be the best pen I'd ever own: The most beautiful, the smoothest writing, juiciest, et cetera. As things stand, I prefer my Bexleys, Platinum 3776 Century, Pilot Custom Heritage 92, and Pineider Avatar. The Pelikan is a good pen, just not a great pen, and is certainly nowhere near worth what they're asking for it in the United States.

Thanks for your comments. As things stand now, I will have to agree with you. I tend to mostly use my Pilots although recently I have started using my EF Lamy Safari quite a bit as well.
