I discovered Zappa with this album in 1973. Never get tired of it.

First FZ I ever heard. Teenagers giggling at dirty lyrics. As time went on I realized the unique greatness of his catalog. FZ music defies description. Can’t wait to get my ears on this.
I picked up my copy yesterday, so far it rules. The one and only performance with Ricky Lancelotti alone makes it worth the price of admission!!
Thanks for the review. Great musicians playing lousy material means a lousy listening experience. The "Roxy Band" line up indeed was Frank's sweet spot. But it was the material that was the difference maker. Eclectic but imminently enjoyable.

One of my favorite Zappa albums, much deserving of a deluxe treatment. Sounds like an incredible package.
Did not know this was out yet. Should be here on Friday. Great album! I guess it was officially my first Zappa album (the old Rykodisc double issue with Apostrophe(').) Boy I hope they give the same treatment to Apostrophe(') and One Size Fits All.
The surround mixes are jaw dropping amazing.
I listened to this over and over when I was a kid. First concert when I was 10 or 11 at the palace theater in Albany NY. Why did he smoke cigarettes?

This album and Fifty-Fifty song from this is the one how I found Zappa's music. It was in 1973 when I won a Phillips cassette recorder playing bingo at a local bingo hall. I was there with my father. Soon I bought an empty cassette and went to my friend's to record some music on it. CCR album Cosmo's factory and some Beatles songs. They were already familiar to me and so good. After recording them there was still about 10 minutes empty room in the end of the cassette and my friend said maybe i should try this. It was my friend's older brothers Zappa lp Over nite sensation and song Fifty fifty from it. Ok, I said i'll try. When listening to it, I remember I was thinking what the hmmm is this. At home next day I played the cassette once but kept on playing Fifty Fifty again and again. That day I forgot CCR and Beatles and found Zappa. And that is the road i am still on. Frank was on a great run at this time and released some of his best albums. This wasn't one of them for me (I know, I know). Commercially successful but was it the sleaze and innuendo that teenagers most enjoyed ? I recall that he actually lost some of his long time fans at this point. I still enjoy it but I think he went back to more interesting stuff after this. Too high a price point for me although I'd love to hear the live recordings. Many thanks for the review Pete.

Amazing how much great stuff is it the vaults.
It has two whole live sets and they both rip. Absolutely the way these boxes oughta be and I'm so grateful that the ZFT has been rolling them out
If I could get it for the equivalent of sixty bucks I'd go for it, but it's a hundred quid in the UK and even if I could afford it I just wouldn't pay it. You can't help but wonder if at half the price they'd get more than twice as many sales.
Completely agree. I already have a standard CD of this. So even with the extra live stuff here, at that price I won’t bother getting this. They’re getting greedy again, they still don’t realise that was what nearly killed off physical media in the past.
